  • So, if someone is stuttering in mid-word and I assume well enough what the word is, does it help if I say it to them?

If so, is that what the speech-easy thing is about?

  • Man, just let her speak. We don't like it when you try to finish our sentences. We can talk for ourselves, it just takes longer

  • This SpeechEasy device does NOT work long-term; it is not a cure by a long shot. I'm not surprised, however, seeing as how stuttering is a physical/chemical BRAIN-BASED disorder. Someone needs to develop medicine that actually tackles the underlying root cause of stuttering (i.e. by altering the abnormal chemical reactions in a stutterer's brain).

  • has anyone heard of "Stutter stop" device? it supposely cheaper and the same as speech easy

  • What they don't tell you is that it doesn't work long term, so they charge you $5,000 for a hearing aid that will help you speak temporarily.

  • This is a fantastic device, and delayed auditory feedback machines have been around for a while, just never one this small, portable, and unobtrusive. I wish people who stutter can all have this, but $5000 is just corporate robbery!

  • wow, I didn't even know this thing existed. I need to order one for my mom who has suffered from stuttering for 45 years

  • The parents DID NOT put her in a special needs class because of the stuttering you idiot! The school did, I am a stutterer myself, and am getting a speecheasy device provided by the government. So if you would maybe go talk to your vocational rehabilitation service office in your area, you could stop bitching about the price... GO PRICE A HEARING AIDE, IT'S THE SAME COST!

  • Putting your child in a special needs class because of stuttering is the worst thing you could do to a kid. I've been put in special needs when i was a kid, and all it did was mess up my self confidence, and held me back on learning more important things. Been picked on, made fun of from friends. Once you're in there, nobody takes you seriously, not even your parents. But nothing hurts as much as when your parents treat you like a child, even when you're grown up.

  • I have a stutter, i can't even start off a sentence properly and i get stuck on words with H in them. But i have found the girl of my dreams, she stutters aswel but to me she is perfect in everyway. I am one happy guy :)

  • @jtaimeht

That is inspiring if it's true! A girl who stutterers--rock on!

  • in the beginning of the video, this was what i was thinking:

    "God... Fuck You!"

  • Good Video, See the New & Affordable "anti- stutter tool" (click on my name)"

  • You're not putting her on the spot that's how stutterer's talk:)

  • I have a nasty stutter problem--so meeting any girl like this would be a dream come true....

  • @happy7117 you is right, i have a slutter so hate when i have to pick up the phone

  • DAM THE MOM IS A MILF!!!

  • @delacerdaa

    Ha! My sentiments exactly!

  • To my knowledge, I was the worst stutterer in my graduating class of exactly 200. Why couldn't I have met a girl like this, she is very attractive. I would have gone out with her in a heartbeat. Being a teen is hard enough, but stuttering makes it that much more worse.

  • @TheWayItHappens

So right there with ya! Us males that have a stutter should be on the lookout for stutter girls who share the same frusteration as we do.

  • mandy!!! i'm crying!! i know exactly where your coming from!! God bless you!

  • i stutter but not as bad as i use to and i'm not as shy, i don't want to sound conceited but i'm very good looking. i've been told by almost everyone i meet. and its hard to talk to girls, especially on the phone, picking up and saying "hello" is very hard for some reason. sometimes i say "yello" its works, go figure!! i also find it alot easier to go up to someone instead of them coming to me. anybody out ther thats like that?? i'm blessed with a great sense of humor, so i'm told. its easier!

  • if theres anyone out there who stutters i would like you to send me a message ive been wanting to find somene who stutters like me i feel like im the only one :(

  • @300708997 i stutter

  • I'd like to hear the follow up in a year and find out where the miracle device is then. It will likely be in a drawer somewhere.

  • I feeeeel soo sad :(

  • What does severe stutterer mean??

  • @happy7117 its super bad. Like super bad stutterer.

  • @TuRmoiLxx

    That's what I got--a super hurtful stutter....

  • My Dad was willing to work 2 jobs to get me this device. But I tried it, and it did nothing for me. It does sound like there is an echo in your head, and that there is someone standing slightly behind you talking with you. It's strange. lol. Happy it worked for her.

