  • I actually thought Tribeca was a car. Sounds like a 4x4 - Chevrolet Tribeca or something....

  • bad-ass

  • i actually found this take quite weak.

  • You talkin' to me?

  • the director is suicidal

  • Can you try it more energetic?

"Aehh--I don't care for that. Nah. Mmm Mmm, Not gonna happen. Don't make me repeat that. Also, I want an equal amount of blueberries in each muffin."

  • @Pyramidsong420 Casino

  • Deniro is such a fucking jerk. He's not even a good actor anymore. He's washed up and now every movie that he's in all suck.

  • @lighthouse44 Well said man... He was a great actor once (Taxi Driver, Once upon a time in america, etc)... Now he is starring in every bullshit, just for the paycheck.. He is bored and doesnt even tries to change his expression from one movie to another, its like copy-paste !! A total jerk !

  • Doesnt have to be that subservient. There is such a thing as directing,

but I'm sure every actor at some point, has had to fight off some mediocre suggestions.

  • He knows what he's doing - he's Robert De Niro. Its like what he said, he's promoting a film festival, not selling cars.

  • I think De Niro just hates the fact that he's doing a commercial.

  • maybe the director wanted something more like the announcer for the monster truck event at the local fair BE THERE! ITS GONNA BE CRAZZZZZY

  • Funny how when he starts to lose it, he turns into one of his many film personas. Makes you wonder how much of acting is being oneself.

  • @lemonjellies That's true...I've always suspected that Jack Nicholson doesn't really "act" so much as let out different sides of his actual personality...

  • People do not seem to understand what directors job is here. It does not matter if you are god himself, but when you are acting, you do what director tells you.

  • i would love to see bobby selling cars.

  • @breasthound Funny, but DeNiro actually broke into acting by doing a commercial or two for (IIRC) Buick in the very early-'70s.

A LOT of actors for a long time have gotten started with getting their faces out there for Show Business people to see by doing little jobs on commercials, even dumb commericals if necessary. And sometimes, ya know it actually works. DeNiro is one of those cases.

No one remembers the commercials, but everyone remembers his REAL work.

    Trivial, but wholly true hehehehe

  • the director should have said "less boring this time"

  • "You talkin to me?" lol

  • He should be more pissed at himself for starring in Little Fockers

  • while I believe an actor is always free to make their own choices, I don't think not giving the director what he wants is a good idea. No matter who you are.

  • @PepperWhite62 I think you're missing a large part of the story here. To simplify, that "director" was working for DeNiro on DeNiro's own project, not the other way around. That "director" was an idiot bubble-head that didn't grasp what it was he was doing, and was too facile to care about what he was SUPPOSED to be doing. AND that was like the 19th take or whatever that he'd already put DeNiro through unnecessarily.

And not all directors are God, this "director" least of all hehehehe

  • @WinstonSmith6079 Valid points you have made and I agree, but if it was DeNiro's project why not direct it himself? It couldn't have turned out any worse than The Good Shepherd. Don't get me wrong I love Bobby D and certainly admire him and his method acting. However I feel a certain obligation to give any director what they want. No biggie it was just a PSA for some Tribeca project not a film.

  • @PepperWhite62 Well the Tribeca Film Festival is his baby, ya know, being the one who made it and owns it, his own handiwork. He plainly takes it very seriously, as he should, and I don't blame him.

And he'd done the takes properly, but that goofy, dense, kiddie director want him to do it cheap, as to misrepresent what he's pitching. It's an artistic event, not a Monster Truck Blowout, see?

He knew what he was doing, but that "director" didn't know what's what, like he said hehehehe

  • @WinstonSmith6079 Cheers.

  • @AresLeviathan Thanks! hehehehe

And majesticmaniac has turd-balls for brains hehehehe

  • @WinstonSmith6079 A director is a director, period. DeNiro is an actor and he has to know his place.

And the director is freaking right, DeNiro brings that line like a 'dementor' sucking all the fun out of it.

Either do a promotion right or bring another to do it properly.

  • @quelorepario Heh, just like the (non-)director, you so miss the point! It's not supposed to be "fun" but informative! Damn! What's wrong with you!

  • @WinstonSmith6079 okay let me rephrase it: it sucks all the joy of life from the viewer.

It is freaking depressing, clearer for you?

  • @quelorepario I knew what you were saying. Guess it goes to show not only who advertisements intend to draw, but also who they do not intend to draw.Talk about considering your audience, eh! That being a rather particular and specific demographic.

You would not like the Tribeca Film Festival--it's not "fun" enough hehehehe So it's a good thing that smart, knowin'-what-he's-doing DeNiro is good enough to let you know that instead of misrepresenting it as that "director" is trying to make him do.

  • @WinstonSmith6079 you don't seem to understand. DeNiro was rude, and doesn't matter what is the genre he was freaking dead on camera, and his reaction proves that he shouldn't have left home that day.

And I reiterate: when a director tells you to jump, you freaking jump. Period.

  • @quelorepario Nah! You're talking more about how you think movies should be made. This is different than that.

