Among the general Sinhalese population there is no prejudice towards the Tamils. There were nationlist racist groups in the 1950s, 1980s, etc.. but these constituted small minorities of people and have gradually shrunk to mere shells like the JVP.. The Modern Sinhalese doesn't attack Tamil people. I come from Colombo and there was never a difference drawn between the two different groups. I had a lot of Tamil friends in fact and I never associated them with the LTTE or anything negative.
