This sounds better today than it sounded 20 years ago. It has many good elements of a really good pop song. Maybe my musical tastes have mellowed, or is it that compared to the trash that is being turned out now, this song sounds really well made.

I have this and agree with you. It sounds like Northern Soul crossed with Motown. I loved playing it and seeing evryone look for the phone that rings at the start. This was in the days before mobiles so ahead of its time.
