Okay I just got home from anhuge maching band competition and they qualified our band for the state competition. I am a freshman so ive never really felt a victory in band so far... When they announced our name as the very last band on their list of four that are going to state, the music at 1:25 just SO perfectly repicates the pure emotion of victory. We worked our tails off for this and when they called out our schools name, we lost it. So many people were crying, including myself. I have lis
This was my great grandmother's favorite song, I listen to it every night and get goosebumps every time. Phantom regiment is incredible, thank you for posting this
@poopmcdoopdoop the blue devils constantly get high placings. I admit that their execution is flawless. however, their music selection just isnt, in my opinion, good enough for the credit they get.
@dawnofthelivingjesus I think the amount of practice they put in probably is what gets them first. I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of all of their themes, but i do like their playing :P
@poopmcdoopdoop Funny thing is no one hated them before 2008. What really got it, when Phantom won the championships that year, when the Blue Devils won everything before. Right after they won, a bunch of blue devils fans start posting hate comments on every youtube video they could find. And has been like that since, so people just assume that they dislikes are from blue devils fans. (Notice how I say the fans, not the alumni, and members).
@poopmcdoopdoop Oh yeah, absolutely, they deserved it; it was hell of a show. But am I wrong, about when the rivalry started? Although, loved the music from BD this year, entertaining, but visually I don't think they shouldn't have passed up the cavaliers (IMO).
@poopmcdoopdoop I agree, also love the music, but personally I don't like the horns that PR is marching. Never really have, since they changed from King. King's were awesome with them.
The chills I get and tears I shed at the crescendo of this number are always completely involuntary. Few things stir my emotions like this performance. Year to year there are always memorable shows and outstanding performances but some transcend time. This is one of those shows that has been immortalized in the hearts of those who have heard it over the years.
@uubboy14 The Euphonium is a conical-bore instrument, providing listeners with a mellow, dark, full tone while the baritone is cylindrical-bore, providing a bright, energetic tone. While I personally like the Euph more, both instruments are wonderful to listen to.
@uubboy14 Well they play the exact some notes/frequency it is just the euphonium is a larger horn (mini tubas as my director says) and they weigh 12lbs where as a baritone is 5lbs, marching that is. The euphonium thus has a darker sound and is used for 3rd part only but I love 3rd because simply put, "I hear Tyler over all the baritones." So I rock out on 3rd, I got offered to play 1st but I always stay on 3rd because some how me and my friends just like it, also the pride of a euphonium is betr
I love the sound Phantom makes.... they're like an organ. You guys are great, the power you have, even when playing softly. It's amazing. You've graced us all.
Best Mello line EVER!! No arguments from anyone. This has to be the best Mellophone line I've ever heard and all they're doing is sustaining the harmony!
While listening to this, one has to imagine sitting in a stadium atop a hill around midnight. The Phantom Regiment has taken its place for an encore. It's about midnight under a clear sky with a crisp and cool gentle breeze.
The horn line is facing away from the main bleachers as the harmonic blends of Amazing Grace begin, with subtle echoes returning to your ears from the nearby homes. You sit back, appreciate this rare experience, absorbing every moment.
As the first verse ends and a crescendo begins, the horn line rotates to face you and delivers the second verse with the full, legendary sound of the Phantom Regiment. Your body is infiltrated with vibrations turning into chills as this bountiful sound pierces the night. At 1:44, the horn line takes a 2-count rest, allowing the echoes from afar to fill the void. You think of neighborhoods suddenly hearing this unexpected sound - what a blessing it must be.
If I'm stricken with a life-threatening condition and sent home to face my final days, I'd give my life savings to have the Phantom Regiment deploy on my street to let me hear and feel this sound, just one... last... time...
ooh... every time i watch this video i could cry ;( it's so incredible that people can make so wonderful music <3 goosebumps on all over my body *-* i am myself in a drum corps and dream of playing at dci *_*

You were probably watching a G8 corps warmup because most others do it. People only want to see the top scoring corps and march them, using lower corps as stepping stones and then deserting them for the G8. Scores do matter because they determine which corps have the largest audience, money, and talent pools.
