The important number to look at is the max as this will be the max loudness perceived from the user. In other words, you will notice the loudest types, not the average. I have the Lycosa and it's not that quiet.
@G0KartMozart360 well I had the Razer SC2 stuff for review. After few weeks of testing I pack the stuff to return them to razer and get back to playing starcraft with the mamba. After the first game... I unpack the spectre :D The mouse is ugly as shit and useless in majority of games but surprisingly comfortable for playing SCII. ;)
@G0KartMozart360 didn't like them that much. The razer banshee is too heavy and this is totally not cool for long gaming sessions. The only think that I liked about them is the detachable mic, and the build in EQ for the different races in SCII.
Razer Marauder is definitely not my type of kbd. Removing the numpad is pointless, and I really prefer mechanical keyboard.
The only think that I honestly recommend is the mouse.
i've had both and I will have to say that he black widow is so much better than the lycosa. The lycosa had many hardware and driver issues. I had exchanged mine 3 times thinking that it was the keyboard itself with sticking and having them jam up, also the latest drivers would depress random keys that I was not using, especially the media key. This would lead me to unplug/re-plug the keyboard. The blackwidow is accurate, no issues, no sticking, and has a great sound. Just some words of advice :)
@strangeraFTW The sad thing is people don't understand the actual loudness of hte keyboard isn't that bad. It's people pressing to hard and pushing the keys into the base of the switches or the keyboard itself. If you type light enough the clicking is not that bad at all.
The keyboard is also purposely loud, which a lot of people don't understand. There's a switch type that's created to remove the clicking, but you'll still hear people type regardless because you'll hear plastic smack. lol
@FlamoAralias ooo no, the loudness is terribly bad. Try using it in the office for example... But, I personally love this kbd, and one of the main reasons is exactly the noise. ;)
It's not meant for the office setting. It purposely has audible and tactical feedback. Purposely. If you want a mechanical keyboard for the office, get one with black switches, not red. lol
Also, I own both. I had my lycosa for a year and a half. :)
@FlamoAralias :D dude, for me it is clear what is the purpose behind the BlackWidow. I am just giving you a simple example that the loudness is there... and is huge. Yes it is done on purpose, and for me is great.
Still a lot of other people do care about noise. :)
PS: The Razer BlackWidow Ultimate uses blue switches not red.
@atlaswingpasaway @elpollolo I have absolutely no problems with the Lycosa, and I am happily using it in the office now \after buying blackwidow for home\, but I absolutely agree that blackwidow is much better choice for gaming. The kbd is just... awesome!
@strangeraFTW its probably because i got the older batch of the lycosa, because razer addressed it themselves to have issues on the early batch of lycosa units.
@atlaswingpasaway I own the Lycosa and the black widow. What's wrong with your Lycosa? There shouldn't be any problems with it at all. If you're referring to media keys, might want to check to see if it's the media player itself. ITunes absolutely hates media keys now.

you use a razer spectre, your argument is invalid
G0KartMozart360 3 months ago
@G0KartMozart360 well actually, I use razer mamba. I use Razer Spectre only for StarCraft II. ;)
strangeraFTW 3 months ago
@strangeraFTW glad to hear, in my opinion you should use the mamba for sc2 as well, the spectre is just bad

@strangeraFTW fair enough, what did you think of the marauder and banshee? I love the banshee, but i dont think the marauder is worth the money

even though the lycosa isnt mechanical
does it make a nice clicky noise/feel when you press it?
K3BANG 4 months ago
@K3BANG no. The lycosa is just noise. Not even close to mechanical buttons.
strangeraFTW 4 months ago 2
@K3BANG Yes, although it is a bit mushy if you compare it to mechanical keyboards. But it is much better than most rubber dome keyboards.

The Lycosa is much more quiet but the Black Widow is so much more epic

who cares about noise?? mostly gamers get this keyboard and mostly gamers have headsets on so you can hear anything else so who cares about noise
rEcKLesSzzz 8 months ago
@rEcKLesSzzz I personally don't. :) But it appears that strangely a lot of people do care about noise, so I deside to put this comparison. ;)

@strangeraFTW My bad, I knew it was blue but I was thinking red for some reason. :X

@rEcKLesSzzz exactly. the sound of my graphics card is more annoying than my blackwidow. i like the clicking sound of it actually..

im using a lycosa typing this, and im about to exchange it for a blackwidow. (lycosa has too many problems although the design is good)

@atlaswingpasaway yup, and then they had problems with the last edition... :D I got one from the "middle batch" that works ok for now :D

How significant do you find the difference in noise levels? Obviously the Blackwidow is noisier.
playa318 10 months ago
@playa318 yes, the Blackwidow is much, much noisier.
strangeraFTW 10 months ago
@strangeraFTW
Yes indeed. But i Lycosa is so much worse Keyboard overall...

learn how to type first...

@ginywiny what?
Btw from the video description: If what I am typing doesn't make sense to you, this is because I am typing in BDS not in English.
