you shouldn't let your horse get away with that. if my horses or trainees bucks or trys anything on me they get a tune up big time, i don't tolerate it when horses do that
Haha I probably would've laughed too. I've had horses get away from me(what horse owner hasn't) and when they start acting all goofy it's hard not to laugh. They are strong animals and can hold their own and he's running in a fenced area so at least he wouldn't be near the road and you will eventually catch him. So in my opinion you handled it VERY well haha plus anyone who knows horses knows if you chase after them they will run in the opposite direction lol. This video made my morning.
Unlucky at the end of the day, there was no way u were gunna hold on so u might as well have let him go..a good lunging that horsie needs before remounting i think ;)
most people don't ride with the halter on once they are tacked the take the halter off and lead the horse by the reins why because thats how you do it if she put the lead rope on where would you attach it? the bit? oh wait reins are attached to the bit. and then if the horse was to take off another rope to trip on. and chase after him? good luck catching him. they usually stop not far off and then you go walk up to your horse, dont chase a moody or spooky horse normally they just keep on running
Okay, how could she have gotten a leadrope that fast? Do you automatically have a leadrope when you get off a horse? I know I don't. I think it was stupid to sit & laugh. I would have been more worried that my horse would trip and fall over the reins. I think they should have been more concerned for the horse instead of sitting there having a good time about it. He could have hurt himself. I would have been running right after him. It was an accident, the horse spooked, but still irresponsible.
@bns54913 how is it irresponsible?they can't just go RUN after it that'll make the horse run by making the chance bigger for him to step on the reins. and they didn't know it was coming so no it wasnt irresponsible. and who said they weren't worried?its hard to control a 1300 pound animal who is much stronger and faster. so they had a little laugh get over it he was fine
I think that if a horse was like that, i wouldnt think "omg im phikik, i need a leadrope for this horse. Get me a leadrope. Oh no too, let, i know, lemme just throw the reins over his head." I think she didnt have time to think about that, so whoever says "throw the reins over his head," or "Have a leadrope!" What would you of done? Let him run a bit? Or just get dragged along the floor?! Oh no, maybe you would of thought about the leadrope or reins in that second he took off!
yeah i know that but every stables that i have been to we have always used a lead rope id really don't matter if they are tacked up or not we have to think about bein safe
Horse are STRONG. If they want to they WILL rip the reins out of your hands. Theres nothing these girls can do about it but laugh. And thats totaly fine, cause you know what? I would too. Since the horse would be much faster then I am, Im not going to panic and "attempt" to go run after it.
I won't stay on just for the principle if the horse is dangerous, but they will be given a chance to calm down and work off a little energy on the lunge. When they calm down I will get back on even if only for a minute and at a walk.
My mare was previously owned by a woman who would get off anytime she bucked or misbehaved. Isabelle learned that if she had a fit the lady got off. For me, she was usually fine unless I asked her to do something she didn't want to do, then she would do anything to try to make me get off. The first time this happened I got off, lunged her until she was tired, and then got back on. The other two times I just stayed on and insisted she do what I asked. She learned she was not getting out of it.
O.M.G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! y are u laghing that could kill ur horse! his reins were habging down and when he took off he could have steppd on them and triped... STUPID!!!!!!!!
Ok calm down. It was stupid of them to laugh, but how was she gonna prevent her horse from stepping on them. I mean he spooked, and she did the smart thing by letting go.
acutally... she should have held the reins. went w/ him a bit until he calmed down. learn how to handle a horse before u ride a strong willed 1 like tht.
She wasn't riding him. && I think it was the SAFER thing to do by letting go of the reins, I'd probably have tried to hold on :DD. Because I don't want to have to pay for broken reins. && Hopefully that would be the worst thing. The reins would most likely just break. But I know what you mean.
Oh, heck...anyone who's spent more than 5 minutes with horses has had silly/unexpected/crazy things happen. Sometimes you manage to work it out, and sometimes your horse goes bucking off into the sunset. lol
Better to get off than get hurt - you're a smart girl!
if he was acting bad and you got off of him because of it, he just got away with it and most more than likely, he'll do it again since he knows that he can be bad and you'll get off of him. Just my two cents. Not trying to be rude, just honest. Good Luck!
