Beautiful! We used to live in Long Beach and enjoyed the Kite Festival every year. People from all over the world are on the beach and it is a wonderful time. Many talented and friendly people, shops and art galleries in the town, and delicious food. The scenery is spectacular. Then, Astoria, Oregon is just a short drive away and that's another beautiful place to visit. It's a great family vacation and I highly recommend going at least once--but I bet you'll be back again! :-)

Oh wow this brings me back. I remember walking down the strip there in Long Beach and turning by the go-carts and under the arch and coming out through the crowd to see those truck-kites.

Incredible video and I remembered almost everything from it - especially the old man with the triples. I never say this but thank you for posting.

I see you are a novice in kiting.I know how you feel.Very frustrating to have these crashes.Read the book "How to fly a kite". Also make sure your kite is balance.This is #1reason kites crash.Once your kite is flying high you will see what I mean.Once you master kiting join dog fights.This is where the excitement is.Remember when you were a baby?Before you learn to walk you fell/stamble down a lot.But when you learn to walk you were up and running.Keep on trying.

Yep, those are the ones. They look big, but then my depth perception could be way off. I just love kites with very long flowing streamers.

I think those are from the 'Octopus' series by peterlynnkites from New Zealand. All hand made and in several different sizes from 4m long up to absolutely huge, and not cheap! ;-) check out peterlynnkites
