If I wanted to hack your macbook over a LAN I would do it from a Unix based OS that is open source (easier to create and use exploiting software).

I'll explain. If you want to get £10 000 out of a hack, but you needed a computer, what would you go for to ensure that you would get the most money at the end. £300 PC, or a £800 MacBook? PC you would get £9700 back, whereas MacBook you would get £9200 back. It doesn't matter how much cash the hacker has, if the hacker can maximise profits, it will.
