  • screw the music, Love the Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet in the backround!

  • hi mat, what pick ups are on your strat ?

  • Hi,

Despite the critics some people gave you, in my opinion you did a great job and you created the right atmosphere.

    Greetingzzz

    Rob

  • i can believe 17 people dislike this video.

  • are those EMG DG20's on a David Gilmour custom shop?? if so fuckin epic

  • I love your tone !

I'd recommend you to learn the next part of the intro, i find it more fun to play :)

(you can check my attempt on my youtube page:))

    Keep on rocking man !

  • What effects are using for this tone? help me!

  • sound is very good. 5*

  • GOod Attemp especially with a Relic Fender Stratocaster® Of Dave Gilmor .. kEep playing Gil'mour's songs buddy.. XD

  • Perfect !!!

  • BRAVO!

  • Great solo!

I see the helmet of Ayrton Senna's unfailing

  • Fluck Yea!

  • can some one put a video of how to play this solo plz

  • you got it but you play rather faster than necessary.try agian a bit slower

  • LOL! i absolutelly agree. Playing this song wit h a backing track is almost impossible.

  • no way man

  • wow... love your tone!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ya know what....your guitar looks ALOT like David Gilmour's favorite guitar.

  • hey man you totally kick ass. i just wish the great legend of syd barrett was also in the band as a 5 peice from 1965 - 1994

  • man dont say that he is a music genuis

  • yeah when i wrote that i didn't know alot things about syd. syd can be a genuis, but the PF of waters, gilmour, wright and manson was very better..

  • well he is a genuis

but still it depends on what style pf you like if you listen to syds its much more psycadelic david gilmour pf is more soulful

  • you and your mother sucks asses and dicks son of bitch

  • lol

  • you did a good job, i struggle to following a backing track aswell.

  • Practise timing, It's very important in this track

  • Yes of course, but you should know that LEAD guitar means that it's leading not being leaded by a backingtrack. That song is perfect when the other instruments follow the lead guitar and not the opposite as in this video. cheers.

  • @matboss72 dead right. You have no idea how hard it was to get my keyboard player to stop rushing the start of this track. things speed up live as it is without that shit going on lol

    Peace

  • @matboss72 your definition of "lead guitar" is completely wrong. Timing is important and all the instruments have to follow the time signature of the song. When I practice this song, I keep the metronome in the background because it's hard to keep up without the drum.

  • @matboss72 actually, while this may be true, the rest of the band is also following a time signature, and so is David

  • please give the tabs

  • can anyone give me sheet music for this cause i really suck at guitar

  • if you suck at guitar u shouldn't play this

  • i dont know why u say i shouldnt play this but i really like this song.

  • cuz if your just starting off it might be a little hard. I know ppl that couldn't even bend a note when they started.

  • Amazing....

  • lol nice stormrtrooper helmet

  • favorited

  • Very cool. Very nicely done. Sounds good with the delay.

  • niente male! i pickup sulla chitarra sono gli Emg DG20?

ps: ma è un casco delle truppe imperiali quello sulla libreria in alto a sinistra? XD

  • Very nice, good tone as well. I did the original version.

  • are those EMG's?

  • Where did you gett the tabs?

    Awesome guitar SKILLZ dude!!

  • awesome playing. how much did it cost for the guitar and neck replacement combine?

  • mate iws wonderin wat gear u usin cause iv got an me50 nd isnt that great coud u tell me wat i could get 2 sound like dave

  • How the fuck are you writing man?

  • sorry i was wondering wat ur equipment is that your using because i have a boss me50, fender standard strat and fender85 amp and im upgrading to a boss gt10

  • complimenti bel suono. do you have a black statocaster of david gilmor?

  • Yeah, originally it was an american deluxe strat. Then I changed the neck for a maple neck like David's and I replace the pickguard from white to black.

    Cheers

  • @matboss72 Hi Mat nice try and thanks for uploading. Getting the right bends and phrasing can be hard with David Gilmour much like Jeff Beck.