  • The mom is so Pamela Anderson like!

  • @largebannana

Must not be so bad if you are a lawyer. One can't be a lawyer if they stutter very severely.

  • I would love this thing desperately. She is so lucky she got that thing as a gift. If she had to pay the $4,000, or $5,000 which is how much it costs, she probably wouldn't have it to help her.

How does anyone who suffers from this problem get it for free like she does!

  • @ happy7117:

Indeed the $5000 price tag is expensive, but do you have health insurance? Health insurers will usually cover a significant amount of the cost of disability devices/aids like wheelchairs, hearing aids, etc... The "Speecheasy" device would likely be classified under "disability devices", so see if your health insurance covers it.

  • I think he thinks that it is upsetting for the stutterer to read and speak, but it's not, He feels embrassed or something. That is just how we talk there is nothing wrong with is

  • I dunno why but i have the feeling that its marketing

  • cuz it is

  • I wil be going to buy speecheasy after 2 month, please tell me if it doesnt work. I've heared bunch of neatives about it.;

  • My dad has a minor stutter and I have it, as well as 2 of my brothers and one niece and a 2 yr old nephew that I think has it. I think with me since i also was born with my fingers from my left hand deformed and I`m really self conscious about my big ears, that when i stutter it all piles up on me at that time and that makes it worse.

  • I think device works only for those who think it works. It is like a lie detector it works only if suspects thinks that it works. So called Placebo effect.

  • Paying so much for a device that has so much loopholes. This is just something that uses delay and pitch, two things you can easily get out of a media player. The reason they're charging so much is because it is more convenient than other products. If I know I can't get a word out, I stop and act as if i'm trying to remember, then say I forget. This is embarrassing in a lot of settings though, as once I was asked to tell which church I was from, and said I forgot. A horrible mental affliction.

  • ok, that was so rude interupting her on that word, she was trying to read. I wouild have been so mad. You asked me to read, I am reading

  • Ahh poor girl. She was trying to read and speak up, and that guy kept interrupting her. thats so hard!! weirdo.

  • yeah, I find talking somewhat easier tha reading because it's not written in stone, u can change the words. With reading it's not ur words

  • This device costs thousands of dollars.

  • thats her mama???

  • she says, "praise god for this device" twice...

god gave her the stutter that has made her personal life since childhood, hell. science has helped her stutter.

    PRAISE SCIENCE!!

  • Yes but who made science?

  • science is something that was "made". it's the study and accumulation of data concerning how the natural world works.

pretty sad you don't understand what science is....

get out of your church and go hit up the library once in awhile. maybe you'll learn something.

  • Wanna know something funny? I actually posted that comment from a library computer, I was doing research for my science class at my summer camp.

  • i don't see how thats funny...

  • @thisguysajerk

Science is just an abstract idea about human knowledge of seeking truth in nature. It's better to say: praise the person who invented the device not science itself. But who gave that person intelligence? She believes God worked in that person and her to get her problem resolved. So praising God is right too.

  • @2008jblue "But who gave that person intelligence?"

Who made you ask such a silly question?

"So praising God is right too."

No. You are wrong. There's no god to praise.

  • u c how when she explains her stuttering she doesn't stutter

  • That's an example of irony!

Probably when a stutterer explains something that effects them greatly, or that their realy passionate about--it helps them to not stutter.

  • her mom is freaking hot....

  • I totaly agree there!

  • no problem!

if they laugh at u, say to them:

"u laugh becuz im different, i laugh becuz ur all the same!"

    i read tht somewhere, lol!

  • They have an app for iphone/ipod touch that works the same way as this thing does look it up on the app store "DAF assistant" ipod + app = cheaper then $5000! It has a trial too.

  • Cool , any more info on this? Have you used it?

  • how come all the ppl that stutter r smart??

i stutter, and it can get quite bad, but im not a straight A student or a bright student....

i am bright...but not in everything!!

    like these stutters r geniuses.....

sooo many ppl ask me "why do u stutter"? in a very sarcastic way.

i came up with a reply:

    1. u got a problem? does it affect ur life

    2. how many ppl in this world stutter? not as many.....so im special and ur not!

lol, no1 has ever replied to tht!

