  • Clutchless downshifting works well if your bike has a slipper clutch. I wouldn't be doing that into a corner on my road bike.

  • Crazy. We truck drivers discovered this 40 years ago. It's called floating. Good morning.

  • @dumbenoughou812 With sequential gearboxes?

  • @Weaseltube You have a point, bikes have nothing but a semi-auto trans. As far as a semi truck, there's actually a bit more skill involved. Look up floating big rigs on here. Basically you want to simletaneously pull off the throttle and pull the shifter out of gear at the right rpm, let the rpm drop to the right amount, then it slips right into gear, unless you're d/s, then pump the throttle to desired rpm and it'll slip into gear. Look up twin-spline transmissions.

  • @dumbenoughou812 Yeah yeah, I do that in my car and I'm not even a superhero trucker with a twin-spline transmission like you are.

Anyways, there's no part of a bike transmission that's automatic, they just don't have N between each gear like cars and trucks do, which is what makes the whole clutchless downshift such a technical challenge.

  • You use the weight of your foot and then when the bike is at that rev range apply a bit more pressure, am I right?

Clutchless up shifting is easy enough to do if your quick, dip the throttle flick up (no clutch), same with next gear.

  • @AZZ3R1 It can be done at any RPM. Just apply light downward pressure on the shift lever and --VERY-- lightly open the throttle to match engine to wheel speed and the lever should just slide smoothly into the lower gear.

  • @movistargsx as a matter of fact, when i ride my bike, and recall it correctly for down shifting without the clutch, you have to put a bit of pressure on the shifting lever, and release the throttle slowly, feel the next gear slide in smoothly and enjoy having shifted down without the clutch. if you do it while opening throttle you should'n even be able to do that... and concerning it being bad for the transmission... nope its not. if anything it relieves your clutch.

  • @unclebenz86 I think you're mistaking your upshifts with your downshifts. You close the throttle to upshift, and you open it to downshift. Try it next time you're on your bike.

  • @didierrL01, Shift up/down Clutchless, 50 ton Semi's do.

W/O sledgehammer on the shifter, Only LIGHT pre-load on shifter either direction.

Shifting CANNOT be forced w/o modifying the throttle to match a light to NO-LOAD condition.

This is not power-shifting. P/S is WOT w/clutch, forcing clutch beyond grip.

Gears are not forced to mesh Clutchless, only side dogs on gear.

Drum shifters simply move forks left & right to make dogs intercept.

    Explore any parts manual.

  • @didierrL01

    Because idiots are clueless.

Up or Down, what the hell is the difference, Nothing but the RPM

  • thats what they call it powershifts. u can shift up and down ur bike with no clutchless and no shift assist by poweshiftin whitch's u let the gas go and shift but shiftin up with power shifting would destroy ur gearbox and its not smooth and would lose time for doin it, shiftin down never hurt ur gearbox and thats why they came up shift-assistant. and i have been doin power shiftin for long time '5 years' in my gsxr and never have proplem maybe because i am very carefull with it.!! ;)

  • @faisaladh

Trying to figure out where you got this idea - Your Quote"but shiftin up with power shifting would destroy ur gearbox.

Go look at mine and Discover Smooth Clutchless full power.

  • WOW my auto car does it to....................

  • @Buzz50Rider - That is a common misconception. The guy in this video is a mechanic for a fleet of over thirty motorcycles that are used on the track exclusively. He wouldn't be doing it if he thought it was bad for the bike.

  • my personal view on clutchless down shifts are its not good for the gear box because of the strain on it going down the box.....not good for the bike as far as im concerned

  • What RPM are you sitting on when shifting down?

  • isnt the shift-assistant only meant for upshifting?

  • @noobexperte - Yes shift assist is only for upshifts. This video was to show that you can do clutchless downshifts and be smooth. You can do it on any bike.

  • @StumanWSMC ah ok thanks.

  • @StumanWSMC on the s1k2r u have to be carefull of clutchless downshifts from 2nd to 1st if you have the QS, all the others are no problem

  • @StumanWSMC

I have no idea where so many idiots make false claims of shifting.

Just as you said, all bikes can.

They tried to tell me 800lb cruisers could not clutch-less shift, so of course I made a video.

    Cheers & Nice Ride

  • @Philscbx i herd that sum of the newer bikes with computer shift like the push button or twin clutch honda dont like it but that was because the computer was out to get you....

  • I have the strange urge to buy alpinestars gloves...

  • Why he doesn't use the clutch ??

  • @FAZER6N they are showing it cause it is a feature on the bike

  • I just posted another video showing the brake/throttle side...

  • @StumanWSMC Nice riding! But how you can't touch the clutch?

    Thanks

  • Thanks for showing that clutchless downshifting works fine on a motorcycle, even at racing speeds.

    PS

I LOVE this angle. It lets the viewer see what you are doing with the controls. Will you do any showing front brake and throttle. Of course, the over the shoulder stuff is fun too. Just post more!

  • Nice, very smooth!

  • Nice upload and thanks for all your advice on the CSS forum!
