  • @TennisAnnalyst

thats why roddick is god aweful at net

  • my favorite players are, 1) Juan Martin Del Potro, 2) Jo Willy Tsonga, 3) Gael Monfils, 4) Nadal, 5) soderling\murray\gasquet

  • @TennisAnnalyst well in that case we are off the same opinion, i´m a big federer fan myself :)

  • the grass bounce very high, i guess this is 2008.

  • @TennisAnnalyst i only said, that federer had a streak about 23 semi-finals :) and that this 17, what is quite unbelievable, is nothing compared to what he was going to achieve in the near future :)

  • oh wow 17 ^^ what about 23 :D

  • The idea that anyone thought this guy could beat Roger is fucking laughable

  • @SuperBajack

you mean like he did in the second or first round in 2002?

  • @thegreatNEb Yes, because Rog was *clearly* at the same level in 2002 as he was in 2008.

I suppose you also think Alex Corretja would have been able to beat him on clay around the same time?

  • @SuperBajack

well probably yes...he just didn't have his head screwed on properly yet ;-)

  • look at the grass it it still kind of healthy at wimbledon these day it a clay tourney by round 3

  • All i like is the intro.

  • Poor Ancic...!!

  • Mario Ancic, 2002. Rafael Nadal, 2008. And now, Tomas Berdych, 2010. Congratulations to all of them!

  • Sorry Mario, do you mind if we don't shake hands, I don't want to get mono again :/

  • ancic is better

  • ancic takes too much time to set up his forehand.

  • does anyone know where i can get the whistling tone

  • 5.20: "new concept"? "two big heavyweights in men's game, big hitters staying on the baseline", "rather amazing this change has taken place"??

if the balls wouldn't have been made as heavy and the courts not as slow, these two players would have chosen the more efficient ways of serve-volley in the 1990's. But they can't due to circumstances, so they adapted.

  • @tiesthijsthejs Hmm, who has more credentials, John McEnroe, winner of 7 Grand Slams, or a random on Youtube? Serve and volleying isn't more efficient. It was just a better play when topspin was not as easily created as it is now, so passing shots and making your opponent hit a tough volley were a lot tougher to do back then since there wasn't much on the ball to bring it down.

  • true, agreed, that's also what I meant with efficient; adaptation contextually speaking

  • does anyone know the music at the beginning, its sounds pretty cool!

  • Young Folks

  • yea its mad addicting

  • I love roger federer, but doesn't 4:39 look like an out?..

  • the ball probably just barely caught the outside of the line :-)

  • whats the first song played called?

  • Peter, Bjorn & John - Young Folks

  • Beautiful video, thank you!

  • The grasscourt on Wimbledon indeed slowed down but come on folks! It STILL IS a very fast surface. The court should be fast enough to give Federer the advantage against any other player, theoretically speaken, including Nadal.

  • No, it isn't so fast... aussie and us open are faster than wimbledon...

  • Us open ok, not so sure about Australian Open though. But yeah, Wimbledon's speed has quite diminished.

  • The grass really has gotten a lot slower at Wimbledon, most people I've seen write/talk about it say that it's slower than the surfaces used at both the US and Aussie Opens now. Grass used to be by far the fastest surface, the fact that they're even comparable now is a bit sad. Perhaps the surface still favors Federer, but not as much as it used to. The guy was absolutely dominant on it until it slowed down. His all-around game that included a net game better than most made him invincible.

  • dont be jealous.

  • hey do u reckon u culd upload a highlights vid of the lopez safin match???

    anyone?

  • @Ancic: My advice is that you should ask him to be ur coach

  • one of the funniest comment ever about tennis lol

  • What's the song called in the beginning?

  • Peter, Bjorn & John - Young Folks

  • Haha, love the Ancic comment (:

  • the short clip before the video is awesome...

  • ohhh my godness the grass is slower than the most hard courts now....

