I have to laugh at the comments in this post.. firstly let me make it clear, If that dog, was not playing that cat WOULD be dead. i have had bullterriers now for over 13 years.. when they attack they attack.. secondly if that cat was not playing it would run.
And i wish people would stop cross referencing the English Bullterrier, with the Pitbull, they are completely different breeds and temprements. Bullterriers are the most placid, loving, gentle dogs i have ever met.
We have both a mini BT and a 20 lb cat. Bullies always breathe heavy. And, our BT does the same exact thing with our cat. Sometimes, I'll walk into the room and find the BT just sitting on the 20 lb cat. They really do love each other and are just on the thirst for fun and adventure. Yes, they are stubborn and hard to train but worth the work - incredible companions!!!

well train it then, if you teach it just a lil bit it wont want to go for it (or if the cat claws the dog) but they DO figure it out. i have hadd 2 cats and 4 bullies and they allways get allong once a bit of disaplin is put in.
This is not a dog that is behaving well. You may think he is playing, the dog may think it is playing, but the cat is scared to death. Not appropriate no matter how you slice it. Our family gets along great because of good training. No chasing, or pestering the cats.
Wish I could send you a picture of Laney (Bull Terrier) and the cats napping on the couch. These are wonderful dogs and love people and other animals. I just think the dog in this video is being allowed to behave badly that's all. It looks like it could use a bath and some vitamins as well.
He might sound unhealthy, but we don't know how long he's been playing or what he's been up to before the video. He may just be tired. Also my dog makes these noises when he plays, its not unhealthy its just a thing they do (Like mumbling lol)
well said! I dont consider that as an possibility as having "only one pet" like having only bullterrier.. Bullterrier is one of the hardest dogs to train so people should think maybe twice about not only HAVING ONE pet but about training the dog well!

You are wrong. Cat wasn't so scared, actually it wasn't scared at all. If the cat was so scared it would run away. It is clear that the cat has been used to situations like this. I've had fox terriers for 20 years, so I know how scared cat looks like.
@marlee4K9S, I don't know if you have ever had a cat...but trust me (I've had cats my entire life), that cat isn't scared or angry. It's slightly annoyed, but not terribly...it's contemplating mauling the dog, but that's about it.
There are a lot of cats that dogs better stay away from. Search for "pinky the cat" and imagine what would happened if a dog went for that cat. I know of an adult german shepherd that got too close to the wrong kitty, they had to put the dog down afterwards. :(
@marlee4K9S - I often wonder if these people who claim animal abuse at every turn have some serious psychological problems. They're probably the types that claim every fight they ever had was somebody else's fault and that it was emotional abuse against them.

Before I got my 2 pitbulls, I knew NOTHING about the breed. I did research to find a dog which was best for me. I went to a book store a brought a few books on hundreds of breeds. Pitbull was named the best dog for training, good temper, good with kids, with the less amount of medical problems. Maybe you should read up on it to. You might learn a ting or two.

The fact that pittbull (or rottweiller or whatever) are so implicated in dog fights and other kills means there is something wrong with domesticating these kind of dogs.
It should be illegal to own a statistically dangerous dog as it is illegal to own an alligator or a kodiak bear at home.

its the way you train them, i have an english bull terrier (the gladiator dog made selctivly bred to kill other dogs) and she is very loving to other dogs human kids ... but we have trained her to not like huddies and pikies (so she hates them)
Bull terriers have a history of dog fighting too, in fact most dog breeds do. Bull dogs, boxers, mastiffs, etc.
And as for why they're "illegal" in some states, that's because liberal politicians are ass hats. The reason you hear about pit bull attacks is because they have abusive owners who don't care about how they interact with other dogs or other people.
