Oh nevermind my last comment - I just realised agreggofsociety probably well knows this guys and was only having a little fun in his descriptor. ;) :p
agreggofsociety - As others have touched on, The song 'Throw your arms around me' that Crowded House are performing with the choir, is a 'cover' of a classic tune in Australia, written and performed by the band, 'Hunters and Collectors.' Search them on Youtube to their ORIGINAL version of it. ;)
Nice tribute from the Crowded House boys. Nice that Vedder from Pearl Jam and others cover it too. Vedder even performed the tune with Hunters and Collectors lead singer, 'MARK SEYMOUR.'
A beautiful song that means so much to all Australians a song that is never learnt Australian kids seem to be born with the tune. So nice to share it with the world
Neil Finn has always been so generous with his own music. And in this case generous with someone else's music (even though the author's brother is in Crowded House!). What this clip shows is the generosity that Neil and the band has in sharing music in general. Lastly and by no means leastly, how about the Choir? What an exceptionally talented collection of youngsters! I know that the guys from CH were simply blown away - as was everyone that saw the performance! Congratulations!
This is one of my all-time favorite songs!! I love what you do with and for these kids. I love that you're bringing the music to them, on their level, and allowing them to feel and create. The radiant beam you display as you hear them is the testament to the beauty they've brought into YOUR life as well! Nothing is more rewarding to us educators than when our little birds fly from the nest and turn cartwheels in their sky.
AND I love that you're giving this to us on YouTube...
yea as porky said hunters were the first to perform it. Nick wrote it and sings it with such passion its amazing.. i dont think i have ever heard a split enz cover of it but i now the crowdies do an amazing version of it.. keep up the good work.. im seeing the crowdies tomorrow night in conert
Gregg, just happened across your videos of you and the kids with Crowded House. The videos and the kids are amazing. Thanks so much for sharing! Keep up the good work.
Amazing...is all I can say. I wish I was there. I hope when I come to NY I can see you guys perform...I think I would enjoy seeing the choir before seeing Spamalot (or another one of my favorite musicals).
Just love this song so much! Cool to see the kids so into it, like they've known it all their lives! Awesome!

Nick as in Nick Seymour? I thought his brother Mark from H&C wrote this or have I got it wrong all these years?
