  • Wait, It's open source and THEREFORE not copyrighted? Copyright is the basis for all free software. Without copyright, free software wouldn't exist and there would be no GPL etc. Don't confuse it with patenting. Please.

  • If their current project 'Vista' is any representation of their code, i don't know if i want to see it.

  • too tell you the truth, microshit has no code worth showing, ive built professional 3d FPS games on linux and I bet half of the code im useing is used on windws

  • Because ppl don't have time for this. Not everybody likes your page, or want to advertise it. If Microsoft responses it want be chat or whatever, it's probably gonna be a well taught public announcement. And we see he doesen't even want to do that. Meh...

  • microsoft just claims linux copied code because they dont know that almost all operating systems except micorshit are based on the same source code

  • no but think about it, a company that needs to pay 77.000 people who in total cost more than 30 billion, who is going to pay it if they make there OS open source, okay windows 95 and DOS, that would'nt be a big deal but, vista XP 2000 and ME, surely not they are almost the same, just the point is it destroys the marketing

  • Microsoft has no code worth showing.

  • Yeah, it would be good if the patents law did require one side to point out the details of their claim, even without court sessions or even filing with the court.

But as it is, big business can buy patents on mouse clicking, wheels, doors , knives, forks, chopsticks, etc ., etc and then sue anyone they feel they might get a payout from that is "higher than costs ...

  • why would they want to give the code? its just like coca cola giving there recipt to the world.

  • Microsoft showing the code would be like Coca Cola giving their recipe.

The facts are that Coca Cola and Pepsi are basically the same drink and they do share the market and they don't go argue about recipe patents, they both believe their products are good. MS problem is that they fear the Open Source and it seems they don't trust their products can face the Open Source products.

  • it is not about asking microsoft to show their code, it is about getting microsoft to show/point to codes in linux that are infringing their patents.

  • Yea. They would never show the code of course... but they could point to the specific patents. That really was the whole purpose. "Just tell us what patents you are referring to?" And interestingly, that is exactly what they have started doing just after 5/1. Just check out Fortune magazine 5/28, page 77.

  • yep your right. Sorry, didn't get the memo. ;)

  • Lol, that was stupid. Microsoft are a corperate organization, they will NEVER release there source code, and theres no point trying to get it.

The reason you got all those digs is probably from people laughing, and the reason nobody showed up is because...well...it was a joke.

  • How about if Microsoft would show us WHICH LINUX CODE they claim is infringing. Linux code is already publicly available to anyone (not public domain though). Maybe the reason they got all those diggs was because people are offended by the brazen stink of FUD with no substance to back it up.

  • They were wanting Microsoft to show them Linux code. It got such a big response because Microsoft is being a jerk bully, and people were standing up to them. They're making idle threats to sue companies into oblivion (most of them don't have much money), and won't tell them what they did wrong. There are a lot of people like me who want Microsoft Corporation either stopped, stopped and severely punished, or even broken into a million pieces.

  • very very nice video!
