There's no better music than this kind. No matter what garbage they do this day. Glen Miller It's always here to listen to. No one is pointing a gun to my head and make me listen to what I should or should not.
@dunkelheit616 Stop pretending? I quite don't understand what you mean. Just because we're young means that we can't like this type of music? Interesting. It's people like you who get all the other younger crowd to listen to that other "music" like LMFAO, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown. Glenn Miller's new idea of his type of music played by an Orchestra seems to come from a different planet. What a pity he died in a flight at the end of the 2nd World War. He composed incredibly beautiful music played by his own orchestra. I LOVE HIS WORKS !

@Lacey2408b This only goes to say that no one has to be a specific age to enjoy good music. My dad was 6 years old, my mom was 5 years old when this song was composed. My husband and I were not born until 23 years later Now many years later our 11 year old daughter likes this music She has The Big Band Music on her ipod, she loves Moonlight Serenade, Our daughter also likes music by Elvis Presley,The Beatles,The Monkees,The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones, and Country Music she is only 11

It's a great tune and nobody plays it better the the Miller band.
I don't think I had ever heard this before, but it is great. I love listening to the old Big Band music. I loved the video here too. Thanks for posting!
@akanippy wow that's fantastic! beautiful age! Glen Miller was an absolute legend I bet you must be cringing when you hear the music of today. I wish you plenty more years to come and have lots of respect for you embracing technology and the internet! Bless you.
@dancingkira95 music is never beyond anyones time! Every artist produces music in the hopes that it will cross any and all barriers! The fact that you, a teenager loves Big Band music is awesome! Keep your mind open!
The music from this era was the best! I know this will sound like a "buzz kill" but I'm glad I wasn't alive back then. We were in the middle of World War II! But I do love the music.
@MrMartymusic I GUESS YOU WOULD PREFER TO BE ALIVE AFTER THE DESTRUCTION WROUGHT BY REAGAN AND KING GEORGE I AND ll? AT LEAST DURING THE EPOCH OF THE BIG BANDS THE U.S. HAD A REAL LEADER----FOR ALL THE PEOPLE, NOT JUST THE PLUTOCRACY
As my Mum has been telling me since I could walk and shuffle around to Glenn Miller...I was not made to be in modern times. Haha. I feel this music flowing right down to my heart and toes! Love it! I'm 23 and in my head it is 1941!
Artie Shaw was wonderful and also Glenn Miller and of course Harry James and Tommy Dorsey who brought us the incomparable Sinatra. Big band music is awesome. I just wish younger people today would realize what great musicians they were. Can you even compare trash music about hos and drugs with cursing every 2 seconds to this type of music? It's like comparing two totally different universes. God bless all the big band leaders. Beautiful music and enormous talent.
so glad these great musicals have not been forgotten. I'm only 47 but I love Glen Miller and all the other big bands. Local radio station plays them for hours on the weekends. I listen to them on an old wireless just to get the feeling. :o )
@Thadesgal lol im only 18 and i dig this. While most of my friends listen to bieber and mindmelting techno, I chill to Glenn Miller and Photoshop. I like my position better haha
ME, TOO!! But then I think, well... I'm here in this time to appreciate the songs of yester year and help "old" people remember, and help "young" people appreciate. Ya know? :) (God bless!!)
Does anyone know of any other wonderful artists from this time. I would like to buy some music made in the 1940's and It has been difficult to find. So If you know of any great artists. Please respond.
Al Bowlly was a superb singer from the 1930s-40s but if you want big band leaders then there are guys like Lew Stone, Roy Fox, Jack Hylton, Ambrose & his orchestra. If you want some songs or more artists message me :)
Try Frank Sinatra from the Dorsey years-it's his best work before the Capitol records years. Otherwise try Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington;and, Harry James.
There will always be a difference between the original Glenn Miller Orchestra and later constellations. It´s mostly about musicianship, taste and discipline, I guess.
This is real music. Youngsters of this day go for the garbage which is a lot of loud noise. Shame no one has taught them what good taste is in all things. I call it poor parenting is it is that good.
Incredible. I can see infront of me the sun rising in like Los Angeles or something, where all the hot-rods are drivin' by, a coffee shop just opening and stuff like that. It really makes me wish I was born in the forties and got to grow up in the fifties :)
I don't wanna be pecksniffian, but this is the post-war Miller orchestra. Glenn is not present. But it's a slight improvement on the original arrangement, and the band sounds great. Thanks for posting.
Thks SUNSONG23 - my parents made me take music when I hit the 4th grade - Mel Clark was a band director who loved the BIG BANDS (the music of his teens) and we played it every day --> I loved it then - I still love it!

