So like you say you can mix beats that sound the same but one is slower than the other. I was like how is this ever going to work, i dont get it, at least i didnt until you did that 4 count and now its like everything has some kind of 4 beat to it, amazing. I had never noticed that before, except a waltz maybe, can you mix dnb, hip hop and a waltz if you have another turntable?
Question here: Does it only work if you use the instrumental of the hip hop song? I mean I downloaded both songs but the hip hop song is full of lyrics and it sounds messy. In this video I only hear the instrumental of it.
I've been listening and both track are the same bpm's. But the "Drums & Bass" part only uses 32nd notes. The LL track used quarters/eighths/sixteenths. There's really no difference outside of the style of each track. I don't see anything awesome about that.
i agree. there was no creativity here what so ever. hes just taking 2 different artists and matching em up. no cuts, no variation, no chops. straight forward.
@prototype81 you clearly have no idea why he made this video... if you speak/read english, you can clearly see that all his videos are tutorials. what if i wanted to mix a drum n bass that i made with a hip hop track i made? well, here it is. make sense now?
@prototype81 P.S. you say music is universal in your info, yet judging from your "drum n bass sucks" comment, you have no concept or respect for any music than what you like. basically, youre a clown.
far by far i like ur tutorials better den other tutorials i always wondered how to mix hip-hop with drum and bass coz 1s faster than the other thanks for sharing
I also think it's easier to mix on the snare than on the bass kicks (for music in general).
In house music you're beatmatching squashy, bass sounds over a slower bpm, which presents more room for committing errors. With dnb you're usually following crisp snares on a faster beat which are easier to line up.
WOW you are a smart dude and a great DJ, thanks for sharing, i have been through a few of your vids and other peoples but i prefer your tutorials by miles you seem to have this great energy about you and you can tell you love what you do and sharing it with all of us, SO A BIG THANKYOU, hopefully i can afford some decks soon hahahaha
@burtonscatz Thanks man, all true tho, ellaskins shares so much, not many people so genuine who dont want the numbers from the plastic in your wallet.
i hate this guy cause he is fucking talk & talkin 2 much dat shit get on my nervs ! i just wanna watch sum fuckin dj vids. on youtube but nope tha whole time house music or talkin 2 much..or both of dat shiiit... ouh maine..
I've used this technique many times, actually my last track I made was a reggae hip hop infused with drum and bass. He's exactly right, hip hop is half the tempo of DnB. You can construct the song with a master tempo on 86 BPM (Cubase, Pro Tools, any popular sequencers) , make the hip hop beats with a 16beat timing, than construct the DnB beat with a 32 beat timing.
Funny that you would mention that, because I listen to drum & bass like I listen to hip hop. For some reason, it's more natural for me to to follow the 1 and 3.
I'm thinking about getting back into DJing and been checking your vids out, impressed:) I used to play bass or guitar in bands many moons ago, so musically minded, done some stuff with Reason/Fruityloops and also used to do a D&B DJ set about 9 years ago when I used to live in London back when... and I was into mixing D&B with ambient stuff. This sounds way better. This video rocks dude! RESPECT and thanks for your other useful vids:)
referring back to the race cars around the race track. The hip hop track is half the speed of the drum and bass track, therefore the drum and bass track will lap the hip hop track every beat.

But if your playing the drums and bass one twice as quick it will end a lot sooner than the slower one.
mervzila 1 month ago
@mervzila no you play them both at normal speed and they will both end roughly at the same time
