Church is not a fragment AI. He's the first AI. Church was modeled after the director of Project Freelancer (Dr. Lenard Church). The Alpha AI (Church) was then subjected to torture which then split the AI into personalities. Omega (anger), Delta (logic), and Epsilon (Memory) Etc. Tex is also an AI, but so far that's all the story explains. My guess is that she is another Alpha AI modeled after a person who took part in Project Freelancer.

One, Tex's name is Allison, not Alice, and two, it was never said in RVB that the woman the director loved was married to him. Or even his girlfriend. He could of just had a crush on her and she died. She might not have even died, just gotten married to someone else. The director could have just gone insane and try to recreate her and gotten tex the AI as the end result.

First off all, it's Leonard Church. And Tex is the love that Dr. Leonard Church lost early on in his life. That's why she got so much special treatment from him. He remodeled his lost love into an AI, which she is alongside Church... His reproduction of himself. That's how I view it, anyway. When you put it in that context it all makes sense, because he said the loss of his love profoundly affected his life.

For example, he tries so hard to keep her from getting hurt in season 3, or when Tucker right-out says "You're still in love with her!" he doesn't deny it, or in Reconstruction he IMMEDIATELY agrees to go with Washington as soon as he says they're going to find Tex.