    =)

  • i got the school dux and i stutter

but i was in all the worst classes because all the teachers thought i was a complete fucking retard

  • yeah, i agree, i think im kinda smart. but ppl always think that i am stupid and retarded because i cant read and talk. so it's like, A+ for writing and D for speaking. hahaha

  • I have a speech block, but with that response it makes you seem defensive and somewhat on the offensive.

  • The cost of this device is unbelievable and cruel. I just don't have $5000 to spend on it.

  • I can just about guarantee you that there is no fucking way the technology in that device warrants a 5000 dollar price tag. Basically they were saying it is a delay unit. It can't be all that different from an electric guitar delay unit effect that is variable and you can set the delay anywhere from fractions of a second to fairly long. If the demand goes way up for them and other companies start making similar models as competition....you'll see this device go down to about 100 bucks...if that.

  • Personification of cruel: a device to help others that is out of their reach....

  • @uforeader

I don't have that kind of money either

  • i look at people around me an i say to myself these guys don't know how lucky they are to speak fluently. for me i stuggle almost everyday in life because of my stutter.

  • 100% right there with you. People don't know how good they have it being able to just say what they want when they want.

Speech is what we should be taking for granted, but we can't because our talking is not normal.

  • i no how u feel im the same

  • 5000 dollars thats stupid i stutter how can i affoard this. finally relief for stutterers and so expensive. this is stupid 500 dollors is reasonable.

  • $500 I can afford. But $5000 is nightmtarishly cruel and a slap on the wrist.

Many people like me for example could benefit from this but we can't because we don't have $5000.

Makes me want to puke-- something to help us but we can't afford it when we, especialy I need it.

Whoever makes these prices for these devices should be shot and dead.

If they stuttered themselves and they couldn't afford the device, they would be in agony too.

    S.O.B's.

  • Yeah that's totally FUCKED UP! I was going to get this but after I heard about the price, forget it!! I'm going to stick with the traditional speech therapy.

  • my opinion...stuttering can not be cured because it's not a disease. Stuttering is just a way of speach. The words infact are not the real problem it's the feeling you have about yourself and your suttering.

There's no cure for stuttering cause ''normal' speech can also not be cured! I pray that S.E won't make things worse.

If your sutteringrate will grow while using the S.E what are the effects in a few years from now when you''re not using this device? Be wise an objective.

  • Bullshit..This device is he best example of how people who stutter are being fooled and exploited knowing their strong desire to speak fluently. you pay 5000$ for a device that will work for few weeks and then become useless piece of junk

  • The people who charge these prices should be killed for using our misery and desperation to sell their product...

I so want one of these to ease my stutterings, but 5,000 is a slap in the face...

These uncompassionate SOB's should have a heart already.....

  • that device doesnt work for everyone i tried it and it didnt work for me.ALthough i must say this is a big step forward in finding a cure.why do stuttering people not stutter when singing or talking in harmony with other ppl.THERE WILL SOON A A CURE FOR STUTTERING ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME

  • Yup Im with you, the prophet Mohmmed used to say " Allah had put a cure for everything on earth"

  • Maybe if device sellers who slapped these 4,000, and 5,000 price tage for this thing stuttered themselves, they would know how nasty it feels to need one of these.

If these sellers knew how it felt to stutter which they don't, I bet they would lower the price to one we could all afford.

They prey off our misery and desperation--that's more humilating then stuttering--almost. stuttering.

  • Disreguard that extra "stuttering" word at the end. Wrote it by mistake.

  • In all niceness and from personal experience, I disagree. Not hating your response but I don't feel the same way as your comment says.

The more we stutter, the more likely others are to finish for us because we our taking to long with trying to speak.

Most stutterers like me just can't get our words out no matter how much we may struggle, and that's a very uncomfortable and embarrassing feeling.

Patience for me does not make it any easier for me to get me words out.

  • cont.

Wheather we stutterer's like it or not, we need to accept the fact that people will cut us of or try to help us when we are stuck.

It's not our fault we stutter, and we should not get mad at others who try to help us.

