@BlackmanTFRC Actually this IS the original version of the song, not a remix. My crew & I produced KRS-One's entire "LIFE" album released in 2006. That album featured Footsoldiers on 4 different songs. KRS also got down on 2 songs on the Footsoldiers album "Live This" released the same year. We recorded both albums around the same time, in the same studio and kinda go hand in hand. To promote both albums Tony Touch hosted & mixed the official Footsoldiers mix CD. This song debuted on it 2006.
Then 2 years later in 2008 he released "Maximum Strength". Unbeknownst to the beat maker, the label we put those out on, & myself he decided to put this song on that album. But not the completed/mixed version you hear in this video. That's why the beat on the "Straight Through" version is just a loop. He actually used the incomplete/unmixed version with scratch vocals of only his 1st verse on it. He replaced my hook and verse with some other prewritten verse he had laying around.
I think he used that old verse cuz it said "2005" in it to hide the fact he pretty much jacked the song without asking. I think he did give my homie who made the beat a credit but my homie was still bummed cuz it's the unfinished and unmixed version of the beat. =-/
@BigShame@BigShame thank you for all the info. But I knew this was an original recording, I typed remix (i chosed wrong word) cause I wanted to say that there is also another mix which is only KRS. I didn't know all those things you said, but now the whole story make sense to me. I will have this video played in the Blazemaster Jam International 2011 that will be hosted in Athens next month. I hope you don't mind.
This song is "Straight Through" of KRS1
& it is remixed in the middle where Shames Worthy starts singing.