@akanippy Hi youngster. I first heard this when I was 6 and have loved it ever since.
It is encouraging to know that, in this era of mostly non-musical music, there are still those who appreciate melody, harmony, and control.

Guitarist1617 1 year ago 2
The music from this era was the best! I know this will sound like a "buzz kill" but I'm glad I wasn't alive back then. We were in the middle of World War II! But I do love the music.
MrMartymusic 1 year ago

Beautiful music and enormous talent.
msinatra 2 years ago 3
I agree. I'm 21 and love the ol' big band music. I really do wish people my age would realize what Amazing music it is.

so glad these great musicals have not been forgotten. I'm only 47 but I love Glen Miller and all the other big bands. Local radio station plays them for hours on the weekends. I listen to them on an old wireless just to get the feeling. :o )

Does anyone know of any other wonderful artists from this time. I would like to buy some music made in the 1940's and It has been difficult to find. So If you know of any great artists. Please respond.
Piper259 2 years ago
Al Bowlly was a superb singer from the 1930s-40s but if you want big band leaders then there are guys like Lew Stone, Roy Fox, Jack Hylton, Ambrose & his orchestra. If you want some songs or more artists message me :)

Try Frank Sinatra from the Dorsey years-it's his best work before the Capitol records years. Otherwise try Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington;and, Harry James.
beki611 2 years ago
I agree except for Harry James, I just don't dig his stuff, but you forgot to mention Artie Shaw, lol

Not so good as the original with Tex on tenor.
4205lr 2 years ago
whos the tenor man?
seerskater 2 years ago
this sounds like a modern recording.
mrtyles 3 years ago
Yes, this is not Glenn Miller. This is a bit sloppy and undisciplined in places, mediocre tenor solo.
RudySunseeker 3 years ago
how is it sloppy?
seerskater 2 years ago
There will always be a difference between the original Glenn Miller Orchestra and later constellations. It´s mostly about musicianship, taste and discipline, I guess.
RudySunseeker 2 years ago
I thought it was Glenn Gray?
BrookeRaspberry 3 years ago
In my opinion this is the best music around. Music today is just loud obnoxious noise. I will always love this style of music,Glenn Miller. Thx.
luvtrns4evr 3 years ago 3
This is real music. Youngsters of this day go for the garbage which is a lot of loud noise. Shame no one has taught them what good taste is in all things. I call it poor parenting is it is that good.

If I think the Mona Lisa is a bad painting, then it is a bad painting. I think this is rendition of Sunrise Serenade is not a good one.

Incredible. I can see infront of me the sun rising in like Los Angeles or something, where all the hot-rods are drivin' by, a coffee shop just opening and stuff like that. It really makes me wish I was born in the forties and got to grow up in the fifties :)
Thank you for sharing :D

I don't wanna be pecksniffian, but this is the post-war Miller orchestra. Glenn is not present. But it's a slight improvement on the original arrangement, and the band sounds great. Thanks for posting.

Thks SUNSONG23 - my parents made me take music when I hit the 4th grade - Mel Clark was a band director who loved the BIG BANDS (the music of his teens) and we played it every day --> I loved it then - I still love it!

You are most welcome! Tommy Dorsey is another great :-)
