In that case you should definitely consider checking out power metal, progressive, symphonic metal, folk metal and other similar subgenres. I personally prefer clean vocals over growling and screaming, and by just digging a bit you can find plenty of great stuff that incorporates this.

It's really two extremes when it comes to the rock genre, so that's why there is so much hate of screamo by technical death metal fans, because they think that it is sissy and whining, and that the music is too simple and too geared towards 13-year old girls, and that the guys look gay.
