man... I cried a lot remembering those days! We when used to sit down in front of tv, we knew something magical an unique was about to happen, because Michael Jordan was playing. Today, we don't have such a feeling like that!
Those were the days...I loved NBA on NBC! Huge mistake for NBC not to still be locked into showing games! It wasnt over the top like half the broadcasts are now..using slang in every other word! I hate hearing a Stuart Scott highlight.....it ruins the sports I like. Dont even get me into all these former NBA players that are now analysts! You would think they would have a actual opinion instead of being political with every answer and they would know how to speak proper english!
that intro an nbc theme music is classic, that is when basketball was at its best! it was nothin like watchin those games an on sundays doube an triple headers all day on nbc,ill never forget those days!
@nitropr I am a Rockets fan but I must agree. My three Favorite NBA Stars of all time were Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Jordan and Larry Bird. All three would do anything it Took to Win.
people love watching the NFL and nascar but I've never gotten the excitement and passion from those that I have from these intro's....90's nba and BULLS impossible to beat!!
I play basketball everyday at various parks in my city and no one screams ''KOBE''. People still say ''Jordan'' on a daily basis. Many factors come into play as to why Kobe isn't as respected as Jordan. The main reason being that Kobe was accused of raping a girl. People still remember the drama that came from that. Plus while Kobe may be a great player, he never innovated the sport like how Jordan did. Kobe basically emulated Jordan's style. There is no Kobe style.
Intros like this were great back in the day when there were real rivalries in the NBA. I don't feel that same type atmosphere. When the playoffs were going on back then, Everything shut down. It was like we were getting ready to watch an Ali fight. Those were great times!!!!
@chessman60619 so true man,so true!! Back then nba basketball was only about WINNING.....nothing else. Rivalries were bitter, filled with hatred(aka pacers, knicks). Regular season games were played with intensity because the players had some pride in themselves and their teams. When the finals started, life and time stood still....nothing mattered except that series, and those moments are forever burned into my head as memories i will never forget. Thanks MJ!
Bob Costas sure knows how to hype up an NBA match...NBA on NBC can never be duplicated, I don't care if its ABC, ESPN, TNT or NBA TV. Never again will you have suspense and anticipation for NBA games like most of us did back in these days!
Heyyo, you want Magic, Jordan and Bird on Showtime NBA on NBC The Game? then pick them up on CHAMPTV. I have their stats that me and my cousin(dahitman23)made in the description section on my channel. Please rate them and let me know what you think about them, peace and enjoy.
This was the flaw of the NBA on NBC. It made it all about the individual rather than the team. That's why CBS' coverage wil always be THE BEST. Of course NBC's work with the NBA was waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy better than the garbage being done by ABC.
he ain't gaining on him no where...he will never get 6 NBA Finals MVPs(NBA Record)(keyword: MVP!!!), 10 scoring titles(NBA Record), and the highest scoring avg in NBA History...but MJ got that!!!
@ca9999 on who? robert horry's 7 rings? sam jones' 10 rings? He sure as hell aint gaining on Mj's defensive domination, defensivel player of the year award, MJ's career scoring average in the nba finals, 41 ppg average in the 1993 finals...
took the words right out of my mouth man!!! No player tried to stand out wearing all this crap like they do now...back then when real basketball was played you stood out by your game plain and simple
I was watching the playoffs and how James is supposed to be the next Jordan. However, when it was just Kobe, they are trying to say that with the players he has around him that the Lakers could keep on winning titles. They compare Kobe to MJ. MJ was the next step from "The Doctor". Let the athletes play the game. One thing that IS missing is the gritty all-out play of old. A John Madden type of basketball! Could you see HIM calling NBA games! LMAO!
They were always on the same team. That's way MJ never won without Pippen. And when Pippen wasn't on the team Michael had absolutely nothing around him. So don't give me that bullshit argument.

jordan was the heart of the team but pippen was the driver of that ferrari...and to inform marv albert it was in game two when pippen shot done what was then the best player magic that made it possible for us to beat the lakers 4-1 therefore pippen deserves as much credit as mike....mike never won without pip and pip never won without mike them two were instrumental to each others success...

bob costas is the worst of the worst of ceremonious douchebags. does anyone remember that the sport is just ten sweaty black dudes trying to put a ball through a cylinder?
There is an interview with Ron Harper where he says that if you wanted to see Jordan at his absolute best, you would've had to have watched him go up against Pippen in practice. Harper said that is when he saw both Jordan and Pippen at their best. I think it's a solid testament to Pippen's skill level.
If they called the games back then like they do now where you can't even touch a guy on the perimeter, MJ would've averaged 40 ppg every year. Kobe just got shut down by a great defense, just like in the 04 Finals against Detroit. Put a taller, long defender on Kobe and he struggles.

You are a tool. MJ failed many times. Hence thats why he won 6 titles and not 13. He did not even make the finals until age 28 when he wasa almsot 29. MJ struggled vs rough teams like the Pistons and Celtics. Always lost to them in the playoffs. He is the greatest ever. But he is the greatest ever because he failed so many times. And never quit.
