  • Its playing of dream theater that makes me want to throw my bass out the window and then run over it in my car.. i watch it and become depressed...

  • are you tuned B-E-A-D-G-C or lower?

  • Far out man. I never even noticed these bass parts in the song. I wish they'd give John Myung more volume, what a legend

    You played that brilliantly, kudos

  • @jezza09187 Great cover indeed, but I think it's Myung's choice to have the bass quiet so it doesn't stand out too much. which, i find, is a shame because it is just unreal

  • gonna shit my pants from 0:41 and on....

  • i bet ur a demon in the sack

  • you've got to be fuckin' shittin' me!!! fuck you dude xD I wish I had that much of a speed in economy motion :D

  • awesome cover as usual, do you have a tab for this on your website like with domination? planning on buying a 6 string and would really wanna try learning this :)

and also do you have any tips on what model on the bass? thinking of Ibanez or Yamaha, live in Sweden though so some models will be hard to get :(

  • SWEET!! you're an awesome bass player!!!!!!

question- on my 5 string musicman i get kind of a cracking sound when i hit my B string through the amp. im using an ampeg 100W and i keep all the levels around 5

any tips? (sorry this isnt really related to your vid. just thought you might know)

  • May i sleep with you? *-*

  • this is awesome man

  • Hey Tony you have great skills and i really enjoy your covers! Im 17 and have been playing guitar for almost 5 years now and bass for about a year (just got the SR300 IPT 5 stringed) I wish you good luck! :)

  • Amplifier that advise me to buy with 400 $ ?

  • hey toni, quick question, how exactly are you playing the unison at around 40, are you just hittin the 8th 10th and 11th frets.?

  • first, how long did it take you to harden your ring finger? and did you do some special sort of training or just play as much as possible with it? second, when is the right time to change from 4-string to 6-string? been playing 4-string for a little more than 1 ½ years now. third, your fucking nuts, insanely great cover man, keep em comin

  • @zhaedox ( i realise you commented 2 months ago)

I personally switched from 4 to 5 string 3 months after learning to play, i would suggest moving from 4 to 5 to 6, but you can jump 4-6 if you play enough, if you live by a guitar shop (guitar center, etc.) it should be free to play the guitars there and get the feel, if you're comfortable playing your songs on a 6 string, consider making the jump, if not, try a 5 string for a few months and then jump up again. It's up to how comfortable youfeel

  • @xYiazmatx I have tried playing 6 string, though not 5 string, also found a good 6 string pretty cheap and since I dont have that much money I think that a change to a 5 string would make it take a long time before I could get a 6 string, thx for the feedback though man, kinda lost hope of getting answers :P

  • Vow :)

  • LOL...All 14mins?

    Damn, Long song.

Good work in this video, you truly never fail.

    Besides your skate video. XD

  • You Never fail to disappoint in all of your videos :D . Your awesome man :D

  • DUDE 0:49 INSANE!!!! i wish i was as good as you man, amazing

  • what strings do you use, tony? and also, does your bass suffer from sympathetic ressonance much? I've bought an ibanez SR535 recently, and am dealing problematically with string vibration lol. still getting used to it tho. great playing, dream theater ftw, u fucking rock dude :)

  • @Rafescow I use D'Addarios.

Sympathetic resonance is just a natural occurrence of string instruments in general (and really, sound physics in general). If you play your 7th fret harmonic on the G string and then mute it, the D string will continue to ring because it shares that same overtone. So sympathetic vibrations occurring on the bass aren't really the problem, the extra strings just need to be muted with either hand to prevent ringing.

  • @TonyDickinsonBG I was already suspecting that it could be a technique issue... because my former (crappy) bass didn't use to have as much sympathetic resonance as my new one, so I got a little bit scared of that, since I've never experienced it before. Thank you very much sir (I want ur music knowledge!! lols)

  • @Rafescow No problem :)

Ibanez guitars and basses are very well crafted instruments and a great deal for the money. On poorer quality instruments, you tend to have a more difficult time playing harmonics in general. For instance, a few ~$300 instruments I've played I've only been able to get up to a harmonic in between the 2nd and 3rd frets (If I'm lucky!). But on my SR506 I can hit harmonics between the 1st and 2nd frets! :O

  • So yeah, with that being said, it's pretty easy to see how sympathetic resonance would occur more often on a well crafted instrument.

  • @TonyDickinsonBG Actually I was thinking the opposite: that well crafted instruments would have LESS sympathetic resonance. Hehe, good to know that I was wrong. I can clearly see the difference between my old bass (which is ~$100) and the ibanez ($650). Yeah, I can hit harmonics between the same frets dude!! :D Feels so good! But I'm willing to change its strings (Elixirs don't do my taste) as soon as I have some money, and put some godly D'Addarios too! Again, thanks for the tips, you're great.

  • john myung licks mean nothing to you lol.

  • Wow, I'm simply amazed! Love your vids! Keep up the good work! =)

  • @_@

  • Insane cover man! keep the DT coming, they are gods, and so are you