Humiliating?? It is more humiliating for a listener having to hear all the stuttering we do.

I still don't understand why some seem to think that stutterers will have an easier time with a little patience.

  • cont.

And we should not be mad at those who hurry us especialy in a restaurant setting.

We need to understand that we will be rushed or interupted ONLY IF we stutter to much--waiters and waitresses can't spend an enourmous time waiting for us.

Swallow it and write are order down. That's what I do.

  • i agree with you i actually want people to finish my sentences because i get so frustrated when im taking so long its lkie im being tortured. it makes it worse when everyone is looking at me struggling to speak. but i guess some stutters are fighters and want to finish there own sentences.

  • What are we- like cut from the same cloth or something!!

I feel the same way you do. The more I stutter, the more people wait. The more people wait for me, the more I stutter.

It is not fair for us to struggle on and on, and then have people wonder why they didn't undetsrand us, when they could have if they helped us.

It's the listener's fault because they are doing all the wrong things to help us.

  • its a good invention but the price is unbelievable

  • Indeed! I would love to have this device as I suffer terribly from this stuter thing, but I can't afford this device.

It's an outrage that we need something so bad, but can't get it because it costs so much.

It's so sickening people will slap a price tag that says "you can't get it! HA! HA!"

Especialy when they know we suffer so bad.

    They shold be hung!

  • i stutter too and watching this girl brought a tear to my eye

  • It truly is inspirational and gives us hope that these devices work for some stutterers, but NOT all stutterers.

But it's something I don't get choked up over.

I try not to get sentimental over stuff like this!!

  • i think its fake

  • is it just me or does the woman in the red I think she's a speech teacher, doesn't she look like Amy Matthews on Boy Meets World

  • I stutter and my friend who also stutters tried it and it didn't work

  • This device will not work for certain kinds of stuttering.

Silent blocks where no sound comes out will make this device useless.

  • DId you try it? I have lots of blocks when I talk.

  • Damn, watching this causes me so much hurt, it feels terrible. It feels so because I absolutely understand how she felt as a teenager since I felt the same. But I don't think her stuttering is severe. She can express herself very well.

  • But for the unlucky ones like me, stuttering can be severe or nasty where we cruely can barely talk!

  • hell yea and more worst when you are a child kids are cruel toward anybody that stutter

  • Luckily, and I do mean luckily I was never teased or made fun of or mocked because of my stuttering.

I guess because if they had made fun of me:

1- I would have never forgiven them

2- If kids made fun of us, all we need to know is that we are far more superior then them because of the fact we are smarter and more mature than they ever will be.

  • Fantabulous video. The cruel thing is though, that aid is like $4,000, and many people who stutter may not be able to afford that nightmarish price, so they cannot get the device.

She should consider herself lucky she won that contest to win a free device.

Suppose she had not won that device to relieve all that stuttering pain??

Had she not won that contest, she probably would be still stuttering greatly.

All stutterers should be getting this device for free. It's a slap in the face.

  • everyone that makes fun of stutterers should BURN IN HELL!

  • that reporter dude is so dumb.

  • No, don't praise God, praise SpeakEasy!

  • THAT'S EXPENSIVE!

  • i wish i had one of those, i dont stutter much with my friends but i stutter alot when i'm nervous

  • I'll try it.

  • O yeah, i found this tip online stating that if you say the word in your head a few times befoe you say it, then your wont stutter, but my question is does this takes practice to master this technique for your stuttering to get better ? (sorry for double post but i have to find out )

  • yea but what they dont tell you is that after a while of using it, your brain get use to the device and its back to stuttering, i was gonna buy it but my speech thearpist told told me about it.

  • I stutter to, but not this bad, my mates are great and dont tease me, infact we like speaking in unison like the SpeachEasy, it dose work abit!

  • that host was such a dick, kept interrupting her

  • I stutter slightly, and know someone who stutters a bit. I know he didn't mean it to be harmful, but at times yeah- when you are stuttering, you think it's rude if someone tries to finish your sentence for you, like you can't do it yourself. It's a bit of give and take, and I knew he didn't mean any disrespect.

