The Boys on the left of camera do not seem to be aware that they are supposed to be standing to attention. The BB in Glasgow is not the organisation that it was. Sir William Smith built it on the "twin pillars" of Discipline and the Christian Faith. Discipline, built through drill is ignored by many of the new officers. Modernising the uniform is quite acceptable as long as the basics are not ignored, like headress. A return to the basics is required.
I am a young BB officer. have been in the brigade for the last 13 - 14 years as a boy and now as i say an officer. these changes were made to modernise the brigade. yes i agree that the old uniform looked smarter but the days are gone where children want to go home and take pride in their uniform as i did. I love the old uniform more than the next person but in order to modernise the brigade we need to make modern our methods and our dress standards...yes welcome to the 21st century
i am inclined to agree with you, i have now been in the BB for almost 12 years and the organisation seems to have gone downhill. I was having a conversation with the my battalions senior drill instructior who has been involved with the BB for 62 years and he said - and i quote - 'the uniform and discipline has changed for the worse in my opinion since the abolition of national service in the 50s' so there you have it... it enrages me that such a traditional organisation has gone to pot... :(
i agree as when i was in the BB the uniform used to look smart for example the day that i got promoted to lance corporal meant that i got to sew a stripe onto my uniform and it made me feel proud like i had gained something , but now the badges are very small to show rank

It is a shame to watch the CLIP. It seems No Pride of the Uniform & Pride of the Company one represents.
