Nah... the lakland is ok, but it sounds pretty much like every other good bass. The stingray has it's own sound, although others have tried to imitate it (without success) for years. I know...I've owned the imitators.
i love that bass soooo much im only 11 and thats like my dream bass except the 4 string version. I like the colour natural teal on this bass it looks soo good. theres in musos corner for all those aussies in newy
Well, I currently own a Stingray5 HH and I love it! It's kinda more balanced than the standard version. The sound is very punchy and reminds me of the old red hot chili peppers sound! I just love MM's!!
hey i'm thinking of getting a mm but which bass would be a better choice. A musicman stingray hh, musicman sterling hh or just a normal musicman stingray.
and to answer....in my opinion a typical USA made Precision Bass 4 string S1 with maple fretboard is better than Jazz Bass for any style;) if ya can find a P/J set up then go for that but only USA models can deliver it,,,only 70s,80s and 90s USA P/J precisions;)
the stingray kind if imitates the sound of the jazz bass so they're on the same level. the precision is a WAAY different type of bass. it was meant for most types of Rock and it was discovered to have a sound that fits even Fusion! (the P-bass)
what strings are you using? and is your action set low, high, or somewhere in between?

Sin duda, los Stingray, en cualquiera de sus variedades, son los mejores bajos de serie del mundo. Yo no los cambio por ningun otro.

I have the same one, except the 4 string version. Simply the best...heavy as Sh*t though. Nice grooves.

The heavier the better I say.
Better Wood quality means better tone.

I personally find MM's to be the best looking and best sounding basses ever,Fender basses are alright, not that great.
emostabbuh 4 years ago
I think Fender Jazz basses are the best. thin great neck, versatile sound, classic sound. classic looks.
then MM SR's at a strong second. A bit to thick neck, great sounding, looks dellicious.
