i truly love the song since years - but: i never do really understand the picture of "butterfly on a wheel"

any good explanation?

It´s an image taken from an editorial published in The TImes in 1967 by W.R. Mogg on what he saw as the absurd harshness of imprisoning Mick Jagger on a minor drug offence. You can read this explanation in the book about The Mission by Martin Roach from 1993. Hussey describes an affaír with All about Eve´s vocalist Julianne Regan in this wonderful song. Beautiful metaphor. Best song - ever! Hippie meets Goth meets New Romantic!
