lol, no we never had freedom of speech! freedom of speech is limited.
I saw a guy being harassed by cops because he was holding a billboard up on the side of the street saying - "911 was an inside job", and had a web link.
freedom of speech is aloud as long as it doesn't interfere with the NWO.
The people can only protect themselves..when has the people of a country ever been on the protection list of the government of that country? i mean besides when it can benefit from it. actually never. btw..we never rlly had free speech in this country.
100% correct we have no freedom of speech we have no freedom period. we have no motherfucking rights thats the bullshit they feed you. coz they can take your rights away any time they want and they always take them wen you need it most. so its not rights its privileges. by definition if you have a right then no body has the right to take it from you wat so ever. so bottom line we aint free we aint got no rights. its all bs they feed you. welcome to america! ehehe bitch o ya fuck the law
dont be silly ofcourse there aint one. they dont give a fuck about people in here. there about money and power thats it. like i said earlier we got no rights just privileges
I LIVE IN DENVER! (Lo do district), and this is not a local thing. I smellConservative /Republicanism all over this sham...... Denver is a Democratic city........WTF?
What is going on in America. I thought it was supposed to be the Land of the Free but more and more I'm counting my blessings that I don't live there.
This is why we REALLY need to all start practicing civil disobedience -- not just posting and commenting on videos. However -- well done on THIS video. We need more "truth tellers" with cameras. Any American should be sickened by this.
This is another example of how our American "rights" are slowly shrinking and getting smaller and smaller. Our rights aren't even rights anymore, they're being taken away from us. Right aren't rights if they can be taken away; they're privileges. That's all we have now, a short list of temporary privileges.
It's no different than if you or I rented a public facility for a Birthday party and invited the general public. Then a bunch of losers showed up and started being rude. We, as renters of the facility have the right to ask bldg. Mgmnt to tell them to leave. If they did not, then they would be trespassers. McCain was being polite in only asking her to discard the sign. She didn't and refused to leave... she's a TRESPASSER!
So if I went to an Obama speech, (I say speech because he doesn't take questions) and waved a big sign... oh, hold on, this question has already been answered. OBAMA BANNED SIGNS AND BANNERS AT HIS SPEECH IN BERLIN?!?!? I won't bother getting into the rights of citizens who rent public facilities b/c you (JohnSandersonB) would probably not understand... you appear transfixed on the definition of "loser" and "rude." You don't understand the intersection of property rights and free speech.
Heh, I was just pointing out how those words show some sort of bias and make your argument look weaker. Don't get all smug on me bro ;) You clearly support McCain and I thought your argument was sounding good until you called them losers and rude. That's just childish, don't you think?
By the way, I'm not voting for Obama because he is just a liar/same ol' song and dance. I'm not voting for McCain either because he is also a huge liar. Just look at how many times their positions change.
The woman in this video is a "loser" and was being "rude". She is so because, among other things, she doesn't understand that civil public debate requires everyone to be respectful to other political views. The "in your face" attitude of going to the door of any candidate's town hall meeting and waiving a sign that equates the candidate to another unpopular figure is disrespectfull to everyone in attendance, regardless of whether the sign says McCain = Bush OR Obama = Carter!
Oh yer glad the Police stopped her before she upset more people and then tried starting a fight! Get real! Very brave to call an old lady a 'loser' as well. My grandfather fought in the British Army against the Nazi's, the sort of people you want to keep in power. Many American soldiers died in the name of freedom only to see your once great nation have its own freedoms diluted every day, and you are doing nothing about it. Goodbye America and goodluck! Peace!
The loser's side won. Rude, I agree with. We complain about how rude the Conservatives are and talk about how arrogant they are to try to tell us their side is right. The conservatives that think the IN YOUR FACE type of confrontational politics without any respect for the other person's views are the people we disdain for their rudeness. Us lowering ourselves to their level wasn't what won Barrack this election and was what lost it for them. Cooler heads prevail.
Why not? Thanks to your party that is where all our money is coming from. Since the Democrats won, I guess you'll be moving, since this is now going to be communist rule, right? That is what stands to reason by that thinking. Where are you planning to relocate now that you lost support? This country has been run by demogod facist/socialist capitalists, not true capitalists for eight years. You sound ridiculous to people who know anything about politics, economics, and sociology.
maybe if your loved ones are killed in the meaningless war started by the stupid republicans you'll smarten up and realize Obama is the obvious choice for president

YESbama 2009, learn to spell. I agree with you aout the legalities. Besides, being rude should be left to the conservatives. They are past masters at it.
