Why not Just Lower the bridge ?

@joewallace2 The bridge is operated by pistons. Two on each side, 4 pistons per leaf, 8 in all. Unfortunately the pistons failed to loose hydraulic pressure and kept the bridge in the upright position.

@joewallace2 The bridge is operated not by counterweights but by hydraulic pistons. 2 on each side of the bridge, 4 pistons per lift span, 8 in all. The problem was when the bridge operator had pressed the down button, the pistons had not lost any hydraulic pressure, keeping the bridge in the upright position .
