the USCG is a branch of the military and a law enforcement agency. the Canadian CG is a civilian organization they have no military or law enforcement roles. other than that they both do pretty much the same thing; SAR, aids to nav, ice breaking etc. before 9/11 they didnt do armed escorts that much and those are m60 on it, not 50cals. im sure they spend a lot of time cleaning them after that though
Yeah - i guess that i don't know what the F** this Coast Guard is doing. I lived on the water since i was 2 years old - right in the marina. I've NEVER seen a Canadian Coast Guard with a big FRIGG'N GUN on the bow. See how fast salt water takes care of these F** N morons. 2 more for Davie Jones. Goood bye.... la, la, la la hey hey, goooooood bye. You boys got BUSHWAKED - in the head.

These dudes are looking a lot more like pirates than peace keepers. Leave the guns to the military - and stop removing my comments - you coward.

I don't recall recalling 50cals to be sea worthy...I wonder what they use to process the metal so it won't corrode from the salt.

first of all they are there for command presence and second they are there if someone decides to smuggle in weapons or perhaps for pirates??

@Collon7 You know nothing of either the USCG or the Canadian Coast Guard. Not your fault I guess. Most people don't either.