I have always called to police on any woman I see over 60, they could be armed with an opinion I disagree with. And that scares the hell out of me. We ought to start raiding bingo halls and bridge clubs cause thats were they form there opinions and make signs expressing them. I bet there the ones stopping dehydrated babies from getting there hot water.
McCain is the man. Keeping old ladies down. A guy that flew jets on over Vietnam can't handle an old lady's opinion. Maybe the old lady reminds him of the old ladys he burned alive with napalm.
The other day Bush the chimp clown spoke how he's proud of america's freedom of speech...and here you see this ass kissing punk polices bullied and removed an old lady for such obvious simple thing....that sign should be sholved into the neo-con neo-nazi Bush McCain mouths.
Like Obama doesn't try to tailor his audience. He kicked a couple of Muslim women out his audience because, as a Muslim, Obama believes in the segragation of women. Plus, he suspected they were menstrating. This only reinforces what Hillary's supporters already knew--Obama's a misogynist.
wow, are you serious? That's got to be the supidest, least informed thing I've ever read. I mean, to disprove your little theory, all you have to do is just look at a picture of Obama at a speech! Grow a brain!
Sure he can tolerate black and white women(for now) for political reasons, but as far Muslim women of Arabic descent(like Barack), there's nothing doing.
Its beyond me why people are not taking to the streets! Has the Bush administration scared you all that much? Are you afraid to be arrested for practicing a freedom THOUSANDS HAVE DIED FOR? a FREEDOM that is GRANTED in the Constitution of the United States of America!!! A freedom NO MAN or administration has the right to block or restrict. A freedom WE ALL should be willing to die for, like so may be4 us have!
This should p!ss every single American off to the point WE ALL are in the streets!
It's my understanding McCain rented the area where he spoke (would be interesting to know what he paid) -- so he could restrict access to that area.
Now the area outside the room was financed with taxpayer dollars & if not rented she most likely had the right to hold the sign there under our Constitution.
But this is all part of the GOP's effort to restrict Free Speech.
I doubt Gore would've evicted someone who held a Gore = Clinton sign.
This is not a minor thing. This is an enormous issue in my mind. After speking to the camera, I sure wished she would have returned to the plaza and got taken to jail. It needs to be made a big issue. If freedom to redress our government, to assemble and peacefully and inoffensively speak our minds, is in any way abridged ON PUBLIC PROPERTY MIND YOU, then we are spitting in the faces our this great nation's founders.
what if the lady really loves bush and she is actually complementing mccain. Why are they trying to read her mind and conclude she is critisizing mccain?
Cenk, you should have picked up on the exchange with the Vet inside. That was much more interesting. McCain lied about his standing with vets organization about his votes on veterans issues. Plus he called Social Security a disgrace. Lots happened in Denver.
We no longer protect civil liberties, human rights, habeas corpus, nothing that founding fathers wanted us to protect, all because of 8 years of horrors that the Republican rule in America has been.
This really isn't a issue of freedom of speech. Just because something is open to the public doesn't mean that it has no rules and regulations. You can think the censorship is ridiculous, and it makes a great political ploy against McCain, but there's nothing unconstitutional about it.
And this Founding Fathers stuff just needs to stop. It's like the Hitler referece, not only is it used too much, it's used by people that generally don't know what they are talkig about.
Whatever rules they want. It's a John McCain event, so they can allow whomever they want at their events or not. This shit about martial law is just ridiculous. When people kick you out of your home for things you say, that's a violation of free speech. I'm not pro-McCain by any means, I'm far to the left of Obama, but this is a nothing issue, she was just trying to start shit and used as a prop because she's an old lady.
Though I agree with you, I found her comments kind of accurate. She said why would I be kicked out of an event for a sign that says McCain=Bush, when that's what the Republicans voted for with McCain.
protesting on public walkways is totally american. I support the right of people to protest peacefully even if they are protesting someone I support. The government is infringing on the right to peaceably assemble, on public property, to squash dissent. The secret service is, in this fuction, acting politically, and that should not be their function. Did she pose a security threat to McCain?
Please. She was only armed with a point of view, and that is every citizen's right.