  • Oh ya! you have the sound down perfect.

    Really good job.

  • What pedals are you using? And what brand?

  • nice strat

  • Great solo! Also noticed the Senna helmet on the shelf. Excellent! We all miss him.

  • Great guitar, voice and effects. You are great

  • loving the black strat haha

  • your guitar sounds so good

  • great! :-)

got some tab for this solo?

    thanks

    donald

  • what effects and lead are you use on grageband

  • check out gilmourishDOTcom

in the garageband section you'll find the settings.

  • Spring reverb, chorus (Electric Mistress or Boss)and Delay is what I think I hear on this.

  • this song is from another world. this song is for the GODS of the universe. Gilmour is from another world planted here to teach us music

  • great solo, may i ask where you got ur guitar? i know there very rare

  • black strat is lovely :D

  • excellent/mükemmel...

  • Great stuff, love the tone. Check out my version of the second solo on my page

  • if i was gilmore, you would be playing with me

  • Wow !!!

Impressive....Try to do it a little bit slower...And it will be awesome !

    Pink Floyd Rules !!!!!!

  • Dude , your version of the solo have to be the best ! .

Love the tone, every thing sounds nice !

    Great job,

    !!!

  • OMG that is Friggin amazing, what are some tips for me as I'm just starting to play floyd and finding gilmore a bit tuff

  • No, they are Fender Lace Sensors pickups. I've learned to play his solos just watching him playing. A lot of practice dude... :-)

    Thanks

  • on of the better covers on here. Is the backing track from Gilmourish? Also whats your setup, effects, etc. Those emg's?

  • does emg make single coil sized pups, not downing ur comment, i really just dont know

  • Yes. go on the guitar center site. search DG-20 and also look at the EMG pups. I was goin to get them but I didnt feel like putting active pups in my strat, got a '57 strat instead.

  • Very Nice sound !!!!!!!!

    Good job, very very good.

If you like the deep purple or Iron Maiden... look my videos, bye!

  • great tone!

even ayrton would be proud :)

  • Yes man, you got it! :-)

    He's is still the best!

    Cheers

  • Nice tone.. but...

Timing is off, you need to cool out a little... listen to Rick part, there a hint for every chord change...

Also, turn down the compressor attack to almost nothing...

AND STAY AWAY FROM THAT VIBRATO BAR!!!... And start practicing that "raw emotional gilmourish" vibrato, +feeling -bar

  • Nice Mac. Great job.

  • good job

  • tasty!

  • de tout les solos de cette chanson c'est toi ki le jou le mieu

  • merci

  • Nice stormtrooper helmet on the shelf! Show us that!

  • good job man. it happens to be my favorite song and you did quite a good job

  • Haha, nice try with this. You hit all the right notes, just not exactly at the same time. I don't blame you, timing is a pain in the ass, but sounds great when you master it. Also, try not to rush afew places ( example : 0:33 ) just make that pause a TINY little bit longer. Eh. I know this song too well, I could tell you your other "corrections".

  • Thank you for the lesson... ;-)

  • wat effects are you using

  • Look below, there is the answer...

  • Just tell me one thing. How do you mute unwanted strings while bending? I'm trying to play this song and that's the most irritating problem that I have right now?

  • Unfortunately I have only one word for you: practice. :-)

  • I like your stormtrooper helmet :D Good playing, so rock on, rock hard!

  • Please let me know what set up you are using perfect tone perfect time and space what pick ups?

  • I'm just using the guitar plugged to a Mac with GarageBand software. The guitar is a Fender Strat Deluxe with Fender Lace Sensors. That's it. :-)

  • No amp?

  • No man, just Bose speakers...

  • lol bose are more pricey than the amps themselves, sweet fuckin guitar man the only fender ive ever liked

  • no bad lad.but i want to no patch

  • Nice job man...good sustain and reverb combination. Check out my vid of me playing...On The Run.

  • Great fingers....

