I think a lot of people enjoy this because you can feel their heart pouring through their music. It's like you can feel the pain and hurt their voices carry (and we all have felt at one point or another) with a twist of hope. It's very moving music, definitely for the soul.

This is different from the album version for sure. This band is amazing - given their young age (well, relative to me) and the gravitas and talent they brought to their debut - I have high hopes for what's to come. Even if that goes another way - the debut album is a masterpiece.

How can it get less dynamic?

Why are "the xx" so critically lauded? I have given their album quite a bit of time, and it seems like re-heated Joy Division basslines with the most lacklustre

vocals. It's like draining all the life out of Mazzy Star - well-nigh impossible, but they manage it - I don't get it.

Yes, I think they did, probably for the album. The original lyrics - shown here - were "If you want me/ Wheres my dough?/ Give me money/ Buy me clothes," which is part of a song from Missy Elliot, "All N My Grill, back from the late 90s. I guess it was ok for live shows, but not for the album.