Protesting on public walkways? They kicked her out of a sactioned political event. OF COURSE it's political. She can form her own protest group anywhere else she wants and have the total legal right to assemble. I am a card carrying member of the ACLU and I have no problem with this. Of course she has the right to have her own point of view, that doesn't mean she can express it whenever and wherever she wants.
So... umm.. we don't really have a right to express our opinions where-ever or when-ever we want???... how do we know when and where then??... is there a chart for these liberty and rights stuff... and how often is it changed??... who changes it??... who's holding the chart?... and why haven't we seen it?.... I never knew these things depended as long as no one is being harassed... and what? was McCain offended??... what exactly offended him anyways...
If you think what McCain did to the 1st amendment was bad, you should see the disregard they had for the 2nd amendment when they herded NRA members who came to hear John McCain speak at the Celebration Of American Values forum through metal detectors and disarmed them at the 2008 NRA National Convention in Louisville.
What's next in the Bill of Rights? The 3rd amendment? Is John McCain going to force private citizens to quarter US Army troops in their homes without their permission?
Actually, this does look like private property...a Denver Center for the Performing Arts.Malls, theaters, stores are not "public", they are private property. So,as stupid as this seems, they can remove people from these places. She should have stood outside on the street; public property, then we have a free speech issue.
I see this statement a lot "the founding father's must be rolling in their graves" but they were not as enligtened as people think. First of all, most were slave holders, second they denied the right of the poor to vote by having only those with property (essentially the poor could not vote). Women could not vote and came up with that awful electoral system. They are rolling with laughter!
We're constantly moving through a shifting moral zeitgeist, I agree, but the founders did have certain moral tendancies that would be considered 'liberal' back in their time.
As for slavery, I think Mr. Washington speaks for himself.
"I can only say that there is not a man living who wishes more sincerely than I do to see a plan adopted for the abolition of slavery."
Maybe if Washington would have dropped the rhetoric and freed his own slaves while President. For that matter Jefferson and George Mason (my alma mater) both spoke strong words but all three men were dependent upon the lifestyles that chattel slavery brought.
I'm not sure he would've gone very far as to convincing the fierce opposition to being anti-slavery, and I'm sure he wouldn't have done the things he was able to do were that to happen.
It's irrelevant anyway.
We are constantly moving in a shifting moral zeitgeist.
I'm for the lady, but she made a small error. She should have asked the officer if he saw here breach the peace, then offer no other information, ID, name anything, until an appropriate code violation response was given.
holy nazi's batman there is no freedom of speech in america anymore all hail hitler bush...so fuckin glad i don't live in communist russia...i mean america...ah they're getting to be one in the same
Like my parents used to tell me... "It's just the way it is" Mccain will be the next president, the media is adding subliminal messages to their shows...etc... it's all over but the announcment of the totals from diebold.
FREE SPEECH!FREEDOM TO ASSEMBLE! US CONSTITUTIoN! She should sue-Constitution will back her up. Since Bush, individual liberty has no value. MCCAIN=BUSH-Yeah, that says it! McCain made free speech a pile of crap EXACTLY like Bush has done! You go library lady!! Three cheers for Carol Krek! Where is the ACLU when you need'em??/
"why is that offensive?" she asks. This is something people need to pick up on. If bush is such a great president, why are republicans distancing themselves from him?
the answer is obvious, but getting them to actually say it is what needs to happen.
That is not even funny freedom of speech being denied right in front of us. Next they will be burning our books!!! Screw the Republicans and McCain!!!
That was a very VERY sad moment. Jesus Hussien Christ!!! It's not like she was burning an effigy of McCain dressed up as Hitler and/or trying to incite violence. She was just holding a gawdamn sign.
But kudos for the McCain camp!! Their personal slogan should be something like...McCain Camp: Destroying Presidential aspirations since 2000!!
Fuckin Nazi losers. The Republican party should just die and go away.
If other people see this sort of thing happening, they need to speak up on-scene and at the time. Watching it and decrying it on Youtube does nothing unfortunately (speaking to commenters, not Cenk).
its obvious, the freedom of speech is only for republicans, duh. if it were the other way around with a sign at an Obama rally... would they ask her to leave?
Umm, two Muslims were denied access to an Obama rally a month or so ago. They were racially/religiously profiled, surely that is as bad as this. Both situations are disgusting.
They weren't arrested, they were just asked to move out of the camera shot. It was still a despicable thing to do, but nowhere near as bad as arresting old ladies for no reason.
