It's not about how fast or technical you can be, it's about how good are your songs! And this song pretty much sucks big time! It's boring and predictable!
Lacuna Coil is a band where the vocals are the focal point. Yes, these riffs are simple but they're SUPPOSED to be because they're meant to compliment the vocals (which they do well). The talent here is not about how much of a rock star shredder you can be, but how well you can work your role as a guitarist in with the rest of the band in order to MAKE A QUALITY SONG.
The simplicity of the song is all well and good, but I really wasn't impressed by the tone of the pickups in this video either. I really think it's to do with the players, though.

Alot of people use stephens model, chris garza, devin townsend, the one guy from threat signal (cant think of his name) just to name a few. Have yet to hear a bad thing about stephens signature guitar yet.
Also the Signature guitar from Stephen that's an LTD isn't really "his guitar". It's just a copy of his real one. He uses ESP's that are probably made outta the best materials.

Listen, this is why this has 120 dislikes. There's no backing track for this, that's why it sounds so plain. On the other EMG vids, there are the backing tracks for the songs they are playing, which makes it sounds more like a complete song.

@simulclass83 I have the Spider Valve HD100 and it's not what I'd call a crappy amp… But I think it counts as a Bogner amp, since the only "line6" things it has are the built-in effects.
What everyone seems to miss is they aren't trying to dazzle us with flash guitar, they are playing the backing to a song, which in the context of the song works very well indeed! have a listen!!
Technical ability is essentially a phallic symbol in my opinion. It's the equivalent of a meat head jock in high school whose popularity relies on his performance in football and how much he beats up geeky kids.

@simulclass83 I have the Spider Valve HD100 and it's not what I'd call a crappy amp… But I think it counts as a Bogner amp, since the only "line6" things it has are the built-in effects.
