  • Fergalicious is a rip off of Throw the D by 2 Live Crew

  • You didn't catch that 3:00 is a rip off of Black or White by Michael Jackson? ;)

  • This is just a influence, inspiration!! Same Beatles borrowed many classic tunes in your career!!

  • The Papa Roach singer looks like a pussy version of Till Lindemann

  • if u hear papa roach interviewed at least they care about their music unlike most people today

  • The first song reminded me of Schism with Tool...

  • Hypocrisy!

  • i just love korn!<3<3<3

  • It's called influence.

  • Nice video! I liked the Megadeth-Arch Enemy correlation :D Though AILD's Separation does not really resemble the bass line from Hypocrisy. It's more like the 4400 theme and also RHCP's Californication.

  • ]v[EGADET]-[

  • Papa Roach also ripped off Maiden with the solo in Genghis Khan

  • Thats called Influence.

  • yes papa roach sucks

  • Papa roach have ripped off Maiden alot of times.

  • Um....... you forgot Kid rock only a couple thousand times.

  • Seperations was not a rip off... Just sayin

  • Didnt Crazy Town just use the sample from that german band? The whole album contain samples like Butterfly (samples RHCPs ditty song).

  • Ofc everybody's coping Maiden!Maiden is the best band ever!UP THE IRONS \M/

  • Man... I'd make the "it's impossible to write a chord progression without accidentally plagiarizing somebody" argument but these examples DON'T EVEN SOUND THE SAME!! (except for the last one - that one did) Very poor work...

  • Unless you truly have that riff in your head and have never heard it played before, don't use it.

  • the first two are similar...after that they all start to fall off....P-Roach rocked it the best though.

  • Korns Blind could possibly have been written before the Primus song cuz it was written by Jonathans old band Sexart witch started in 1989 :)

  • @OrielFilms I HIGHLY doubt Les Claypool thought, "yes.. with all my artistic abilities, I'm going to rip off KORN out of anyone." Experimentation is experimentation. If it sounds similar, it sounds similar. There are some artists and musicians who express similar interests and feelings, but the MAIN thing that's making it noticeable is the drummer keeping time; otherwise, you probably wouldn't be able to tell.

  • I thought the first Papa roach sounded more like "Symphony of Destruction" by megadeth

  • @Daracon75 :)

  • @Daracon75 :) I made this to entertain.

  • @Daracon75 1.) Every chord progression in existence has been used before? What the hell does that even mean? Do you realize how many alternative tunings, strings, chords, strumming/patterns, voicing, harmonics, musical methods and techniques (etc) there are? More than you and I could ever count, my friend. Regardless, many artists stick to the basics and with good reason: selling points (whether good or bad)

2.) The possibilities end with the artists limitations.

    3.) That's ridiculous.

  • @Daracon75 lol

  • I'm kinda surprised Blind didn't lead into Way of the Fist by Five Finger Death Punch.

  • Prowler: Thats the best maiden song...totally original great composition

  • fuck man, i love Primus and Korn and i never noticed that.

  • fucking crazy town!

    >:[

  • Well heres another one for ya to go with the Crazy Town rip-off. In 2003 UK Garage act "Jamieson" released the track "Complete," peaking at number 4 in the UK Chart. have a search for it, you'll see what i mean.

  • @jungleboyuk

haha, yeah. thanks for the hint.

  • Arch Enemy also has a song that sounds just like Bark At The Moon

  • why am i rewatching this

  • 1. he's singing not riffing

    2. voice not guitar

    3. theres no simularity

    4. what are you talking about?

    5. CORRECT!

    6. DIFFERENT LANGUAGE ALOT OF US CANT SPEAK!

  • @imxlnt2

regarding 6: the lyrics don't matter, they are different.

  • @imxlnt2 1. the voice is playing the same melodies as the guitar, don't be such a fucking jerk, asshole, according to your logic, if i play that riff in a violin and say it's mine, i wouldn't be a rip off because i wasn't using a guitar

2 has subtle changes, but you applied the same logic which still makes you an idiot

3 there IS similarity, you're just a fucktard

4 im guessing you're either being sarcastic, or you're reaaally stupid

    5 bravo

  • @imxlnt2 6 you applied the same logic but now with language theme!!!

and this one is stupider because the melody is exactly the same with the same instrument

    you fail horribly

  • papa roach and maiden very alike.

    Both are great so...hmm

  • @moshpittttt u said it ^.^ As for the rip off part...are these considered actual rip offs?

  • Camp Rock - I Got To Find You steals Simple Plan - Welcome To My Life (The chorus) Jonas Brothers - Love Bug Steals Jason M something - I'm Yours Jonas Brothers - Burning Up Steals Maroon 5 - *I don't remember the name* Miley Cyrus - Rockstar Steals Scotty Doesn't Know by a band in Euro Trip
  • wow. what a waste of time. I stumbled upon this vid (somehow) and........I don't hear any shocking similarities AT ALL. This attempt at whatever you were trying to accomplish is an EPIC FAIL. Sorry. Have a nice day......

  • its called inspiration!!! everyone who calls it ripping off is a dumbass lol

  • @ETERNALxREST13 but what about that last song? sounds a little too inspired, to me.

  • damn...that last one was just SAD.

