It is a tradition born from a time when you HAD to hunt to eat dinner, and to be successful, you had to have a well trained dog. Some people just don't take as much pride in their culture and history like we do.

@lilpossum78 cut the bottom out of a plastic bottle and put some tuna or peanut butter, or corn with grape kool aid powder sprinkled on top of it in the cup and set it down in your cage, and put it so they cant reach thru the cage and get to the bait. Set the trap in an old barn(by a silo is good) or by a pond or a creek,.. or at the edge of a corn field where you see tracks..if you can find tracks you can catch a coon there,sometimes they will climb on top and set it off tho

I live in a city and we have all types of wildlife but it is hard to try to hunt them since you don,t have many acres to work with. I love animals but also love to hunt them it is just the way of life and people should understand that.

i taught my redbone hound to tree bark by patting the tree and saying "get it" and "speak up".. and just making a huge fuss any time she opened her mouth. my jack russell mutt is the same way. i just tell her to speak up or pat the tree and she'll stay on it.
What i want to know is can an American Bulldog do the same job as a mountain cur? i have two males(one young and one old) the pup is game as hell but i'm not so sure how he'll do with tracking and treeing. but he'd make a great catch dog.

i did let her chase it unfortunally she didn`t see wat tree it went up..lol but she track it for awhile,also i actuall got bit by this coon(only on the boot though,no damage to the foot):)
i let my dog fight this coon i caught last week,and she kicked its butt..lol, ripped it off the tree by its next and slung it about 10 ft. and chased it down and threw it again,until it finally made it up the tree after a few mins. lol...she got scrathed and bit a few times..and the next day she caught a coon all by herself and fought it too

i let my dog fight this coon i caught last week,and she kicked its butt..lol, ripped it off the tree by its next and slung it about 10 ft. and chased it down and threw it again,until it finally made it up the tree after a few mins. lol...she got scrathed and bit a few times..and the next day she caught a coon all by herself and fought it too
