  • nico wooo amazing

  • I nearly crapped my pants when I noticed that Nicko McBrain is the drummer. I've been a Pat Traverse fan since 1977 and was unaware of any earlier drummer than Tommy Aldridge. If your info is correct, thank you very much for posting this!

  • @BrantWylde Nick only did two albums with Pat. 'Putting it Straight" and 'Making Magic".

  • Def Leppard are pussies.

Not worthy enough to carry Pat's gig bag.

  • loved this line up, mars cowling bad ass bass player

  • whys the sync off? This is still great music........always living on in my mind.

  • Toronto's own, love this guy

  • What is that song at the end?

  • ... electric mistress, tube screamer, and a roland space echo ... it works for me !

  • wow man, this is fantastic!! I've only seen Pat Travers playing a Telecaster in pictures - this was a treat to watch!! Seen him live many times back in the late 70's / early 80's with the Melody Maker!! Peter Mars Cowling is such a monster bassist!!!! Nico is amazing! Pat is definitely a guitar hero!! Great stuff!! Great tune!! Thanks for sharing!!

  • SO DOWN TO EARTH...RAW.....CANT BEAT THIS SHIT!!!

  • deff lepard is one of the worst rock bands ever. i dont care how many records they sold. only motley crew is worse.

  • Love the vid! This was hot stuff for 1976, when America was switching over to stupid Disco. If it wasn't for groups like Pat Travers, I'd have never made it through the rest of the 70's. Going to go listen to Pat's entire album of "Go For What You Know" right now!

  • ADA Flanger and Echoplex. Signature PT.

  • @spamwagon No it was a mains MXR flanger - the black one

  • i saw pat the old miami baseball stadium he opened for reo and zztop

  • Great bassist, fuck me!!

  • man, i've never heard a telecaster GRUNT like that! i gotta get me one of them there tele deluxes and see if i can make it do that. what a great rock sound!

  • Excellent!

  • All Bad Ass guitarist back then had to wear vests with no shirts back then coz the rock was so HOT!

  • What does Pat Travers have to do with Def Leopard? I like them both but Travers is an "OLD SCHOOL" guitar "GENIUS!" It's like Apples and oranges.... go listen to some "Humble Pie," then make yur comparison! And BTW... the "PIE" is another example of the "Real Deal!"

  • This song, and this band, is so much better with Tommy Aldridge on the skins.

  • It just occurred to me that Pat isn't actually playing here.....it seems like they didn't get the guitar recorded initially and he had to go back and dub this. Did a good job anyway, but it's funny to watch.

  • saw him in 76 and got a free flexi-disc of this...friggin awesome!

  • Nico McBrain and Pete Cowling - the best rhythm section I ever saw.

  • Wow what a great find. I have been a Pat Travers fan since this album came out! I have always wanted to see Nicko McBrain play the songs from Makin Magic and puting it straight. I still have the first three albums on 8 track. The first time I saw Travers was in San Jose Ca. just after Tommy Aldredge joined the band. still a power trio. After Pat Thrall joined the band. Travers' music changed for the next few albums. I saw PT. play in 2008 the man is beter now than he's ever been, he's the best!!

  • Ahhhh, the old Roland echoplex.

  • angsdad, Roland made the Space Echo. Echoplex was a different brand. I know it's picking a nit, just sayin'. I agree the old tape echos are still cool. Long live analog!

  • Yeah, it's been so long since I had one, I forgot.. We called everything an echoplex back then.

  • @angsdad Maestro Sireko Echoplex

  • "Oh god I love this song!!!"With Pat Travers band..My hair stands up on my body!! "He is incredible goog!!!"

  • Sorry! I wrote wrong..Good!!! It should be! For it is he!!

  • I saw Pat open for Aerosmith in 1982. PT played almost 1:30 min and the show was the best ever! Cowling is a sick bass player! Aerosmith was awesome too....Rock in a Hard Place tour .

  • saw that tour also in detroit michigan..pat was great but the audience seemed to not like it much when he said hey detroit..but he said de-troit kinda with a french flair.he was only trying to be humourous..but the detroit fans never got it....i understood.i'm from windsor ontario canada across the river from detroit..anyways pat was fucking great.met him at the bluesfest in windsor 2 summers ago and he put on a clinic the day before..what an honour to watch him..

  • SICK! NICO!!!

  • I ...just noticed that Nicko was the drummer too ! HolyfreekingMaiden !!!

