Got my knock off D45 from China "DHGate Allguitar" just because I was curious as to what they were like. At first look it could pass for a real Martin but when you look closely you can find imperfections that give it away. In correspondents with the seller of the guitar before I bought it I was told that it was made from solid rosewood back and sides but to my eyes it is laminate/plywood. the top is what looks like solid spruce. Sounds good for what it is. Cheap guitar.
Funny, I have a friend who is into guitars in a big way and is a brilliant guitarest. well I got him to try out my D45 not telling him it was a knock off. He thought it was brilliant and raved on that Martin guitars could not be surpased and you get what you pay for. I asked would he give me £500.00 for it and he said he would give me £2500.00. He nearly had a fit when I told him where it came from!!!
Yes mine has a serial number and it indicates that it was made in 1945 looks pretty good for that age of a guitar.............. funny it smells new!!!!
just to finsih my point(FORGIVE ME GUYS BUT I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS)the only thing i see from these chinese guitars is minor set ups out of the box and maybe some hardware change the reason these thing are getting so popular is pruduction cost and labor in the far east it is CLEARLY cheaper thats all the god damm woods are the same hell Gibson IMPORTS most of there woods AND there hardware ALL Gibson HARDWARE is made there as well THEN packaged here.
the boys in china are STICKING it too the US companys...its only fair the way i see it companys like Gibson and Martin have been sticking it too consumers for 40 plus years and last i checked whats on the headstock should not matter....i have played so many guitars in my life and can truely only pick out 2-3 of the big boys that stand out in my mind....3000.00 plus for a piece of wood in this ecnomoy is just an insult...
@TheXXXDB try 10K plus for a D45, and whats the state of the economy have anything to do with ripping off American companies and workers? You wana bitch about the state of the economy while enjoying American workers at Martin losing good paying jobs to a Chinese knock off made by workers who make peanuts? really?
@CE750 yes really,I dont give a fuck what the headstock saids...and you cant justify the 10K pal,i have been playing since before you were born and know the business as well as anybody else...and buying something from china(who bye the way is makeing a product as good as anybody) isnt takeing money out of the workers in nashille ect...the AMERICAN goverment and there trade policys ect are doing that on there own not too mention the companys themsleves, have a great day and KEEP BYE AMERICAN CRAP
@TheXXXDB you're moral values are based selfishness then, right? Nobody would give a shit if that guitar was made in China and was every bit as good as a Martin but had CHING CHONG on the headstock; its the fact that it has CFM and is a totally pirated copy that pisses people off. I CAN afford a D45, and I'm proud to own a real one, made by US workers in the US, in a safe work place. I can't fault someone buying a Chinese product, just don't defend illegal pirating of the brand.
@CE750 you can afford one???..well come too my house pal....i got about 40 odd guitars in the house ...so much for your "i can afford one" comment....do everyone a favor get in your car and drive on the wrong side of the road...and get a life and stp argueing about mindless things like a piece of fuckin wood...grow up all ready and learn too play...have a greta new year ....ASSWIPE....
@TheXXXDB you've got some serious anger issues, life treat you unfairly or you just think you deserved more? Who cares what you have, you still are too cheap to buy a real Martin D45 and that's what we're talking about here. I'm not here to compare my toys with a zit faced angry teenager, I'm here to defend a great company's name form the goddam chicoms and cheap shits like you who can't afford them and whine about it to everyone. Welcome to my block list btw..
@TheXXXDB whats more, it's not your God given right to own a D45, that is a high end luxury guitar. If you think that's too much to spend on the hard work of skill workers, then you can buy one of Martins low end 500.00 guitars thats at least made here in the USA
@CE750 yup. I have a D16GT I payed 1100 for. I cant justify spending 3 grand cuz im not that rich! the lower end martins arent that bad, and even this made in china version dosent seem to bad either :D
@cowtippingrocks my first Martin was a D16, a great guitar for under $1000 and made here in the USA, a good choice. As for this made in China version; that's just it, it's not a legal vernon, it's an illegal copy. I travel to China, it's a bad place, where people are enslaved by the rich factory owners who are in bed with their government. These knock offs hurt us as much as they hurt them, the good news is it's easy to tell them apart from the real thing.
i dont know about you but this vid makes me want too get one....fuck Martin in Nazareth they are as over priced as Gibson...and dont give me the standard BS line that it is a " conterfit" or "not the real thing"...or the other BS i hear "a real martin will hold its value"...what nonsense...i have 4 Gibsons ALL from the early 70s thats 40 yeras folks and all i can get for them IF i would too sell them is about 5K at most...each
but your title says...this is only a little test of Martin D45 China Replica. And as far as price goes...The guitar that I purchased, definitely plays and sound better than a lot of other U.S. made guitars. infact...at a christmas dinner last night, I played my uncles D-28 which as basically a D-45 and I also played his and mine definitely bellowed out more and was easier to play, now it may fall apart in 6 months but it is for sure louder in (all ) the chords.
I don't want to be the bad guy but this is not a a copy of a D45 it is just a China guitar. A Martin D-45 sound like a piano. Tis guitar has no personality I am sorry but you probably pay to much for this guitar. And I am sure Martin did not authorized any china maker to copy their guitars.
But you play very well and would be more than happy to see you playing the same gigs on a real Martin D45.
Looks and sounds great! I always wondered how their acoustics played, but they seem to be pretty nice, at least the one in this video. Did it need any work when it arrived? How would you rate it (considering the price)?

If that is a D45 knock off from China, then the Chinese have succeeded in disgracing one of the last US made items, good work Mao.

seems to be a good substitute for low budget alright, but nothing can beat a real Martin D45 for sure, good thing has its price..
