FANTASTIC it sounded as good as it possibly could on clarinet. i play, too and advanced band at my school did that one year, but i was in beginners then and in no shape to do those notes. i'm going to ask for them from my band teacher but if he can't get them i'll use yours. thanks so much!

my clarnet tutor told me that if the first instrument you learn to play is a clarinet, then you could switch to any other instrument, and that instrument would be easier than clarinet. but if you tried to switch from any instrument to a clarinet, it's very difficult.

Clarinet is not one of the easier instruments to play. Your lips and cheeks get so sore from your mouth placement. Plus, I have a friend who went from clarinet to Trumpet/French Horn, and she stated that it was much easier to play on the brass instruments than woodwind. It is equally as difficult as any other instrument, all of them have pros and cons. There are so many fingerings and the high notes are not a piece of cake. It is a challenging and beautiful instrument.

question: you know how you have to tongue every first note of the clarinet unless youre supposed to slur? how do you tongue without making it sound staccato at all, like how you played it? even if i try to have a softer tongue and not articulate the notes too much, it still sounds too staccato.

@biancae18 its true that a instruments are equally as challenging, but some people pick things up quicker than others. One example is a tenor sax player in my band decided one day he wanted to play trumpet, so he started playing trumpet, trombone, and basoon. He did all this in a time frame of 3-5 months. i believe he started playing all those in January. We had our orchestra concert in june where he sat 1st chair trombone, in our field show he is 1st chair trumpet, and for concert he is 2nd

@biancae18 chair bassoon. Dont get me wrong, i love the clarinet and i play bass clarinet. I've been playing for about 1 year now, and it really isnt that hard to learn if you set your mind to it. I can play to high f (above the staff) it is pretty hard to learn other instruments, but some are easier to learn like to play sax. i learned how to play the bari easy. it all depends on the person.

@nicoole1309 Clarinet is honest to god one of the easier instruments to play. Flute, your arms get cramped up and stuff like oboe, trumpet, tuba, french horn ect. you have to remember certain fingerings and which way you're supposed to aim the air your blowing into it to get the right note. That and you have to buzz your lips when you do, so they'd be numb after a few if you're not used to it.