Strictly speaking the lady wasn't arrested either, she was ticketed and threatened to be arrested if she re-entered. Still bad, but let's be as accurate as possible.
Also, the place wasn't completely public property and the McCain people had rented the building.
Fair enough. Nonetheless she does now have to appear in court and could possibly end up having this on her record.
The property was not public and had been rented by McCain however you can hear the officer telling the woman it was public property and she was gonna get a ticket anyway, which may prove she was mislead by the officer. Also if she had received an invitation then her lawyers may be able to use that.
Either way I'm mainly criticizing the actions of the McCain campaign, not the cop.
I know one of the videos I saw about this mentions that they actually weren't on public property, here it is, I was referring to what she was saying at around 3:20 in to the video,
watch?v=sS2zxOYmDO8
I don't know if she is right or not, or what effect the building being partially publicly funded through tax dollars will mean for the court case.
Lot of speculation at this point, we are like Fox News contributers who come on to postulate about some shit they don't know about. Lol. Its fun.
Anyway I went to the web site shown at the end of this vid. Quite a lively debate. It appears that it is a public building but was rented out by private money and a rule of this town hall meeting was no signs.
For anyone.
Regardless of what the sign(s) said...
So this could be YET another example of the golden rule: He with the gold makes the rules.
And now Jim with the weather. How's that storm front looking over our constitution Jim?
Well Pwg357, it looks like piss is raining down in sheets all over the constitution this evening and theres no signs of it slowing down anytime soon.
As you can see from the screen behind me, Americas politicians are gathered in a huge crowd, relieving themselves all over our most sacred document with seemingly endless streams of urine.
Thats all for todays weather update, we'll see you after the break.
If I remember correctly Obama called those two ladies and apologized to them him self, did McCain do that for this woman. Not only that Obama I believe fired those two staffers.
They weren't barred access, they were moved from behind Obama's podium. I found that to be despicable, but at least they weren't ISSUED CITATIONS or threatened with being arrested.
Your reply makes no sense, unless you're characterizing the very act of those two women being there is a political statement in itself. They were denied access by Obama campaign volunteers, not by police officers. But, I do concur that both situations are disgusting.
If you watch the video the McCain aides are asking to police to remove the woman, it wasn't the police's instigation to remove her.
My original point wasn't that these two situations were identical, rather, that aides/volunteers do disgusting things on both sides and it isn't necessarily a reflection of the candidate himself. That's all. On that basis, I think my argument makes complete sense.
the juge took one look at that bogus ticket crumpled it up
and said case dismissed.

We no longer protect civil liberties, human rights, habeas corpus, nothing that founding fathers wanted us to protect, all because of 8 years of horrors that the Republican rule in America has been.
EsotericDesi 3 years ago 2
We as a nation are becoming a military state under republicans.
EsotericDesi 3 years ago 2
This really isn't a issue of freedom of speech. Just because something is open to the public doesn't mean that it has no rules and regulations. You can think the censorship is ridiculous, and it makes a great political ploy against McCain, but there's nothing unconstitutional about it.
And this Founding Fathers stuff just needs to stop. It's like the Hitler referece, not only is it used too much, it's used by people that generally don't know what they are talkig about.
mtf10 3 years ago
mtf10- what rules would you be talking about?
QueenOfTheMaggots 3 years ago
Whatever rules they want. It's a John McCain event, so they can allow whomever they want at their events or not. This shit about martial law is just ridiculous. When people kick you out of your home for things you say, that's a violation of free speech. I'm not pro-McCain by any means, I'm far to the left of Obama, but this is a nothing issue, she was just trying to start shit and used as a prop because she's an old lady.
mtf10 3 years ago
Though I agree with you, I found her comments kind of accurate. She said why would I be kicked out of an event for a sign that says McCain=Bush, when that's what the Republicans voted for with McCain.
ClassicArtsShowcaser 3 years ago 2
You are assuming. What's to say she wasn't supporting McCain (and Bush)?
Obviously she no longer supports McCain, but that is only evident after she was accused of "trespassing" on public property.
romanali1 3 years ago 4
protesting on public walkways is totally american.
