  • where did you buy the special clamp in the last part of video? Be carelyful man.

  • @kobsut - Gloves with Kevlar lining :-)

Just kidding of course... I wrote the program myself and tested it a few times before holding the disc with my hands. The rotating cutter is the least of your problems when something happens; the machine has more than enough power to crush my complete arm when it gets stuck so I never ever stick my arm in between two machine parts...

    drilling cut is waste time,,,

better use pressure and cut die,,,

    much better

  • @bestamerica - I know and I wish I had all the tools I wanted (laser cutter and engraving machines are still on my list) but I only have this CNC machine. Also the discs are just the prototypes, production is done at a water jet machine. And yet - they also jet-cut the small holes which is a waste of time and energy and does not give a very good result (not my decision since I am not the person paying for them ...)

  • soper

  • so what are you going to use an aluminum brake rotor for?? the ceramic coating will let it stand up to braking??

  • Yes, the ceramic coating is especially designed as a coating on aluminium for braking. The company who does this (Ceradure) specializes in aluminium discs with coating for motor bikes - if it is good enough for a motor bike, then it is definitely good enough for a bicycle.

  • what mill are you using ?? .. and meterial... ss?... pretty cook .. cant waiit to get a cnc mill .. I have a list that im making for biks lol.. didnt think of this b4 really though... thanks!

  • The machine is home-made (size: 77 x 40 x 14" table travel). Original build for milling foam and wood but it is rigid enough to mill aluminium.

The matarial is 2mm aluminium sheet, 6082-T651, T651 is stess relieved by streching making it perfect to mill large thin objects without bending.

  • Cool!!

  • that is a VERY nice machine!!!

  • nice
