i am for health care reform, where i dont have to pay the outrageoous price of insurance premiums in oklahoma. i just got a letter today from bcbs of ok saying my insurance going up to $1,021.00 a month effective may 1st. The people representing us in oklahoma need to just forget about who is democrat and republlican and get a life, ours is what is important.

This plan is suppose to cover 95%. However of the 31 million now not covered, 18 million will get medicaid. The poorest quality care in the U.S. 50% of Doctors don't take medicaid and very few Hospitals, many procedures are denied and they don't pay for many drugs. That isn't the care Obama promised. The others will be able to purchase a subsidized plan that est cost $6300 per year. The younger working class will fall under that. Great Bill let me tell ya!
You should have watched CSPAN coverage of comittee meetings in which Senator Coburn presented his plan that does cover all Americans. There was another Republican who proposed and ammendment so we will get the same coverage Congress gets. Of course both Coburn's plan and the other ammendment were defeated on a straight party vote. In other words, the Democrats defeated them.

Over 1/2 of the citizens w/o insurance will now get medicaid the poorest quality healthcare . 50% of Doctors don't take it and few Hospitals. Medicaid limits procedures and does not cover many drugs. That isn't the same insurance Congress and Obama have is it? The other 1/2 will be forced to buy the subsidized plan for $6300 per year after the $1500 credit. Making that plan total $7800. This isn't reform it is the first step to a government takeover. It is destructive to every American.

Whoever you feel about this is beside the point. This is a constitutional issue and the elected party (Democrats) are treating our constitution like toilet paper. I don't see anything unconstitutional about this bill in terms of the process of how it was constructed (albeit not all parts I agree with), will be passed and implemented. Again, I don't think we are headed toward socialism anymore than I thought we were headed towards a theocracy under the previous administration. If nothing else it shows that our country embraces pluralism and discourse without threat.
I am curious did you happen to follow the election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts. Well, Massachusetts is quite possibly the most left leaning state in the union. This Kennedy country for Goodness sakes. That whole election was a model for the sentiment in this country. This was an issue of a poorly run democratic campaign along with a poor candidate. Additionally, Scott Brown did not even run on the issue of repealing health care reform as you so imply. His campaign got legs after the Christmas terrorist event and was helped by Coakley herself. I followed it.

I think what you meant was that we don't agree, not "you are wrong." You don't have exclusive ownership of the facts. With that said, it sounds to me like you would actually embrace the current Senate bill since it put most of the control over health care in the hands of states. There will be some Federal oversight, but mainly by limiting predatory practices of Insurance companies. It does not go far enough with insurance regulation, but it it better than the present situation.

@RightCountry since I don't really know what your stance is (other than "this is a referendum on the 2010 election followed by a repeal of the Health Care Bill"), it is hard to know what I have agreed with you on to somehow prove you right. If you want to make that assumption, I don't really care. All I can assume is that on Sunday the bill will pass both houses and within 90 days the first set of rules will be put into play. For most of us nothing will feel different.
@kamanu47 The only thing that will feel different for most folks is their taxes will go up, their health care premiums will go up, and they will have problems finding a doctor, and they will have problems getting an appointment with a doctor after they find one and they will have to wait in long lines for service.

This plan is suppose to cover 95%. However of the 31 million now not covered, 18 million will get medicaid. The poorest quality care in the U.S. 50% of Doctors don't take medicaid and very few Hospitals, many procedures are denied and they don't pay for many drugs. That isn't the care Obama promised. The others will be able to purchase a subsidized plan that est cost $6300 per year. The younger working class will fall under that. Great Bill let me tell ya!

You should have watched CSPAN coverage of comittee meetings in which Senator Coburn presented his plan that does cover all Americans. There was another Republican who proposed and ammendment so we will get the same coverage Congress gets. Of course both Coburn's plan and the other ammendment were defeated on a straight party vote. Over 1/2 of the citizens w/o insurance will now get medicaid the poorest quality healthcare . 50% of Doctors don't take it and few Hospitals. Medicaid limits procedures and does not cover many drugs. That isn't the same insurance Congress and Obama have is it? The other 1/2 will be forced to buy the subsidized plan for $6300 per year after the $1500 credit. Making that plan total $7800. This isn't reform it is the first step to a government takeover. It is destructive to every American.

We need Health Care but not that Toxic Bill, it will be a horrible burden for my Generation, we will end up like in a Banana Republic,
Health Care will be like Thailand, third world style, they are so short on staff and funds, they train the relatives to take care of wounds, dressing, giving shots, their hospitals are lined with Gurneys, so short on beds and Dr.'s, that is what will happen here, a lot of Dr's are going to leave, retire early, about 70% are against Obama Care, it will be chaos.

Food is a human right. There is too much profit made in the food business. We must nationalize the food industry. Look at all the evil corporations making a profit from our food. Farming corporations, trucks and trains owned by big corporations. Look at the greedy corporations that profit from warehousing this food, the ones who profit from processing this food.. Health care is not a right. Rights come from natural law - your humanity that you are born with that no one can take away. Your right to think as you wish, to speak as you wish, to worship or not to as you choose, to be the person you wish to be and the occupation you choose. No one can take these away - the govt is formed to protect what you already have. Health care is a good, not a right. Rights can not be something that is a limited resource.