GretchenDawntreader 3 years ago 6
Protesting on public walkways? They kicked her out of a sactioned political event. OF COURSE it's political. She can form her own protest group anywhere else she wants and have the total legal right to assemble. I am a card carrying member of the ACLU and I have no problem with this. Of course she has the right to have her own point of view, that doesn't mean she can express it whenever and wherever she wants.
mtf10 3 years ago
So... umm.. we don't really have a right to express our opinions where-ever or when-ever we want???... how do we know when and where then??... is there a chart for these liberty and rights stuff... and how often is it changed??... who changes it??... who's holding the chart?... and why haven't we seen it?.... I never knew these things depended as long as no one is being harassed... and what? was McCain offended??... what exactly offended him anyways...

Yeah, but she could have come to a Democratic assembly and protested the same way without purposely starting a scene.

This country has been a fascist rogue state for years. The founders must be rolling in their graves.
Rahab111222 3 years ago 5
I see this statement a lot "the founding father's must be rolling in their graves" but they were not as enligtened as people think. First of all, most were slave holders, second they denied the right of the poor to vote by having only those with property (essentially the poor could not vote). Women could not vote and came up with that awful electoral system. They are rolling with laughter!
flrbase1 3 years ago
We're constantly moving through a shifting moral zeitgeist, I agree, but the founders did have certain moral tendancies that would be considered 'liberal' back in their time.
As for slavery, I think Mr. Washington speaks for himself.
"I can only say that there is not a man living who wishes more sincerely than I do to see a plan adopted for the abolition of slavery."
-George Washington
Rahab111222 3 years ago
Maybe if Washington would have dropped the rhetoric and freed his own slaves while President. For that matter Jefferson and George Mason (my alma mater) both spoke strong words but all three men were dependent upon the lifestyles that chattel slavery brought.
flrbase1 3 years ago
I'm not sure he would've gone very far as to convincing the fierce opposition to being anti-slavery, and I'm sure he wouldn't have done the things he was able to do were that to happen.
It's irrelevant anyway.
We are constantly moving in a shifting moral zeitgeist.

Umm, two Muslims were denied access to an Obama rally a month or so ago. They were racially/religiously profiled, surely that is as bad as this. Both situations are disgusting.
MichaelMogg 3 years ago
They weren't arrested, they were just asked to move out of the camera shot. It was still a despicable thing to do, but nowhere near as bad as arresting old ladies for no reason.
ogjimkenobi 3 years ago
Strictly speaking the lady wasn't arrested either, she was ticketed and threatened to be arrested if she re-entered. Still bad, but let's be as accurate as possible.
Also, the place wasn't completely public property and the McCain people had rented the building.
MichaelMogg 3 years ago
Fair enough. Nonetheless she does now have to appear in court and could possibly end up having this on her record.
The property was not public and had been rented by McCain however you can hear the officer telling the woman it was public property and she was gonna get a ticket anyway, which may prove she was mislead by the officer. Also if she had received an invitation then her lawyers may be able to use that.
Either way I'm mainly criticizing the actions of the McCain campaign, not the cop.
ogjimkenobi 3 years ago 2
ojimkenobi
Wait now i'm confused. How do you and MichaelMogg know that it was private property?
Even if the building was private property that does'nt mean the sidewalk is. Was the sidewalk private property too?
i'd be willing to bet money (what little i have) that the sidewalk they were standing on throughout this exchange was paid for by someone's taxes.
pwg357 3 years ago
I know one of the videos I saw about this mentions that they actually weren't on public property, here it is, I was referring to what she was saying at around 3:20 in to the video,
watch?v=sS2zxOYmDO8
I don't know if she is right or not, or what effect the building being partially publicly funded through tax dollars will mean for the court case.
Lot of speculation at this point, we are like Fox News contributers who come on to postulate about some shit they don't know about. Lol. Its fun.
ogjimkenobi 3 years ago
"Fox New contributers" -ouch that smarts. Hahaha.

Not only that Obama I believe fired those two staffers.
haostrom 3 years ago
I believe Obama called and apologized to those two ladies for that incident. Did McCain call this lady and apologize to her.
haostrom 3 years ago
They weren't barred access, they were moved from behind Obama's podium. I found that to be despicable, but at least they weren't ISSUED CITATIONS or threatened with being arrested.
me213516 3 years ago
MichaelMogg:
Your reply makes no sense, unless you're characterizing the very act of those two women being there is a political statement in itself. They were denied access by Obama campaign volunteers, not by police officers. But, I do concur that both situations are disgusting.
dreamcrushed 3 years ago
HAHA, so many people fired up... good stuff.
MichaelMogg 3 years ago
You mean the two asked to move who were sitting behind him that he was unaware of at the time, or are you talking about another incident??
