  • beautiful! hail nature!

  • @Stormfreak1234 i saw about 5 trees that fell in this vid

  • We have frequent gales that are wind speeds around 40mph?

I almost blow away when those gusts coming rolling at me... so what would a hurricane do to me! :O

  • Ya, the trees held up pretty well. The wind seemed so violent, yet they were only Cat 1 strength.

I did manage to get one tree snapping - at 2:31 you can see the tree in the center break apart in the high gust.

  • wow incredible gust on 1:46! awesome footage indeed

  • Fantastic Footage !

  • this is amazing! i live about 8 miles away from morgan city in patterson. our trailer got its roof ripped off. sadly we had to get it torn down.

  • That's terrible. You were in the area that got hit the worst. Hopefully you found a new place to live.

  • thanks for your concern. happily we've got a new home just around the corner from where our old home was.

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • at 2:54 the trees look like their waving. its funny

  • yeah they prob thinkin "Please stop it hurts" " I will do anything"

  • Awesome video

  • Great sound btw, and the winds looked prety impressive several times

  • Wait What secret? btw looks like Ike may make landfall too soon. Josephine or some later storm may have to suffice

  • Too soon?? Its going to be perfect - hopefully it will pass right over us (or better yet just north so my place isn't destroyed) as a cat 4.

  • Awesome video from a great chase team. Well done guys!

  • Thanks! It was my first 'cane but definitely not my last.

  • Great video Max! It shows the eyewall convection we experienced. Even with a cat-1 winds if there is heavy rain it makes it look higher than cat-1.

  • Stop wishing the Hurricane on us you sick Bastard JK

    Awesome video

    Looks amazing

  • Now I want a hurricane to make landfall near Wendy's on 119th street.

  • Max,

As close as I ever want to be to the fury of a hurricane. WOW. Excellent footage, adding to "'Canes" playlist, thank you.

    *StormSpinner1* in Texas

  • Thanks, stormspinner. I'm sure you'll want to see one this close one day - it's amazing!

  • Oh, no I don't. LOL Not that brave. Just stay safe, 'hear?

    *StormSpinner1*

  • Wow this is incredible footage Max!!! Just incredible. Your Tornado footage was by far some amazing footage this year out in the plains, but I have to say this is the most extreme footage that you have. I love it. Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks, Nathan. Now it's time for you to come chasing with us so you can see a hurricane. There are lots of storms that are giving you that option.

  • Thanks, but with my job I can't do much of anything. I have to get lucky for some extreme weather to come my way which it hasn't lately. You just enjoy you experiences in the extreme weather that you have been in. I am sure some day I will meet up with you guys on a chase. I almost met up with Jim Leonard, and Michael Laca on one of my chases this year on May 1, 2008.

  • Thanks, Mike! Yes, the white out was incredible, but also scary as hell. I need to inherit your fearless mentality.

Ike is getting me real excited. Use "the secret" and it will making a Florida landfall in no time!

  • WOW..."the secret" must really work! Ike is now a Category Three as of 8pm...with a 24mb pressure drop since the 5pm estimate... now that's some rapid strengthening!

  • AWESOME video as always, Max!!! I see you got some of the "white out" conditions on the drive back from Morgan City...that was incredible. We may be doing this all over again with Ike in a few days... we'll see.