  • It's not rude to finish a stutterer's sentence. They are trying to help a stutterer, and a stutterer should accept help from anyone or anything that can help them speak easier.

A stutterer at times cannot say things themselves so they should not brush of those who are trying to help them.

Just my honest opinions based on watching the video, and reading others comments.

  • @Thugmunk

People finish a stutterer's sentence because they can't do it themself. That's the point. Instead of putting the stutterer through frusterating trouble, listeners should finish a stutter's words.

  • @happy7117 Yeah I hear ya. There is definitely a fine line but I agree with what you are sayin'. It'll help push things along a bit too :D

  • @happy7117 Trust me, when someone finishes of my words i get pissed off, its like they think we are unable to do it for ourselves. So yeah from someone who stutters, don't ever finish our words

  • @jtaimeht

You must be a mild stutterer if you don't like people finishing your words. If you can say stuff on your own easiler, your stutter must not be so bad.

Speak for yourself and not on the behalf of other stutterers. Extreme stutterers will never ever be able to say what they want on their own. People that can barely speak will want others to help them. People should finish words for extreme stutterers that can't spit out what they want to say.

  • @happy7117

For those that have a speecheasy because they can miraculosuly afford one, they will be able to speak easier so they will not need to be helped by others. Stutterers need to wake up and realize that people don't have eternity to wait out a person who can't speak. If the stutter is mild people will wait for you, but if it's an extreme stutter people should be obliged to help you because you already making them uncomfortable.

  • heres the thing. whoc ares that u stutter. i got a moderate stutter sometimes. but i dont stutter as much as blocks... like my mouth open and no sounds coming out but its only for a few combinations of sounds. at my job im even learnin to speak spanish which is frustrating becuz im actually kinda fluent right now in the usage of my words but i dont sound it becauze i have to alter my pronounciation for my stutter. theres setbakcs but if ur happy with urself thats all that matters.

  • Can you imagine that I'm currently driving the 18 wheels truck even if I have a degree of college?

    Just because I'm a stutter.

I know how she feel about her problem.

And, the device is freaking cost it too much!

You know how many miles I have to drive to make $5,000 net?

    someboby help me

  • There is no known "cure" for stuttering. But, I am a person who stutters, and I have just finished a program. I am now a fluent speaker. This program is at the Hollins Communication Research Institute. It is a wonderful program, and if you stay with it and work hard, you will br fluent

  • tragic. this device doesn't work, and when the effect wares off, she will go back stuttering like she used to.

  • It has helped some poeple so stop being so mean and try to to better than speecheasy before saying anything else.

  • Stuttering is a physical problem, people who say its a psychological problem are full of crap. I have a stuttering problem, nowhere near as bad as this girls though. Its definitely a physical problem or something wrong with the brain, when I'm tired and haven't rested I find it hard to come out with any words.

  • I have the same symptom as you. When I feel tied or don't have enough sleep last night, I stutter hard, however, after got some rest, my speech may kind of turn normal. Some may say this due to the oxygen provided to one's brain, when tied or sleepy, the oxygen in the brain became less, then stutter happens. Is it truth?

  • I have tried this device myself as I am a person who stutters. It is sad to say that this device does not work with all of us. It most significant flaw of this device is that cannot deal with the speech blocks.

  • I swear! When I have rehearsed exactly what I am going to say over and over and go for a run before hand I feel much more relaxed, calm and actually prepared for the presentation. And the breathing really does help. Another is the ummmms and ahhhhs like when most people present...I find if I do that when I feel I am about to stutter it allows my vocals chords to keep going and therefore no stutter. These are not permanent cures..just a few tricks to make presentations manageable.

