GUESS WHAT I FOUND TODAY? Naw, you couldn't possibly guess this one. I can hardly BELIEVE IT and I'm HERE! I found my old original copy of the "SINGLE SINGLE" (no "B" side) of this performance. 7" 45 RPM vinyl. Coming Up on one side, A black VINYL MIRROR on the other. Aaaand, still in it's iddy-biddy sleeve. Man, am I lucky or WHAT?
@scizotts My Dad had saved it (and a few other gems like "I Wanna Hold Your Hand / When I Saw Her Standing There) for me all these years. Guess it's time to oil-up my turntables & see which one STILL TURNS!
This was the version released on the B-side of the U.S. single with the McCartney II version on the A-side. But U.S. DJ's liked the live version better, so they played it instead of the studio version. Paul never intended for this version to be the hit, but that's how it worked out.
@texs2007 I still have that single, I was ten when my dad brought it home, and this live version continues to give me chills more than thirty years later! But I never understood the silly studio version.
Macca and Wings hit #1 in Billboard, 6-28-80. Love the live version better than the studio 1. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, the lovely Linda.
@sandinyourshoes It wasn't on the album itself, but Columbia Records (Paul's then-U.S. label) inserted a free 45 RPM single in the LP package that had this version, so fans of the live version wouldn't feel cheated.
@observer9670, it was a good solution, but I met many fans who bought the cassette, which did not offer that handy extra song on 45. Others got their copies of the LP used, and the original owners probably kept the singles! Years later there were new copies of the LP that no longer had a free 45 of the live version. It caused many to bash McCartney II. I never got stuck on this song. The whole album is good. I am also so pleased this album has been re-issued and expanded.

Many fans were angry when they heard this song but did not get in on McCartney II, getting instead the studio version which they said, "sucked."
