The bill for the memorial you were talking about does not pass the four way test for legislation. The 4-way test is how are elected officials are supposed to operate in congress. But they don't and Dr.Paul does. 1. Is it constitutional and a proper function of government?

Ron Paul offered $100 for a medal for Rosa Parks and challenged the rest of the very wealthy Congress to do the same. If everyone would have ponied up the cash, that would have been over $40,000 dollars for a medal. Instead, the rest of congress chose to stick the bill to America.
He voted against the medal for Rosa Park like he did for Ronald Reagan. Ron Paul was good friends with Reagan, too. Offered to spend his own money than spend our money for the medals. He was willing to do more for Rosa Parks than any other Congressman.

Austin NAACP President Nelson Linder, who has known Ron Paul for 20 years, unequivocally dismissed charges that the Congressman was a racist in light of recent smear attempts, and said the reason for him being attacked was that he was a threat to the establishment.
...I'm black, and I can't stand the NAACP because they are very quick to label anyone & anything racist. So, when even an NAACP state President dismisses the newsletters, that says a lot.

Ron holds ideas about us that are distorted and unfocused but I'll just say I don't feel they run so deep as to be hatred.
He is consistent about not using taxes outside of the authorization of the constitution. After his spots are uncovered I believe he remains the only candidate who will attempt to legally stop the fascist on capitol hill. Constitutionally unauthorized taxes, money coinage, wars, is real change and I will vote for him.

If Ron Paul turned down a medal for Rosa Parks through goverment but offered to pay $100 to help buy it, it shows that he is willing to support what she did and do so with his own money. He would not support government paying for it because he is conservative and beleives you, the American citizen should spend money on what you like, not on what a bunch of politicians decide. He wants small government which means more money in your hands.

This national slavery exhibit discussed here is illegal. Not that it's wrong, or shouldn't be made, or that slavery was inconsequential - on the contrary, it is a shameful part of America's past that should be kept in our memory ("Those who forget the past are destined to repeat it.") But by supporting this or any other proposals which violate the Constitution (and that includes the Rosa Parks medal), one gives the impression that the Constitution doesn't need to be followed.

He's known as Dr. "NO" by many - and many get that confused with being "Against"...if it doesn't follow the rule of what a congressman is suppose to vote on, he votes no as a principled philosophy.

Mr Paul asked congress to give $100 each for a medal, with the senate and house thats $53,500. He believes an award means more when the person giving it directly pays for it, not with the taxpayers $. He thinks taxes should go to buying armor for soldiers in Afghanistan not so other people can avoid pitching in... He didn't want to do less for Rosa, he wanted something greater. He calls her a "real hero."

Lincoln said things about us that would make David Duke look like Martin Luther King, but he still wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. However, Dr Paul didn't even write those things. A staffer did, and was immediately fired. Paul is NOT a racist. I'm a registered Democrat, and I plan to cross party lines to vote for Dr Paul in the primary. Isn't the notion that Rosa Parks changed the way things were enough. To give her a gold medal would be demeaning and I don't know why you would ever want to disrespect Rosa Parks like that.

He also doesn't believe on placing people in the "group mentality" because our rights come from our creator not from belonging to a group. The bill for the memorial you were talking about does not pass the four way test for legislation. The 4-way test is how are elected officials are supposed to operate in congress. But they don't and Dr.Paul does. 1. Is it constitutional and a proper function of government?
2. Is it morally correct?
3. Is it something that we really need?

I had heard that that was written by one of his staff. And it was not approved nor was Ron Paul aware of it until after. But agree that he is somewhat responsible because it came out of his office. The statement does not jibe with Dr.Paul's published writings or any speeches. So safe to say that this was not Dr.Paul's sentiment at all.

Ron Paul votes for things that the founders put in the constitution -- not every memorial, bridge, drug war, etc different groups pander for. These things should be paid for by private enterprise or local funds. This is why he can end federal income taxes.

check out the video clip of bill moyer interview with ron paul october 2002. He may not be perfect but he sure had the war thing figured out long before the rest of the elected officials did. And he is willing to take a stand against every other republican in congress and the president too.

These comments ARE taken out of context. The DC criminal comment was made out of sarcasm to question stats. Barbara Jordan IS a victimoligist. Her entire career is made out finding victims, real or not.

for the building for slavery Ron Paul is opposed to all Government spending that building could be constructed by the people and charities it shouldn't be the governments job.
2. Rosa Parks, you did somewhat mention it but Ron Paul said He would LOVE to give her a medal and would it could be done with all of the members of senate giving $100. he asked the other senators too but they all refused and would rather use the tax payers money.

Yeah...on the funding of the slavery exhibit issue, I'm sure that Ron Paul would rather would rather have black people tell the WHOLE story of slavery themselves than allow the rich white men running this country to dictate what can and can not be said about slavery with their funds. It may not be as flashy as the National Constitution Center, but it will be 100% real.

Something to look into about slavery... history is written by the "winners". The civil war wasn't started or fought over slavery. Abe was Racist, in quite a few of his speeches he used the "N" word. He only freed the slaves in the confederacy AFTER he learned that they were splitting from the union so that he could use them to fight the rebels. He also wanted to send ALL BLACKS away... Off of american soil. You have to educate yourself, don't rely on anyone else.

Hip Hop, I really appreciate what you are saying about continuing to talk. One of the things that's really frustrated me about how this country approaches racial friction by inadvertently stifling dialog through bad political theory in practice, like "hate speech" legislation. I don't condone hating anyone, but if you make examples of some very bad apples, then all of a sudden the people with GENUINE questions become afraid to talk, for fear of making someone angry and being called racist.

Ron Paul offered $100 for a medal for Rosa Parks and challenged the rest of the very wealthy Congress to do the same. If everyone would have ponied up the cash, that would have been over $40,000 dollars for a medal. Instead, the rest of congress chose to stick the bill to America.

He voted against the medal for Rosa Park like he did for Ronald Reagan. Ron Paul was good friends with Reagan, too. Offered to spend his own money than spend our money for the medals. He was willing to do more for Rosa Parks than any other Congressman.
I do regret reading people attacking you instead of explaining themselves in a civil manner. I only hope that such ignorant behavior doesn't deter you from giving Ron Paul a fair research.

Second, in your ignorance, you should know that Ron Paul voted against the slavery exhibit because he votes against taxation and actions the federal government should not be involved in (such as the Iraq War and the Patriot Act).