  • Portuguese stutter here. I feel bad for this girl, her stuttering is very severe. Not easy living with this difficulty. But the best thing is to say that you stutter, when you are about to.. And have a laught with it, that will put the other person more confortable and obviously you. You´ll relax. That works a lot well with me. Che che cheers! :P :D

  • Hey everybody I stutter quite badly but I did find a pretty good way to control it. One way that i found was to adjust my breathing techniques when I talk. I found that when I took a subtle breath before each sentence it became easier to talk in a more fluent motion. Another way to control it was to do some type of physical activity a couple of hours before let say a presentation. I found that when I was in good shape that my heart rate was lower which made my heart rate lower causing relaxation

  • This device, I hate to say, is a huge CON. Any stammerer can enjoy short relief by methods like singing, shouting or whispering. None of these, though, provide the absolute closure the sufferer needs and deserves. This profit-making company does not want to cure its customer base any more than your local butcher wants you to go vegan. They need the stammerer to keep returning for replacements and parts. CH-CHING! (continues below)

  • I'm planning on getting one of these, I have been stuttering all my life. Fellow stutterers please email me through here if you want to chat on AIM or Yahoo.

  • pore girl i studdder too

  • she's so sweet, she deserves a better life, poor thing. I stutter as well, but far far less severely than her... so I feel her pain to say the least. I hope she starts feeling better.

  • ive been stuttering since 18 from malaysia and i see wat this women is going through...its not easy dealing with this but u gotta always stay positive.

  • This is nothing but commercial for a commercalized product. You can obtain the same result with any distraction. I know, I spent fifty years with a very severe stutter.

There are so many theories about the cause of stuttering that everyone is stil grasping at straws to figure out what causes stuttering.

  • I think putting her in the spot makes her stutter.

  • ive been stuttering since i came from puerto rico (which was 2nd grade) and i see wat this women is going through...its not easy dealin wit this but u gotta always stay positive.

  • she's brave. I would never do that. Way too embarrasing.

  • i`ve been stuttering since 3rd grade and it changed my accent and my mom don`t even talk to me that much cos hs ecan`t hear me i speak fast

I feel liek crying about this girl

speech therapy don`t help that much

and for those who laugh at me FUCK YOU

can you imagine that m a professionl and i couldn`t get a Job

  • goddamnit, quit interrupting her! let her speak!

  • lol agreed. He's just making it worse.

  • I had it for a while then it grew legs and walked away over night in my house. The state paid for it bc its a load of $. I need to buy another one but they came out w/ one that's even smaller and less expensive. I'm 22.

  • I would have been her friend in high school.

  • Same, I would have probably gone out with her to boost her confidence.

  • that is the bravest thing i have ever seen mandy do i am so proud of her

  • shit i stutter and nobody dares make fun of me....they know im like one of the best rappers even wit a stutterin problem ya dig

  • what the hell do you take stuttering for? I am a female and I stutter, and I like a good life.

  • Female stutterers are rare. I like this girl, she plays guitar like I do as well!

  • The inventors may never admit this, but this device is making them rich.

  • One more thing, people who make fun of stutterers are ASSHOLES. Good job picking on people for something that's beyong their control, bitch-made punks. Karma has a way of biting people in the butt.

  • I've read an interesting fact that stutterers have IQ's 10-14 points higher than the general population. I'm glad there's devices like this for stutterers to help them communicate more effectively. The price range is between $3900-$5000 but if you're in a Vocational Rehab program, they'll pay for it.

  • I've never read about this study, but the things I have read gave me the impression that this might be the case. People who stutter apparently do so because they tend to process their speech from the right side of the brain while most people, (non-stutterers) process their speech using the left side.

  • I know something like this except its called the fluncy masterr..its a a little cheaper 4,000 dollers.

  • ive never seen a female stuter before until i saw this

  • Interesting!! I attend to stutter most of the time especially if your a fuckn fast talker lol..

  • I too stutter, and had my evaluation for the device a week ago and i was even more improved than this, its an amazing invention, the hard part is finding a way to pay for it, still working on that one, but my results hit me so hard that I will do anything for it

  • I'm so glad it worked for u! hope u feel better about urself.

Now if only the price was more affordable =/

  • I also stutter and when im put on the spot i struggle really badly to get wordso ut... a evice like this word rock.

  • I am a stutterer and u no what, whenever i see another stutterer i just feel like giving him/her a hug, .

...ppl have no idea what its like for us folks. I dont stutter AS severly as her tho, but i break down at the sight of another stutterer. love you's

  • Truth. I'm a fellow stutterer, and my sentiments exactly. If only there were more awareness about how it is for us, it would be much easier.
