I have to wonder if you could simply build a big, thick, mound of dirt around the bomb. When it goes off, the mound takes the impact instead of people and buildings. Of course you would probably need a bulldozer and enough time to build it.
y didn't they just strap the bomb to a few separate cars using rope, then use them to pull it out of the ground, then out of camp, then let it detonate outside?
if it didn't blow up from hitting the ground with what I assume to be several hundred pounds worth of force, I don't think that pulling it out would activate it (I didn't even know that they put something like that into them)
Both sides were known for using bombs that weren't intended to go off on impact. Some were deliberately designed to go off later when the bomb disposal experts were attempting to defuse it. To this day they routinely find bombs that didn't go off on impact, and they're handled with kid gloves for a reason; it doesn't take much sometimes to set off the accelerometers on a so called, "dud".
There is one thing I've learned about bombs: never assume anything! If you do act on assumption, it may well be the last thing you do. Ask those who has been removing old remains of WW2 bombs these last 60 years...

I love it when Hogan looses his composure- "You mean I've been fooling around with a live bomb!" His expression is priceless, lol.

For the simple reason that pulling a bomb out of the ground would probably set off the detonator.
