A couple of years ago when things weren't looking good there, McCain rightfully insisted a surge of troups. this surge was something that Bush didn't want to do but was forced to do after the 2006 elections. That surge worked which is why you don't hear much about the war these days. Lastly, your idea of "if you're a McCain fan, your a Bush fan" is frankly too silly for words.
