I actually liked the Geneon dub of the series -- even though it wasn't accurate, it was pretty funny. I wish they'd finished the series, though. It's been over ten years and I still haven't been able to see it all.
Actually they tried making it accurate with things people might know in the US, cause in Japanese we might not get their jokes. You can buy the DvD's that have the original text if you are not happy with the english dubs.
Well, sometimes they just added new jokes in there, rather than changing jokes. There were some scenes where a character wasn't even saying anything funny and they'd add a joke in there for the lulz
