Both versions are great for different reasons. This version is very dark, tense and is a great accompaniment to an action scene. The dance version is great to dance to, and I love covering that version because it's just so groovy.

That sounds like the Boris Musical Mix, which was the version that got really popular in nightclubs that I mentioned in the description. It's also the version used in the music video with Rosin dancing around in a shiny flapper dress. I would say you're wrong on both claims, but I suppose there's no accounting for taste.
@Chimerathon I agree that this is not the original version. the original version had dramatic violins instead of drums. it was a very deep haunting song not meant to be as much as a dance version as the one here. I prefer the original version myself. I looked far and wide and i have not been able to find the true original version on youtube. I encourage everyone to get I Am Not a Doctor so they can experience the original. its a completely different experience.
@rebelwithoutapause25 this is not the remix, and if you truly appreciated it, the change of music, if done properly shouldn't affect the vocals or the vibe you get. You my friend, are the one who sucks. Next time take a pause before you try to spit knowledge, mr rebel.
I never heard the original song until Repo Men. This original track is vastly superior in every way. This is a perfect blend with the cinema-graphic nature of the final repo scene with Jude law and the girl submitting all of their parts.
So the first time I heard this song was 2-4 years ago in an ameture porno. Long story short I lost the dvd it was on and it has bugged me ever since cause I want to see it again (more a mental thing that a sexual thing {well maybe at first it was just sexual but now it atually fucking bugs me}). It seemed like two college kids and starts with a strip tease. The girl may or may not have had a tramp stamp. Fuck man now I'm gonna spend the next four hours looking for this SHIT!!
couldn't stand hearing the remixed version which got played over the radio over and over again when it was released. But this original version is frickin awesome :D
I FEEL: this is a Fantastic song, producing, engineering, ... any - even IF more suck Seth full - remix didnt touch ME as much as this version ... while producing TOBE (toub) in Berlin, listening to this album, I thought: "the guy who did this, knows where the hammer hangs" (.-) (literately translated german saying) ... also I use it's fantastic sound for calibrating soundsystems, working as a soundengineer for e.g. the Tiger Lillies... great song, super producing again!!!
Anyone reminded of Tekken 3? I mean like Nina's theme or just in general the way that the organ and the chords are put together? It's a massively good song and it especially compares to the time period.
MASSIVE HIT OR NOT, RIDICULOUS SONG! (GOOD I MEAN, DOUH!) THIS IS EXCELLENT, IM LOOKING FOR THE LYRICS RIGHT NOW, PROBABLY EVEN MORE MEMORABLE AFTER I READ THEM, PERSONALLY THIS IS AN AWESOME SONG,THE DISCO REMIX VIDEO TOO
Oh cool, so I wasn't crazy after all! I remembered listening to another version of the song, but I could never find it anywhere and it wasn't a remix nor anything.
This version is so much better than the one that became popular. This one is dripping with emotion; you can almost smell the smoke! The pop version was too disco.
At first I thought Repo man was crappy and they didn't explain the plot well enough... but I'm started to realize how intentional alot of the movie was... it reminds me of Blader Runner. It's an amazing story I just wish it could've have better production.
@sukuansnguan I don't, and they won't because it was based on a book which itself didn't have a sequel. And as much as I loved Repo Men, I hope they don't make a sequel because I have a gut-feeling it's probably going to be rubbish. A lot of sequels are these days, unfortunately.
repo man is a standard brutal action film. The ending and the music makes it special. The ending is very nice to think of: Would you want to live in this artificial "neuro-network" your happy the rest of your live but you don´t actually live. very interesting...
too predictable. i was thinking repo men was going to be a little different! its just like "the last samusrai" same story line different setting thats all.
Jake didnt indenture himself to the union for remys happiness! he did it for HIS OWN happiness. jake set remy up by nearly killing him becauee hes a sociopath who was willing to put aside everything in his path (remys family, remys wants and happiness and freedom) to get what he wanted. anyhoo, it was an awesome scene and sad twist but overall i felt the movie was severely lacking in story. like who the girl was, why the world was like that, what q was...etc
@hanzitatzi You can buy this off of iTunes on the Repo Men soundtrack. However, the full album I Am Not a Doctor (the album this song is in) isn't available in the U.S. version of iTunes. If you'd like the album, you could buy it off of eBay.
reminded me of the movie atonement, its twist was similar, lovers kept apart by a jealous little girl only to live out their lives in the pages of a book she writes later. the author of that book and jake, were convicted by their conscience. feelings of selfishness and guilt and tried to make it right so they could somehow live with what they had done. theres nothing touching about what jake caused or did. classic movie scene though.
many ppl talk shit about this movie ... but its one of the best i saw and my movie collection would make yours weap in the corner... touching , interesting, brave
i guess, the director failed, the film gives a feeling like "Johnny Mnemonic" from 1995 or I Robot, but without a restiance, and the heroic fight in the later parts of the story.
The ironical twist is cool, but, it is giving the viewer a sad/bad feeling finally.
A film, i'll never watch again, cause of the knowledge about the twist.
(btw. the fight scene at the end could be inspired by a glorious fight scene from OLDBOY)
The soundtrack is outstanding, and every track was well chosen.
@capzombie I hope for their sake it wasn't 'cos in the commentary they didn't even mention Oldboy and that's ALL I thought of when I saw that scene. Side-note: I think the hammer fight scene in Oldboy is my favorite fight scene.
I don't agree with the criticism of Repo Men's ending, personally. I found the twist to be almost touching. That Jake was willing to indenture himself to The Union so that his best friend could live out his life in happiness is heart warming in it's own way.
@Chimerathon The ending is stupid. Plaine and simple. And I'll even tell you why is stupid. The fact is that in theory is way cheaper to pay a few years for a heart, and then everyone would be happy, than paying for a dream an entire life... The way they chose to do it, it does not make any sense.
@PointlessX Then you never understood the film. Jake messing with the defilbirator unit to purposely stop Remys heart so he wouldn't move to sales and they could keep doing there job together. This obviously resulted in Jake having to cause Remy massive brain damage and therefore it was Jakes fault. So he pays the bill for Remys neaural net unit out of remorse and regret.
@Chimerathon I thought that the ending before the twist would have worked fine. It was a clever twist and everything but it's not what most people wanted to see.
@Chimerathon no my friend... he just wanted to keep doing what they were together just to have company... is it right to you, someone else to make choises for your life without even you wanting it and also without you realizing it (living in dream)???
@Chimerathon i liked that ending too, but i feel like it should have been the dvd's "alternate" ending and just make the island getaway the ending. But maybe that's too straight and narrow for everyone.
@kingdomofspades777 See when Russell Crow got killed in the Gladiator, the director said that they did the biggest mistake, by killing the main character. So I gues, REPO MEN | awaking, or "upgrade' cause he is kind of connected so... But anyway I found the film enjoy full. And looking forward....
@Chimerathon I think jake did it for his own consciousness. If it was me in remy's place i would prefer to die and not be placed in a false dream-like situation. besides, remy himself seems to reject this idea when jake tells him about it.
@mspyder Better than leaving him to die. At least Remy still gets to live out the rest of his life, believing he won. He'll never know he didn't, because he doesn't have to. If Jake was a truly shit friend, then he would have killed Remy. But he didn't.
I was really surprised I liked Repo Men, then the scene with this version of what was already a cool track just blew me away (even with Jude Law in it).
The Pink Door scene is also one of my fave scenes in the movie. Even though the ending was a shocker, I thought it was good anyway. Part of me was disappointed about the way it ended because I was rooting for Remy. But in reality, not all the good guys always win. It was a good plot twist even though it wasn't what we wanted. We are so used of the typical Hollywood ending where good guys always win. I guess they decided to do the opposite with this movie.
@sevenupyours23 Hell Fucking Yeah , I fell in love with this song and the scene of the movie that was included with this song in Repomen. The scene rewinds in my head over and over again lol
@sevenupyours23 A Perfect Circle "the outsider" was amazing to featured in the trailer remixed by Danny Lohner of NIN. Beck's Nasuea was also in the movie,... bad ass soundtrack
if you want to download this song type *i am not a doctor* in frostwire under album name and the track will come up as 07 sing it back this version is the same one in the repo men movie
"I Am Not a Doctor" is out-of-print worldwide. Echo Records is essentially out of business. Róisín Murphy has said publicly she never liked this version of the song, having written the lyrics intending it to be a dance track. It will be interesting to see what happens next, since EMI has disowned her and she has no record contract.