I saw Pat after Def Leppard opened up for them....Wow..Pat was good but Leppard blew them off the stage !!

    Travers still rocks !

  • I caught Def Leppard in 1981 on their first US tour opening for Blackfoot. Good show....

  • @BloozeRockJunky ... the leppard/ blackfoot was leppard's 2nd tour, they opened for pat among others in 1980, i caught the travers/leppard show in the 2nd row at sacramento memorial auditorium, the next year i saw the blackfoot/leppard show in the 3rd row, same venue, leppards third tour they headlined at the oakland coleseum indoor arena, i didnt go cuz i knew i could never get good seats, besides they went to hell after that anyway..... PT Forever!!

  • No. Def Leppard in circa 1981/82 could have only wished to "blow Pat Travers off the stage". Pat is a towering monster. Those little guys in leppard are great , but, they're no Pat Travers. Sorry. Simple fact. All seasoned guitar slingers will tell you the same. Pat is just a monster.

  • @kevinneslund Testify my brother!

  • @kevinneslund Don't get upset, they were obviously joking. You were joking right?

  • @kevinneslund I agree.

  • @mrdorkfish1 Yep, I saw DL open for pat that year too. DL was great back when they had real guitar players in the band, plus they were all like 18-19 years old. Killer show.

  • @mrdorkfish1 Top of the line!!!

  • @mrdorkfish1 i bet leppard were more popular, these two bands have no business being on the same bill, i will tell you now, pat travers band is a lot better then leppard ever was and ever will be, leppard were good up until pyromania, after that they sucked,

  • @vanhalen515084 - you got that right mate, leppard were good until pete willis got the bullet.....

  • I just found out last week that Nicko was in the Pat Travers Band..Blows my mind...I cannot believe Pat was only 22 at the time ! Because Pat started so young he still looks and acts relatively young even now....Amazingly underated..Should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...And I wish he would re-assemble the classic Cowling_aldridge--Thrall line up......

  • pat travers on of the most underrated around one of the true greats

  • I have a picturesleeve plastic flexidisc (thin as paper) of this single that was given free with an English music magazine called 'sounds' back in 75-76,it's one of my favourite treasured posessions.

I saw him in the 70's and have seen him quite a bit here in Florida.

    He hasn't lost a step!

  • Mars is amazing! That bass sound is just out of this universe!! Great to see Pat as a youth, and playing a Telecaster!!! WOW, true vintage stuff!

Pre-Maiden Nico is always a joy to watch and listen to!!! Thanks for posting this!!!

  • So true, Mars is so under rated!

  • Man, Pat Travers has had some of the best drummers ever playing with him! Nicko here then going on to play with Maiden! Awesome post THANK YOU!

  • you gotta love Nico's Screaming !

  • It was originally on the album PAT TRAVERS released in 1976, and again on the live album GO FOR WHAT YOU KNOW released in 1979.

  • @BloozeRockJunky yeah I was @Jack Murphy Stadium 1979 Pat Travers UFO Cheap Trick Blue Oyster Cult oh and a Band called Shakin Streets opened, any way this was the album to own along with UFO...Tommy Aldridge kicks the crap out of this song and pretty much the whole album...not to mention Pat Thrall who does all the tastey licks on the whole album.

  • @petemouth That was a kick ass show!

  • @BloozeRockJunky PT was and is so the man

  • This is a totaly bitchen tune!!

  • wow, that tele deluxe has a lot of grunt! sounds great.

  • Thats the drummer from Maiden

  • nicko

  • Wow, what a trip! I'm used to hearing the "Go For What You Know" track. I've seen PT about 18 or 19 times back in San Diego, he's awesome!

  • hey drumstix, if you're a SD guy perhaps you're familiar with the Beat Farmers. just wondered if you ever had the chance to check them out back in the day. if you haven't look them up here. best little bar band ever.

  • Yeah, I remember country Dick Montana and the gang. didn't see them but a couple times. I mostly remember that song about his little dog spot that got hit by the car... hubba hubba hubba, LOL!

  • @MichaelMG711 I'm from SD.( now I'm elswhere) Beat farmers were awesome I used to watch Country Dick belt out the songs while chugging beer from a Gallon milk jug,he could really rock it good ol boy style. RIP Country Dick you are missed.

  • genial, excelente,muy bueno.

  • this kicks ass check out freedom and whiskey here u tube thanks