The "director" was working for DeNiro himself, not hired by some film studio to be over DeNiro. But the "director" was doing a shitty job, not doing what DeNiro put him on to do, but being plenty patient nonetheless (what we see in the above video is like the 16th Take or such when DeNiro FINALLY starts to lose it).

    [continued...]

  • @WinstonSmith6079 maybe he wanted de niro to show enthusiasm and excitement. its very generic in this take.

  • @gninja92 No, no, FFS! Jesus, have any of you ever set foot into any art-museum even once in your entire lives!? It's not "exciting", is it? It's...something ELSE than that, something DIFFERENT than "excitement". Hence, being DIFFERENT, with the word "generic", you couldn't be more wrong, as Art is anything but generic. :|

Ugh! Don't go to the Tribeca Film Festival! In fact, don't ever, EVER go to anything even a little bit like it! You wouldn't like it at all; it would not be fun for you!

  • @quelorepario [...continued]

So obviously he's not gonna "jump" when that "director" says so. But I bet if that kid understood what he was supposed to be doing there, DeNiro WOULD have "jumped", no problemo, as DeNiro is just that professional.

  • I disliked this just to piss everyone off.

  • @cinnamonbear890 You're entitled to your own opinion. Plus Dineegro needs to get off his high horse and take some constructive criticism. Douche.

  • @Overfl00d LOL that's dumb! Explain to me how that "criticism" was constructive....

  • ....honestly............ i feel like buying a car right now, and im not riding deniro's dick neither. its just i feel like this way now after watchin it lmao

  • wanna piss him off faster? just be ben stiller

  • @thekingkickass101 LOL nice one! The apperance of Ben Stiller is enough to piss anyone off LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL HAHAHAHAHA

Hmmm...I think there's quite a few of the ADD-generation in these Comments that are a lot like Ben Stiller LOLOLOLOLOL so awful, so just bad LOL HAHAHAHA LMAO! hehehe

  • Which ever way DeNiro chooses to do it is the correct way.

  • @larryurneryahoocom Damn straight! That's DeNiro's own project! He knows how he wants it done! Little n00bie nobody "director" collecting a paycheck "thinks" that he can, also at the same time, tell DeNiro, who's paying him, what's what.

I hope that little dumbass never got to work as a director again, because he didn't seem to give a shit about the job he was supposed to be doing there.

  • lesson learned, never criticize de niro's acting ability by telling him how to do his job. if there was a level beyond being a god on screen, de niro would be the only one there.

  • Want to piss him off faster just be Edward Norton.

  • @Wesleech hmm? what do you mean?

  • @dotchoo When they made the movie "The Score" Deniro hated him for some reason.

  • he doesn't need to be energetic deniro is a fucking god

  • Looks like he's promoting a movie about death and sadness

  • lol,i love De niro. Fuckin badass just like in his best movies.

  • Well to be fair I hate artists, actors, and bands with an attitude like this. They think they are the be all and start all of a production. When truth is all the tech crew will be there way before, and way after. !!

  • @superbaggy Yep it's like fuck the President he has no real power! The gardener will still be pulling weeds from the lawn when he's gone!

  • @superbaggy I dunno about that "director", though. I gotta wonder if he'll have a directing job again, especially with this video on YouTube for all to see.

OTOH, he may still be around, as you say. I bet he would work great as a lackey for Michael Bay & Co.

  • hahhahahahaahhahaha that was so funny

  • he was lifeless no smile horrible promo promos are supposed to be inviting the only thing de niro seemed to be inviting was us to a funeral two thumbs down way down

  • @deltapunk21 But it wasn't you he was inviting, see. Not everyone is inviting you, ya know. And did you really, actually want to be invited to every little thing ever? Gosh, I sure hope not!

  • I love this man!

  • to be honest.. I'd be more interested in watching this than any other commercial these days.

  • Deniro shudda done it as Rupert Pupkin.

  • i totally thought he was selling cars

  • do another? you are suposed to say a simple yes you idiot! lolo

  • more energetic LOL what a lunatic

  • yeah the dumbass in the background don't know shit!, it's not a movie, it's an advertisment, dumbass

  • If the director was Martin Scorsese, Deniro would have done it a 100 times believe me...

  • The director is clearly a naive novice because he wasn't aware that De Niro is a taciturn fellow who doesn't take kindly to being bossed about (unless your name happens to be Martin Scorsese). Expecting De Niro to be energetic is like expecting Brian Blessed to be quiet.

  • I love Deniro as much as the next guy but c'mon, he sounded miserable and the director asked nicely for Deniro to look like he gave a fuck...I may be alone but I feel Deniros reaction was totally uncalled for and he was probably having a bad day or something, these people are probably paying at least a million to use him in there advertisement and its not too much to ask him to add a little flair in what he was saying. Get off Deniros dick people, he's the greatest actor but manners cost nothing

  • for the type of movies DeNiro has been in, and the type of characters he was, and is, being energetic does not work with DeNiro.

