  • Griffin Communications owns both KOTV and KWTV, so that's why the 6 and the 9 look familiar.

  • Jim Giles R.I.P.

  • Remember those anchors. Liked Beth and Jim. Clayton is another thing...

  • This is classic, I so miss Jim Giles, when was this? I am going to say early 90's?

  • @dcmdfw April 1991: Opening Day in baseball, the year, and the graphics in the first few seconds are from 1990-91 on CBS, not 1991-92.

  • haha Jim Giles! I remember him!

  • some viewers of this video will recognize KOTV anchor Clayton Vaughn, as the person responsible for the firing of fellow (competitor, and heir-apparent) anchor, the late Robert Joffe. Vaughn started a rumor about Joffe, in order to damage his career. Vaughn is responsible for KOTV firing Robert Joffe. Shortly after his firing, despondent and beaten, with his promising career ruined, Robert Joffe commited suicide. Robert Joffe's widow sued KOTV, and Clayton Vaughn sinning a 4 million $ award.

  • 91% approval rating. what did his son have??

  • Takes so much work to work that map, huh, Jim? Pretty good Traveler's Forecast.

  • Yeah I thought I recognized that set from somewhere...

  • im shocked ive never seen any of this till last night

  • Wow, the logo & the set look different back then.

  • Tulsa and KOTV are not the same without Jim Giles, RIP.

  • The music package was also used by KGO-SF.

  • It's the Signature theme by Stephen Arnold Music. KGO used it from 2000-2006 before they used Eyewitness News.

  • And it was also use for WNDU in South Bend from late 1993 to early 2005.

  • I forgot to add that WWMT-tv in Kalamazoo use to use this Signature Theme as well from the mid 1990's to 2007 when on that year of 2007 use CBS enforcer.

  • What a cool graphics package! Goes perfectly with Signature as well.

  • Pure Classic

  • Heh, that 6 looks like a certain 9 turned upside down...conicidence? lol

  • Not really. If you are referring to the fact that KWTV uses that same graphic, they didn't start using that until the late 80's. KOTV was using that 6 graphic since the early 80's. I'm surprised no one has mentioned John Anderson (now at ESPN) filling in on sports.

  • From the look of things, it appears like KWTV copied that logo to an extent AND copied the red/white/blue color scheme that was introduced in late 1995...

    Think about it...lol