  • papa roach suks man!

  • megadeth and maiden were the only good bands in this whole video.

  • the as i lay dying riff really isnt that close to those you compare it too

  • @TheGeorgeThompson

SCREW YOU EMO FAGGOT!!!! IF IRON MAIDEN SONGS ARE SO SIMILIAR,WHY DID PAPA ROACH RIPPED 'EM OFF!!??! And for that you said...they copied "only" 3 songs without knowing! First, you can't copy a song without knowing it (someone will sooner or later told you that you ripped it off). And if all Papa Roach songs are uniqe than all songs from Iron Maiden are more than uniqe!!!

  • Will everyone shut up about Papa Roach being a load of ''ripping off'' shit heads or whatever. Yeaaah they ripped off about 3 songs, probably without knowing. Atleats their songs are all unique. Every Iron Maiden song is exactly the same!

  • @TheGeorgeThompson when papa roach were formed iron maiden had already been together for 25 years- you can't compare them. If you want to have a clear opinion check out their whole discography. Up The Irons!

  • try and listen to can i play with madness then rime of the ancient mariner and tell me how that is "exactly the same"

  • n00b

  • Woah, Crazytown should be sued for that one.

  • that was defo the worst one yeh they shud be sued!!

  • @Severtized I second that. I'm sure RHCP allowed them to sample, since it's spot on. The only thing I'm pissed off about is that the second I heard that song I thought, "there's now way THIS band came up with such talented riffs and bass lines..tossed in with horrible lyrics..it makes no sense." Luckily, my old drummer was a massive fan of the Chili Peppers and started bitching the second I mentioned it. RHCP could've turned it into a single, easily, but I like how it turned out: wonder/unique.

  • the best rip off is when kid rock used the exact metallica track from sad but true in his american badass song

  • Most of these are obviously a huge stretch to call a rip off. One must determine a rip off from the body of the song, not just a small section. Popular music is amazingly limited in scope and substance. By design the industry wants catchy and familiar. If the audience is dumb....all the better for them. They can keep releasing the same junk over and over and the idiots will think it is new.

Most of you call a catchy "chant of the week" music. Your lack of insight creates the copy phenomenon.

  • well, none the less it's funny/interesting to watch, or else you wouldn't have watched this vid :)

  • that las one was a blatant copy, ever notice how the mos popular sogns are always stolen? (Viva la Vida, Revolving door, every avril livagne song, etc etc)

  • papa roach is just another stupid copy band

  • that last one was so funny

  • papa roach is bullshit. they copied maiden's riff from the middle of "genghis khan" for "last resort", and they stole lyrics for "scars" from the movie "red dragon". and i didnt even know about this other song until now

  • hip hop only ever sounds right by americans

  • not to be, rap is worse then horrible, its not music. its just bass and some ass talking about whores, jewelery and money.

  • The first one was a stretch, but others are obvious rip offs / a couple of weeks ago I was hooked I kept playing the same riff and it tok me a week to realise it was Hot for teacher - just in a different key....

  • lol the first song was a stretch?!?! i loooove maiden, and everytime i hear this song im like why did papa roach have to kill this song by trying to so blatantly steal from it

  • "Your video, Song Rip-Offs (a small selection) , may include audiovisual content that is owned or licensed by UMG ."

Well isn't that fucking ironic? :)

  • Papa roach stole everyones sounds. That's what happens when you learn how to play guitar on your own. You tend to play the songs you hear and make your own riffs based on other the other music you've played during practice/covers.

  • crazytowns song "butterfly" also

is directly from the chili peppers

    instrumental song "pretty little ditty"

  • k primus wasnt ripping off blind lol they just both use the same ride:p

  • uh, i wasn't saying this. i said that korn took primus' part and if i remember correctly it was intended as a tribute kind of thing

  • and papa roach

  • I think bullet for my valentine ripped off maiden too with forever and always

  • nirvana ripped off boston's more than a feelin when they played Smells like teen spirit hahaha

  • no nirvana admitted to ripping off Pixies.

  • Maiden-Roach:YES

    Hypocricy-Amanda-AILD:sort of

    KoRn-Primus: YES

    Megadeth-Arch Enemy:YES

    Crazytown-other ones: YES XD

  • Which songs of Megadeth did Arch Enemy take from?

  • A Secret Place

    v

    Shadows & Dust

  • Cool, thanks for that. :)

When I was jumping ahead of the clip to see the comparison, I must have wrongly mistaken the video of Megadeth for belonging to Korn (one of their videos had a similar aesthetic).

Anyway, to add to this video, Arch Enemy's intro to Nemesis is a fast-paced version of the one to Megadeth's Liar.

Also, Arch Enemy's intro to We Will Rise is a remake of the one for Anthrax's Only.

The main riff to Trivium's Anthem (We Are The Fire) is a swipe from Dio's We Rock.

  • sorry but vredesbyrd sounds nothing alike the arch enemy song... if thats a rip-off, so is "amon amarth - cry of the blackbirds" too, the part after the intro sounds pretty much alike the one of vredesbyrd, but is clearly played different. these are no ripp offs.

but though a good video, the other rip-offs were quite interesting

  • not bad, my band actually covered blind lol. best show ever, my drummer kept asking me "are you ready?"