  • @chodaswipe123 LOL I know! Them dumb kiddies, who can't even make up a good and original movie on their own, dunno one great actor from another!

DeNiro has always been sooo famous for being on the low-key. So given not only him, but what it is that he's pitching, his "non-energetic" delivery all the more correct.

LOL they would have DeNiro jumping around, screaming like an idiot ass-clown, but DeNiro's all like 'NO. You dunno what yer talking about! So, NO!' LOLOLOL LMAO so awesome! hehehe

  • @chodaswipe123 LOL I know! Them dumb kiddies, who can't even make up a good and original movie on their own, dunno one great actor from another!

DeNiro has always been very famous for being on the low-key. So given not only him, but also what it is that he's pitching, his "non-energetic" delivery is correct.

LOL them dumbasses would have DeNiro of all people jumping around screaming like an idiot ass-clown, but he's all like 'Uh, NO. You dunno what yer talkin' about! So, NO!' HAHAHA awesome!

  • One of the most famous actors in history doesn't have to be energetic for a FOX commercial.

  • WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW YOU GODDAMN DIRECTOR> SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LET ME DO MY THING- what Deniro really was thinking

  • I think its funny that he asked Robert De Niro to be more energetic lol Its like telling Chris Walken to lose his quirks.

  • Yes... excuse me... no...

  • Yeah seriously nobody tells DeNiro how to act.

  • @ApostleMan222

Wrong. He is a great actor because he was pushed, retake'd and told "that sucked" a million times over and over again by his directors.

  • @ApostleMan222 He wasn't really acting though, he was just being himself.

  • its ok everyone hes not selling cars

  • The director got whacked

  • Funny, first he says it was energetic, but then he wraps it up with saying that he's not selling cars, thereby implying that he doesn't need to be all that energetic in the first place. Am I the only one who thinks Mr. De Niro is being inconsistent here?

  • @noyearold Not really. He is saying that there was energy but he isn't going to do "car salesman" energy which is what he probably inferred that the director was saying. Being that there are more types of energy than just "car salesman," I don't consider that to be inconsistent.

  • @noyearold I don't know exactly what he means when he says "That was energetic" (maybe he's thinking in complex performing terms) but I think when he says he's not selling cars he means he's not going to do the kind of over-the-top, fairground-style delivery that you get with local car dealership commericals (in America).

  • He got energetic when the due told him too

  • Hes not selling fuckin cars

  • Energetic, what were they expecting? A mad taxi driver? A pissed off boxer? A bank robber

  • I have to say that he certainly could have been just a touch more energetic than he was, but then again he's doing a commercial for the Tribeca Film Festival...which is HIS creation. So I guess he can do whatever the fuck he wants.

  • He sure got energetic the minute they told him to get energetic.

  • wow he sure was hyper =)

  • He was not doing any favor, he was being paid to do that. Really wasn't energetic.

  • It is true, He is not selling cars.

  • Don't ever tell Deniro how to act you stupid fucks

  • If i be honest, that really wasnt energetic..

  • @majesticmaniac

Everyone is just too use to seeing ridiculously up-beat ads to grab attention, hes ROBERT DE'NIRO - be grateful he brings sometimes different to advertisements.

  • @majesticmaniac Pfft! You idiot! DeNiro did that properly! You're about as dumb as that n00bie dipshit that didn't know what the hell he was "directing".

  • @WinstonSmith6079 ....Well 54 people + me seem to disagree with you, asshole..

  • @majesticmaniac LOL! That's 55 "people" out of nearly 20,000 so far. Hehe yeah, I can see why you'd be so proud of yourself! LMAO!

Hey, say something else moronic, so that I can LOL again! LOL

  • @WinstonSmith6079 ...So u mean to say nut job, that all 20000 people have been disagreeing with me, and only a paultry 55 r in agreement with me...that statement of urs proves that u have some growing up to do before u even qualify to get into a conversation on youtube, let alone anywhr else...so stay at home for a while sonny, because if you make such stupid statements any whr else, people might not take it as mildly as i have, they may get physical, and may show thr disagreements on ur face

  • @majesticmaniac Uhh, you're not very good at like typing the English language, are you? I could hardly read that at all! I don't know what you're saying there! :/

  • @WinstonSmith6079 So now i have to teach you the english language...Sorry cant do, go to ur mommy.

  • @majesticmaniac Heh, please tell me you're not actually dumb enough to believe what you're (badly) saying! Since when is "ur" a word? And why are you frightened of your SHIFT key? :|

Now look at how I type. Now look at how you type. Do you actually think you can teach me anything? hehehehehe

  • @WinstonSmith6079

You are a Messiah. You opened my eyes. Now I shall endeavour to write the english language properly.

    Thank you.

    YOURS Truly

    Now FUCK OFF.

  • @majesticmaniac No. YOU fuck off, you dumbass! Talk about being energetic: Spend some of your excess energy into as much education as a normal 11-year-old already has! Dumbass!

  • @WinstonSmith6079 What're you selling cars?

  • @MrBastilleDay Sorry, no. No cars for sale here hehehehe