Not all horses learn they can get away with being stupid. I get off mine when he acts dumb on the trail and he doenst act up because he knows I will get off and his work is done. I am sure sure there are other horses, like Jazz, who do better if you just get off. Most horses, not so much, but there are some.
lol, no, i didnt get off because of it. I got off because i had ridden him for a fair amount of time, just as i got off, renee was leading him back and then he started misbehaving again.
there was nothing you could do hun and im glad no-one was hurt but thats why we NEVER lead with the reins over the head coz if they do get away from you, thhey would easily get caught up and fall. Leave her alone everyone, she had enough brains to get off in the first place!!! that shows that she does know how to handle horses!!! x
I know how unpredictable horses can be. the people who are stupid enough to think that you purposely endangered the horse are silly. Better to laugh than get angry at the horse or the situation. :) I'm glad to hear he's ok.
Yeah the horse pissed off but you know what the horse is FINE! So get the hell over yourselfs and move on for gods sake. Your all tough on youtube. Friggen hell
OKAY! thats it. this is the REASON why he was actuing like this okay! The reason is BECAUSE he hates being seperated, so we tie a horse up in the arena so he is good, the owner of the pony took her away, so he went ferral, and took off. NOW thats that, NO more of this, you shouldnt be laughing, you cant handle a horse etc....hello, how is she going to hold onto a 300 + kilo horse!? that was the end of the ride, we wernt going to ride him anymore, so just PLEASE leave it. xx
I own two big horses and can handle them fine when they act up, and so can most people at the barn. The reason he got away is because whoever was holding him wasn't paying attention.
No matter what caused the horse to run doesn't matter, I still don't understand why you were laughing.
I wasn't trying to be rude or insult anyone, I was just asking.
well for starters, you should pay attention to what the horse is doing not to the person videotaping. and you should not have let go of the reins, he could step on/through them and break his leg or hurt himself. i highly doubt he would kick you if you knew how to control him
obviously not! espically not if a horse NEEDS to be tied up near him just so he is manageable!!!! she shouldnt even have a horse if she is going to let him get away with bad habits!!!!
sorry, but honestly, you expect her to get dragged off? Most people who have horses that are difficult to handle have had them get loose at one point or another. It's not like she let go on purpose. It was an unexpected yank.
she wasnt even close to that point. i highly doubt the horse would drag her off anywhere though, that is if she knew/knows how to control him. the last resort is to let go of the horse, he was barely pulling.
She didn't let go. He unexpectedly lunged and took the reins out of her hands. It's not like she threw the reins down and smacked him or anything. It was an accident. There's no need to tell her that she doesn't know how to handle horses when you know so little about her.
yea she definetley did let go. its not like he spooked out of no where, he was already acting up. any one would know that when a horse starts acting up they can do stupid stuff at any given moment so you have to be aware.
but it is like he jumped sideways unexpectedly. He pulled the reins through her hands. for you to criticize her is silly. as is this argument. Get over it. Just because he got away from her doesn't mean she doesn't know how to handle horses, and you have no right to tell her so. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
I would like to say thanks for sticking up for me and my friend, okay. he did shy and pull away unexpectantly. He wasnt acting up big time, he was just chucking his head, its not as if we knew he was gonna full on leap away. thanks :)
No problems. I work with horses all the time. I know how these things happen, and it was perfectly ok to laugh since she knew he was in a relatively save place, and the likelihood that he would hurt himself on a bridle is low. More likely he would break it. It's not a huge deal. It's silly to criticize people for accidents.
Ohhhh I know how you feel one min. my horse can be fine and the next he goes crazy! But all and all my horse is really sweet! Btw your horse is beautiful and very muscluer!!!!
Aw was he alright afterwards. I love how she sais she wished he would do something. Thats perfecting timing right there. Hes an absolut beauty though. Good thing you got of before hand.

Seriously, all you people get stuffed.
Chantelle is my best friend and I have met this horse and he can act up and he isn't easy to handle. so get off both of there cases!
And don't even get me started on "holding and handling" because.
1. My mum seriously injured herself trying to hold onto my old horse who bolted on her.
2. They weigh a hell of alot more then what we do!
What happened to my mum was horrible and I wont say what it is.
But get off Chantelles case or so help me god.