I could not agree more! So many people feel that certain things are a right!!! It just amazes be all the things everyone thinks they have a "right" to. Free school lunches, free healthcare, free free, free! I am sick of it. With all these "hand outs", what reason is there to further ones self? I work my butt off as a single mom to take care of MY only child. I Didn't have 5 illigitimate kids from different "baby's daddy's" so I could SUCK more $ out of the system. The system=failure!

This bill will pass and for most Americans the only thing that they will notice is that Health Insurance cost will be more in line with inflation. However, for a minority who desperately need it, this will be needed blessing that would never come if it were a GOP lead congress.

Every poll in America shows clearly that we, the American people do not want this bill period. 43% Favor Health Care Plan, 53% Oppose. Are you for Democracy my friend, or are you for a dictatorship? Do you want this when the Republicans take office? I don't and I am a strong conservative. I do not agree with legalizing pot, but if my state overwhelmingly supports it than that is law. I am for the people. This is not the way this country runs.

@RightCountry so every poll shows this? Really? The polls on this issue are all over the board. Recently WSJ (a conservative paper) shows it to be a down center, 45 and 46. This bill is not the equivalent of installing a dictatorship, sorry I don't agree. I actually read through both bills and sadly I did not find either one doing enough in the way of protecting the American people. But we obviously have differing opinions.

Whoever you feel about this is beside the point. This is a constitutional issue and the elected party (Democrats) are treating our constitution like toilet paper. And trust me when they Ram this through with all of the sweetheart deals they have made to garner votes in their favor, the seas will rage. This is not over by a long shot. And the sitting president, from his lifetime actions to his appointees, has displayed a strong will towards Socialism.

@RightCountry your point is taken, however I still think we disagree. I don't see anything unconstitutional about this bill in terms of the process of how it was constructed (albeit not all parts I agree with), will be passed and implemented. Again, I don't think we are headed toward socialism anymore than I thought we were headed towards a theocracy under the previous administration. If nothing else it shows that our country embraces pluralism and discourse without threat.

I am curious did you happen to follow the election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts. Well, Massachusetts is quite possibly the most left leaning state in the union. This Kennedy country for Goodness sakes. That whole election was a model for the sentiment in this country. And count my words any Democrat who voted yes on this nightmare is going to loose there seat in office. And this bill will be methodically scrapped. Wait and watch my friend.

@RightCountry I did and I am well aware of what happen in that race. Sadly this was NOT a referendum on the democrats trying to push health care reform as some networks would like to have suggested. This was an issue of a poorly run democratic campaign along with a poor candidate. Additionally, Scott Brown did not even run on the issue of repealing health care reform as you so imply. His campaign got legs after the Christmas terrorist event and was helped by Coakley herself. I followed it.

I think what you meant was that we don't agree, not "you are wrong." You don't have exclusive ownership of the facts. With that said, it sounds to me like you would actually embrace the current Senate bill since it put most of the control over health care in the hands of states. There will be some Federal oversight, but mainly by limiting predatory practices of Insurance companies. It does not go far enough with insurance regulation, but it it better than the present situation.

@RightCountry since I don't really know what your stance is (other than "this is a referendum on the 2010 election followed by a repeal of the Health Care Bill"), it is hard to know what I have agreed with you on to somehow prove you right. If you want to make that assumption, I don't really care. All I can assume is that on Sunday the bill will pass both houses and within 90 days the first set of rules will be put into play. For most of us nothing will feel different.

@kamanu47 The only thing that will feel different for most folks is their taxes will go up, their health care premiums will go up, and they will have problems finding a doctor, and they will have problems getting an appointment with a doctor after they find one and they will have to wait in long lines for service.

@TAMARLANE Actually if you read the CBO report along with the actual bill the only thing that you mentioned that will change:, yes there will be small increase in taxes. As an example a family of 4 that has an adjusted income of 85K will see a small increase in taxes, however it will be offset by lower premiums. Insurance companies will be required to use 80% of all premiums for direct medical payments and if they don't have the return the difference to customers.

@RightCountry Oh that is right, the CBO is a left-leaning socialist band of economist and accountants. Give me a break. I am assuming this is why Bush never used them for all his major bills (tax breaks and Medicare part D)... we know where this got us - turned a surplus into a deficit. The CBO is what it is: a bunch of number crunchers and they have nothing to gain by giving giving this a positive score. They will not lose their job in November.

@RightCountry Again I would disagree with the MA election having much to do with the Health Care bill. In fact Senator Brown did not make much noise about it until after he was elected. I followed it. I challenge you to go back and read the local papers and watch the local reports.
When he was in the state Legislation he voted for the M. Romney bill that surprisingly looks very similar to the US Senate version.

He had no ideas. He just repeated the words "Change" and "Hope". He did make it clear that he wanted to bomb a bunch of third world countries, and he certainly has followed through on that campaign promise.
People voted for Obama because he was a better looking product than McCain, just as people voted for Bush because he was a better looking product than Kerry or Gore. It's all down to packaging these days.
