When I became a witness decades ago many witnesses were aware that Charles Russell used the pyramid to back his claims about 1914. The old folks wouldn't talk about it. I wondered why they kept it quiet. After 1975 I found out. You are not allowed to speak of the mistakes the Watchtower Society made if you are an active witness. You will be labeled a trouble maker and if you persist you will be disfellowshiped. Think about that. No freedom of speech. Witnesses are ignorant of their history.

Charles T. Russell was categorically NOT the founder of the JWs. He was long dead when they came on the scene by that name under Rutherford. Russell was a devout man of God.

Stop and think before your criticize someone. When you say Jesus sadi he and the father are one, Simple math should tell you that is 1 or 2 people not three because a trinity is 3. Where is the 3rd person. CT Russel and his family had nothing to do with placing a Pyramid on his grave. That was placed there years latter after his death by a small group that broke off from the society.

Please note what is stated in the Watchtower publication; The Souvenir Report of the Bible Student's Convention Pittsburgh, Pa Jan 2-5 1919;

"In exact center of the Bethel lot will be erected diagonally the Pyramid Shape Monument as designed by Brother Bohnet, and accepted by Brother Russell as the most fitting emblem for an enduring monument on the Society's burial place."

This is NOT Russells headstone. His is across the way. This is a memorial marker that was constructed with room for the names of those Bible Students who die at headquarters to be remembered. After Russells name no others were added. Just image google C.T. Russell grave.

Correct, but his headstone is depicted in this video. It says that he is the "Laodicean Messenger" That would be the Faithful and Wise Servant. That's worse than the pyramid. The foundation of the WT Society's authority is the doctrine that Jesus returned as King invisibly in 1914, then in 1919 inspected all Christians choosing the WTS as God's people. Russell used the pyramid and other pagan approaches to support his Adventist doctrine of 1914 as the end of the world. When it didn't come Rutherford made it the beginning & not the END of the last days. Pyramids were central to the inspiration of the 1914 doctrine. zebdonk, you can rationalize anything, but that doesn't make it right. If you care about the "truth," vs. the "JW doctrine" then you have to view things from a neutral perspective, not starting with the position JW's are God's organization and then rationalizing all external data around that "fact." Once you truly examine things with an open mind, there is only one conclusion you can come to: none of us know the ultimate truth, particularly the JW organization.
