Your captions had me cracking up!! I did a competion like this...my horse had to pass an actual stuffed BEAR!! He didn't think twice about the bear but had a meltdown when he saw a STUMP on the other side of the trail! Your horse is gorgeous!
@0purple0oranges0 It occasionally takes a few moments for her to think things through and decide, "okay, I'll trust your judgment over mine, since she's known for being a bit of a diva. But when it comes down to it, she's got such a great mind, and really does try hard once you have her trust. I can't wait to see her in a few more years. I think she's going to be a GREAT horse!
totally agree she looks amazing! really good looking horse 2, i like her just from watching seems like she always trys to figure things out for herself first (smarty!)
Lovely try at the obstacles. I think you were riding without a bit. I hope you were also riding without spurs. For side-passing over an object may I suggest you position your horse so that the object will be just below your saddle or where you are sitting. That will allow plenty of room for her front and back legs. Good ride!
Thanks for the advice. The placement of our bodies always seems to give us problems on sidepassing over objects. I've been practicing quite a bit since that competition.
And yes, I was riding without a bit. I ride her in a rope halter, and no spurs at all. She listens very well to my body cues and as long as I'm clear and concise, she understands very well. I'm learning that she's quite sensitive to those cues, no matter how subtle. She's a great little mare. :)
GREAT JOB! You were quiet with her and obviously have done a great job training her. I loved how well she did that tall step up and down. Such a good girl! Are you going to enter for 2010?
Thanks. she's a great horse to work with. Our only problem is my nerves. If it wasn't for that, she'd have done even better. But overall, not bad for our first competition ever. :)
I plan on entering her again in 2010, if I can ever get some training time in before then.
@Ponykraze8 Sorry. My husband REALLY loves the little guy. He spoils him rotten. I don't think he would ever get rid of Rocky. He loves him very very much. Sorry.
I love your beautiful willing horse! You both did a great job! Few people realize how difficult this really this. The training that goes into preparing for these obstacles is similar to what we do in NATRC. If you enjoy *real* trail competition as well as arena-trail competition, check out the NATRC website. I think I live near you and we have a lot of great clinics and rides around here. Shoot me an email if you want more info.
Great job! I learning to do something like this hope i do good. :)

@101Jazzer She's a registered Paint horse, and at the 2009 competition, she was only 4 years old. Not bad for a youngin' :)