  • they slowed it down on the grounds of benfitting the clay courters which i think is bull because grass is grass not clay each surface is meant to be differant also they have slowed nearly all courts down now only the us open and basil are fast propper courts now.

  • nadal is good on slow courts but the faster courts he isnt so great and betime the atp reach the us open nadal is burnt out and roger kicks in as does others

  • ROFL. Just another idiot Nadal fan who thinks they actually know something about tennis. Nadal would have never won Wimbledon if they hadn't slowed the courts down. The ball bounces so much lower on the old grass that his ridiculous top-spin wouldn't have much of an effect. Nadal for a calendar slam, huh? Yeah... first off he's never going to win the U.S. Open because he always gets worn out by that point in the season and he's not even going to win the French this year. HAHAHAHAHAH idiot.

  • totally agree, the way Nadal tries to wear out his opponent every time, that's just not going to cut it at a previous Wimbledon court, and Federer would definitely have 6 Wimbledon titles by now!

  • you're right. It's ridiculous to watch Nadal make the bounce high just like on clay court. There should be a variety of court's types, and I mean there's should be clear different! If there can't be clear different, then all players should better come back to play on grass only like the old time!!!

  • you are so right, i feel like Wimbledon lose it unique if they slow the court down, nadal is just lucky they slow the court down for him or else he will never win Wimbledon, if you can be good on grass because of your game, then deal with it, dont change the surface, im sorry

  • everyone listen to mcenroe from 5.27 - 5.36

im glad tennis legends also notice these changes

  • best quality i have ever seen on youtube!

  • Winning it on a second serve ace is only appropriate. What a beatdown.

  • Roger played a great tennis in wimbledon 2008!

  • excellen intro

  • I was at this match and the first set by federer was nigh on perfection.

  • first set in the US open semi was better; like 2006 federer

  • brilliant, great quality,

  • Nadal is an outstanding player, but I do not think anyone can reach his accomplishments.

  • there will always be another better player than roger, in every 50 years or so. People said it about Laver, then borg, then Sampras

  • true... more people are playing tennis every year

It's a matter of probability that tennis will continue to get stronger as more and more champions emerge from the woodwork.

  • as good as federer maybe, better than him, doubt it, his talent is absurd..

  • I agree. What he did from 2004 - 2007 was not human.

  • Even if he doesn't win Rolland Garros, I would still put Federer above Sampras and Laver because he has made 1 semi and 3 finals at RG unlike Sampras who only had 1 random semifinal and the Grand Slams during Laver's time were only played on grass and clay, no hardcourts. Don't get me wrong though, both Sampras and Laver were phenomenal players.

  • well good news is he now has RG to complete his resume, but I agree 1 semi and 3 finals at RG is insane.

  • I think Rog should try to hit more big second serve. He's completely able to do it.

  • @mystikr Dude, but.. his second serve is already ridiculous enough O.o.

  • @mystikr he did in the us open final 2009. and lost.

  • yes, matchpoint and ace on the second serve...

  • Roger should not lost this tournament.

  • @lgfoxxxw I can't believe 22 people thumbed up this poor showing of English.

  • @DanimalLawlz Don't fret about it. It's the idea that counts, after all... not all of us have time to double-check our comments, believe it or not.

  • @PenaltyKillah Even that guy wasn't a retard verging on illiteracy, why should Roger have won the tournament? Nadal outplayed him in the final set, and Roger was fortunate that he saved the championship point in the third set to push it to five. It's an all around stupid statement.

  • @DanimalLawlz fortunate my ass. fortunate is when he hit that shot desperately with his left hand and it touches the net and bounces over Nadal's reach.

  • @DanimalLawlz

A.A.A.A.A!!!!! He did not save championship point in the third set. It was in the fourth!!!

  • finally someone put this match up! The first set was astoundingly good...

  • Haha they used Young Folks by Peter, Bjorn and John :D Reminds me of the movie 21.
