I'm Asian, but in my culture we don't believe in selling our children, instead we're encourage to adopt one of our own, orphans(which is common) or unwanted children(which is rare). It's not only China who sells kids...it's very common in South East Asian countries like in Laos, China, Vietnam, Thai, Myanmar, etc. My cousin is actually Laotian...his parents were druggists, they didn't have enough money to buy crack so they sold him to my aunt.

There is a lot of adoption in the West, which is nice, but so many people try to adopt from countries like Russia because the kid will look white and possibly related (when the parents are white themselves). That's so sad when people treat not being able to pop out a kid as some kind of failure and that adopted children are like a last resort.

Also, the West until relatively recently did the same thing, and much of the trade was also race-based.

I just finished watching this on Channel 4 and I can't even find the words fit enough to describe just how terrible (understatement) this whole situation is.

It disgusts me how some of the traffickers talk about how they sold a girl or a little child with smiles on their faces and a glow in their eyes as if this is anything to be proud of. They are people not toys, poor kids.
