I ate many koi before and they taste great deep fried with some tomato sauce. It wasn't a Japanese koi though, it's too pretty to eat.

Besides the food, the size of your pond is also important. Koi will grow big in a big pond.

There are some humongous black ones at the airport in honolulu. At least 40" . Also some weird orange fish with big lips. Anybody know what those are ?

The camera actually mask the real size of the Matsuba. Koi won't get much bigger than this one. Besides the length, she's rather fat as well. When we get her out of the pond soon, I will see if i can get a better picture of her.

Kois keep growing all their lives. As long as you keep it alive, it gets bigger.

I have seen one about 4 feet long and others in the same pond weren't far behind. It looked majestic swimming slowly. I forgot where it was but I think it was some kind of shrine in Japan.

The place must be famous for those kois, so some Japanese may know the name of place.