  • good

  • very good, I like it

  • really awesome man, tht an incredible job

  • Is that a Star Wars Storm Trooper helment on the shelf in the back ground? By the way great solo. AK.

  • Yeah, you're right. I bought it years ago on a web site... It's pretty cool.

    Thanks.

  • Impressive!! Great job!!

  • Cool, is that a Senna helmet on the book shelf???

  • ottimo bravo

  • I agree with the guy above. Turn the attack down on your CS-3, or whatever it is you're using. Should be at about noon on the CS-3.

  • The tone 'bites' a bit too much. I also have to honestly say that I'm missing a bit of soul in what you're playing. Don't copy it, redo it.

  • I noticed that almost everyone that plays a Pink Floyd solo has to use a whammy bar to do Gilmours vibrato, even though he uses his fingers. But thats because Gilmour has a better vibrato than anyone

  • Gilmour variates on what he uses for vibrato. On heavier songs, your guitar's tone is often too sensitive to use your fingers to vibrato, which is when he uses the whammy. On softer songs, like this one, he uses his fingers.

  • I don't... I don't even have one. ash

  • Ok you win. Best playing and Best looking guitar. Looks like the guitar Gilmour used to record Comfortably Numb. Which was his old black strat out fitted with his custom pick ups and i think it was a '62 Strat neck. He quit using it for many years in favor of other guitars but more recently he picked it back up for Live8 and "On an Island"

  • There is a long story behind David's blackie. He bought it in a shop in NYC in 1970. Originally it was black with white pickguard and a rosewood neck. Over the years he changed a lot of stuff on that guitar. He changed the neck several times but now he has a '57 maple neck. It is great to see him again with the blackie!

  • Ya I knew he had neck changed and the pickups but I didnt know the exact year and the pickguard replacement.

  • fabulous effort. Been trying to do this for ages.

  • David Gilmour is my favorite guitarist of all time, and your sound is just like his. I can't praise a player much higher than that!

  • very impressive!

  • can i ask, is it a software which gives you the music effects without the guitar? if it is where can i get it?

  • It is a backing track without the guitar layer which is played by me.

  • I use GarageBand software, which comes with a Mac. I've made some adjustments and that's it. I have the Mac connected to my stereo with Bose sound system.

  • Wonderful guitar, wonderful tone, wonderful playing. Best one on here, besides the man himself. One slight thing, a little less delay, but apart from that, awesome

  • Thanks dude. For sure you're better then me but I'm not seeing your video...

  • nice dude

  • Wow... nice tone... nice feel... nailed those killer bends.. this is cool..

  • yeah, that's a Storm Stooper helmet bought on eBay several months ago.

  • wow.. that was fucking good..tell me, is that a star wars mask/head thing you got up there on the shelf?

  • You are my hero. Well, next to Messrs. Page, Gilmour, Satriani... I'm assuming you use a Mac?

  • good work man.. nice crisp sound....

ps, liken the storm trooper helmet in the background :)

  • Hello guy, it's just amazing :D Is this a Classic '50 Strat with EMG DG20? See you soon

    alex

  • No Alex,

that is a '91 American Deluxe Strat with Fender Lace Sensors pickups. I've recently changed the neck with a '57 Fender maple neck.

  • Which specific set of Lace Sensors are these? The silver or gold ones?

  • What R your settings? Are you using software effects from GarageBand?

    Please tell me

  • Yeah, actually I'm using Garageband settings. By the way, are you familiar with those? I mean, do you have any settings of other Gilmour's sounds?

  • So what are your settings? If you happen to have some free time later, do you mind sharing them? Damn good Job! Congrats

  • Settings are coming soon. Please, check out also www.gilmourish.com. It's a fantastic site where you can find everything about Gilmour's sounds. Bjorn, the author of that website, told me that in his new site (which is coming on September) he'll put also the Garageband settings. That's really cool, I can't wait for it! :-)

  • In a word? Perfect.

  • That was great. Well done.

  • Sounds Beautiful. Well done
