Yes it could but it is so much more advanced that you would spend a lot longer learning it. The old classic 172 might be ugly but it is simple to learn and relatively cheap to fly and maintain so I doubt the 400 will be replacing it very soon.
I hope we can get LSA's into flying schools because honestly what is the difference now between a GrpA and an LSA....not much?

Wow! Thats a cool looking Cessna. Can that be used as a training aircraft, replacing the 172?
Best looking aircraft, I'd say the PC-12 NG, i also like the KLM 747 :)