@Chimerathon i liked that ending too, but i feel like it should have been the dvd's "alternate" ending and just make the island getaway the ending. But maybe that's too straight and narrow for everyone.

@Chimerathon
I agree. And also remember the technician did say that the program was buggy. Could the happy thoughts ending make way for a Repo Men 2?
kingdomofspades777 1 year ago
@kingdomofspades777 See when Russell Crow got killed in the Gladiator, the director said that they did the biggest mistake, by killing the main character. So I gues, REPO MEN | awaking, or "upgrade' cause he is kind of connected so... But anyway I found the film enjoy full. And looking forward....

@Chimerathon no one could predict the ending, a twist no one would of seen

@Chimerathon I think jake did it for his own consciousness. If it was me in remy's place i would prefer to die and not be placed in a false dream-like situation. besides, remy himself seems to reject this idea when jake tells him about it.
Caracortada4 1 year ago
@Chimerathon maybe cuz he was the one to put thim in that situation in the first place.
mspyder 1 year ago
@mspyder Better than leaving him to die. At least Remy still gets to live out the rest of his life, believing he won. He'll never know he didn't, because he doesn't have to. If Jake was a truly shit friend, then he would have killed Remy. But he didn't.

@Chimerathon Why didn't he just pay for his heart to begin with then rather than let him live in a glitchy dream world?

JAYCZero 1 year ago
@sevenupyours23 A Perfect Circle "the outsider" was amazing to featured in the trailer remixed by Danny Lohner of NIN. Beck's Nasuea was also in the movie,... bad ass soundtrack

if you want to download this song type *i am not a doctor* in frostwire under album name and the track will come up as 07 sing it back this version is the same one in the repo men movie
killtatics 1 year ago
where can i download this version?? i can only find the dance version.
zxcDrAiNmnb 1 year ago
"I Am Not a Doctor" is out-of-print worldwide. Echo Records is essentially out of business. Róisín Murphy has said publicly she never liked this version of the song, having written the lyrics intending it to be a dance track. It will be interesting to see what happens next, since EMI has disowned her and she has no record contract.
